Stratfor Email Leak Reveals Insider Views On Obama, Emanuel & Romney

Tyler Durden's picture

Earlier today, Wikileaks made its latest startling release on Twitter, telling the media world to standby for a 'major announcement'. Alas, in keeping with the recent tradition from Wikileaks, the "release" was a dud and is merely the collected dump of all the emails previously hacked from Stratfor by Anonymous, as was noted here previously. Alas a quick perusal through the emails so far reveals absolutely nothing exciting, except for the communiques of a paid intelligence provider, which may at times have had a few delusions of grandure and a mistaken and rather overblown sense of self-importance (hardly unique). Yet one exchange that is rather interesting is the following email thread from 2009 which goes from discussing how the billionaires behind ACORN have lost all respect for Obama and Biden ("The billionaire (who also funds ACORN) is greatly disappointed over Obama's "weakness and wimpyness" towards China... She believes Biden is weasel and Obama is a pussy... The liberal factions in DC think Obama is being a pussy."), views on Rahm Emanuel ("I don't disagree that Biden is a weasel. I think Emanuel is emasculating Obama by selling him on clever Clintonesque tactics"), views on how Obama may get back into the thick of things: ("Obama needs to get in a fight and do something really mean and unfair to the right."), on Obama and the banks: ("he could also tell the banks to go screw themselves.") and from there going to analyzing the GOP field: ("The GOP folks I talk to are pushing Jeb Bush. I think that is a mistake. Who else is out there?") and culminating with the GOP frontrunning Mitt Romney - "Romney can't make it. Mormons are viewed as Voo Doo." Much more in the full email thread inside.

Tim Pawlenty is about as close as the GOP gets to a sharp, young and eligible governor.

Pawlenty is good.

I think Romney could do it if he is himself. He was as badly handled in 2008 as Al Gore was in 2000. It should have been his nomination and he screwed it all up.

Newt might actually pull the trigger.

I think Huckabee could do it just to piss off people like me.

I would tell Jeb that his time came and went when Katrina went under water.

Frist would love to do it, but it'll take time for him to get up and running.

Depends on where you are. In your neck of the woods, people tend to think no one can do the right thing in Washington. They think the world here is so corrupt that progress will always be stifled by the moneyed interests. (Of course, the fact is that on domestic policy, it's like foreign policy -- the president can have his ideals but there are very few things he can do that won't screw up the country. So he doesn't do them. Watch climate, for instance. It's not corporate lobbying holding him from a deal, it's China. He won't commit economic suicide just to make environmentalists happy. The environmentalists don't think it's suicide, so they think Obama has sold out. It's sad really.)

I think Mrs. P is far closer to a D.C. view of things. The liberal factions in DC think Obama is being a pussy. They don't want a climate deal that kills the US economy and gives everything to the Chinese, but they want someone to stand up to the Chinese and say "this is the way it's going to be." From a West Coast liberal perspective, that's inflaming rivalry and inviting conflict. From an East Coast perspective, that's the only way to get a climate bill. Right now, he's not going to commit suicide (Bay Area approach) but he's not going to back the Chinese down (Mrs. P) either.

Obama needs to get in a fight and do something really mean and unfair to the right. (Gays in the military/revoke Don't Ask Don't tell). He's afraid of the backlash. He could also tell the banks to go screw themselves. Either way, he needs to do something that says he doesn't care about losing political capital. By front loading health care and climate, he made being politically safe his primary objective. He doesn't think he can afford to piss people off until those two are done. (Back to Emanuel, whose job is to tell him that he shouldn't front load all of his controversial proposals.)

Bart, do you believe Mrs. P's thoughts are fairly mainstream among Obama supporters, or are most still fairly content? I feel like I hear comments similar to Mrs. P all the time on other various issues, but my viewpoint is probably fairly skewed. (Marx himself couldn't satisfy half the people here.)

At least Clinton had Panetta at first to tell him when to not be a pussy. Without Panetta Clinton was just a great tactician but he didn't get anything done (except get re-elected).

I remember that she had misgivings about supporting him during the primaries. I assume that rather than support a challenger, she'll just sit out 2012 (unless Obama finds a spine). I'd love to know if there was any talk about whether she and her set think it's him or his staff (esp. Emanuel) who is making his presidency so muddled so far.

From a billionaire Democratic fundraiser --

The billionaire (who also funds ACORN) is greatly disappointed over Obama's "weakness and wimpyness" towards China ("Fred, they only understand strength") and Obama's failure to meet with the Dhali Lama. The fundraiser stated he/she was personally disappointed ("betrayed") for helping Obama get into The White House and does not intend to support Obama next election, absent a drastic turn-around.

If these e-mail messages are indicative of the kind of thought that goes into Stratfor's work product then I'm wondering how they were ever considered relevant?  To say these people missed the boat is to presume they ever had a ticket to ride, let alone knowledge of the boat, the ocean, or the planet which contained it.

Something the kids reading this seem to be missing: The liberal folks are shooting from the hip about Republicans they want to win the nomination that can be easily derailed by democrats in the general election.  They want a good whipping person who they think can convince republicans to nominate so they can deflect criticism from obama with TV spots. Put your thinking caps on people, it's a double fake, they're not picking who they want to win the real election.

I suspect a common problem with becoming a billionaire is that it likely requires you develop a very narrow focus.

The ones that inherit it are likely inbred gits and will lose most of it with what is to come, and with any luck the multi-generational banking family wealth fucktards will evaporate in a white hot flash of hubris.

Thinking Regan is a prince.. I cute.. I like most didn't see the whole deal until later about 15yr's after he was out and I didn't some work with South Americans whose family's and friends had to hide from the death squads.

Even his Reagan's blood kids have a hard time finding something good to say about his policy's..
Now I guess that's a good reason to adopted someone..
now that Michael son of his. still thinks the trickle down worked..
Hey Michael the numbers are in and unless your in the top .005% they didn't work out so good for the masses.

Well the chart on the link above is only One month and flawed at best
Lets see you picked the best month of the Ronald Reagan.and only one month..
But I am no fan of Obama he is so far in bed with the banks,

Apples and Shrimp. Weak does not even begin to describe the link. I would love to blow holes in the weaksauce the link leads to... it would be like me being the Kriegsmarine Battleship Bismark and the author being the HMS Hood. Or the author of that piece playing France, hosting my German Panzer divisions starting on May 10th, 1940. How about I be the Japanese Fleet and the author play Russians at the Battle of Tsushima Straits (May 27th, 1905)?

Or better yet... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Gaugamela

An interesting note about those leaks were the ones mentioning Iran and how the EU supposedly instigating the whole rumor mill in order to take focus off its very own debt cisis. What many fail to realise is that, even though the emails are mostly drivel, they do provide an insight into the psychology (and hence methodology and reasoning pocesses) of the very people involved. It takes a skilled or observant operator to know this. Most humans possess the instinct on the basic level yet fail to fully utilise it. Which is why you find neighbors of mass murderers saying, "I always thought he was a little odd. But he was so polite and kind."

When someone lies to you and you know it, that person doing the lying has provided you with valuable information. Insight into themselves. Something most untermensch almost always fail to realise. The emails are interesting in that they DO provide a candid insight into stupid people regarding motivation, ego, etc...

It is about perception. That is the whole game. Perception is greater than truth. Perception wins the day every time. Sun Tzu wrote a great book about it. Mao Ze Dong had his Little Red Book. Managing perception is the name of the game. The Red Army got its ass kicked everytime until they learned to conduct massive deception operations, catching the formerly invincible Wermacht off guard.

The emails show enough, candidly, for one to gleam information. If they so chose to do so.

It is like all those bitchez out there wondering what Obama's plan or the Republican plan is for creating jobs. "Where are the 'Jobs Plans'?", the untermensch ask. Failing to realise that the "Jobs Plans" are all around them.

And of course, you are right.

Drudge Report says “Obama the Uniter” is playing the race card and asking the black church groups to untie for him. SOoooo I guess a Republican will have to do what? to get some unity rather than a racial divided political country. Maybe Newtwit of is that Nitwit, the educator, can remind America that the Democrats of the Civil War were the Southern slave owners and the Republicans were the Damned Yankees that liberated the black folks. And never mind that the Democrat Klan is still a (neutered) reality in some places of the old Democrat South.

How fitting that Obama got a majority of the white and brown vote and now that his report card as a functional President is in question, he panics and throws the “us against them” racial terrorist bomb. This is not what the “come back kid” did. And this may be that Obama has a valid fear of Clinton 2 taking his job. As a livid and still angry Clinton hater, I hate to say this, but her time may be here now if she has the audacity to attack a failed Democrat party. I do not see Clinton as a person to unite the Country much less unite the Republicans into a Nation that can solve the "critical mass" explosion that we appear to be headed for. But better is better.

The truly sad thing about this is that America wanted Obama to succeed and save us from where we are now. It aint over till its over and it aint over yet. And as disappointed as many are, I think most still want Obama to succeed. God save us all.

Yankees should vote for Obama as he and the current bloated goverment are the culmination of everything they fought for and a logical extension of their "I love centralized authority" mentality. Yankee repubs should love the guy, he has no more respect for the Constitution then their hero Lincoln or their own forebearers and has the same "DC uber alles" mentality. Heck, Lincoln wiped his posterior with that document to "save" it, the north should love this clown- he is a perfect reflection of their political philosophies.

Not much is funnier then hearing a Yankee repub squeal about the results of the choices and policies they pat themselves on the back for. They got what they wanted, watching progressive repub douchebags choke to death on it while their cities crumble and deteriorate is amusing.

Another day, same cheap propaganda.

Dixies loved centralized authority. They had their hands up on it till the reshuffle forced by Civil war.

But, hey, propaganda is never overused for US citizens.

What the hell are you talking about? The Confederacy was as much decentralized as a government can get and still be  agovernment. They likely lost the War of northern Aggression due to their inability to form an overall strategy for winning the war, unlike the North who had Winfield Scott develope such a strategy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Winfield_Scott#Civil_War

The administration and public opinion were clamoring for a quick victory, but Scott knew that this was impossible. He drew up a complicated plan to defeat the Confederacy by blockading Southern ports and then sending an army down the Mississippi Valley to outflank the Confederacy. This Anaconda Plan was derided in the press; however, in its broad outlines, it was the strategy the Union actually used, particularly in the Western Theater and in the somewhat successful naval blockade of Confederate ports.

Dixies and Centralized Authority? Many Southerners yearn for the good ol' days, pining for the loss of The Confederacy. Does that mean bringing back slavery and segregation? Who knows.

Interesting to note that you can't buy a dildo in Alabama... by state law. You can may order one. But not buy one on the territory of Alabama. And then, many Conservative-leaning States want to shove a big, giant dildo called a vaginal ultrasound wand up a woman who is seeking an abortion. If that is not love of centralized authority in the most intimate of situations... and I do mean love. These people are some sick, twisted perverts (who probably wonder if they can juice up the voltage to get the wand vibrating) who love controlling other people... through governmental means a/k/a Centralized Authority.

They had their hands up on it? Oh, Hell NO! The have KY greased vaginal vibrating dildo wands up on it. They're are 21st century Centralized Authoritarian perverts.

This fucktard gets away with it over this white guilt shit. Fuckers...........

If Obama got the "capitalist religion", he'd win in a walk. Trouble is, he's hard-wired for this "shared sacrifice" crap, and "spread the wealth" crap. Funny; NONE of these jackals are around for the "sacrific" stuff - and I've started several businesses. But they always show up to share the riches. Again I say.....fuckers.....

Besides, these morons are all puppets anyway.

Eisenhower was the last good POTUS we had. From there on, bought and paid for by the Military Industrial Complex. Carter was a one term mistake and an exception - but he blew chunks too.

WTF? Everyday is WHITE DAY in America. We don't need a stinking 'special day' for white people. Might as well as call it 'special ed white people day'. Hell, officially, we have more white people celebrated than any other person of another color... Black people only have one guy. What do you want? White People Celebration to outnumber Black People Celebration Days? We alread do.

White People... we need to stop being upset that one Black Guy has his own day. And Black History Month? Well, when the Federal Government declares February and paid-vacation month for Federal workers in celebration of Black History month... then get pissed off. This month, and all year round... 365 days a year, 52 weeks, 12 months, 4 weeks (more or less) in a month, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day...

IT'S ALL WHITE PEOPLE CELEBRATION TIME ALL THE TIME...

So get over it. Stop feeling inferior. If you are white? No reason to. Don't need special associations, special days, or months... Hell, we don't even need a special minute or second. Every white person calling for a special time is degrading themselves... It's acknowledging their inferiority complex and fear of 'others' who appear different. Equality? Everyone should love it. True Capitalism loves equality. It's what Capitalist are always saying... level playing field, everyone is equal. Or some such bullsh*t. Can't have real Capitalism in societies that do not practice equality among all.

Now, people who are not white? Our brothers and sisters of a different skin color? They deserve to have recognition for all they have done for this country. Chinese built the Trans-Continental Rail Road under slave conditions. Took a white man to organize it. The South enjoyed prosperity through cotton cultivation... using black slave labourers. Without slaves... they would have been poor white trash... living in slum-States, which many were (still are judging by Alabama sucking Liberal states dry to provide for foodstamps and public assistance). They live in a white-dominated society where EVERY DAY IS WHITE PEOPLE DAY. That is hard to do. Given the history.

For white people calling for 'White People Days', it is like being afraid of gay people. Those pussies who are afraid of gay men and women? Insecure in their own sexuality. Afraid they might enjoy a Tom, Dick, or Harry up the ol' bum. Insecure pussies are what they are. Hell, evey straight man should conside himself a proud homosexual... a Lesbian trapped in a man's body. And the moe gay guys there are... less competition. Thank you! And lesbians? Love you to.

Obama does have Capitalist religion. Just not YOUR Capitalist Religion. People who claim the Obama is not a Capitalist are like people who are Muslim in a country where everyone is a devout Catholic. Worship the same god but can't see eye-to-eye, they are so fucking blind.

Shared sacrifice crap? Well, Main Street got dumped on bailing out a bunch of Capitalists. Except that the Capitalist that were bailed out behaved like Capitalists and don't want to acknowledge the help and pay it back. Those Capitalists would rather keep it for themselves. There is no 'shared sacrifice' in their vocabulary other than 'you sacrifice your share and I'll just take'. Their like deadbeat ex-husbands who won't pay child support.

Morons? Hardly. Who is riding in the limo and running a country and jetting off to Davos? Would that be you or them?

The writer belittles the Stratfor authors for an overblown sense of their own importance. That is somewhat ironic coming from a group of writers who suffer the same defect regarding their influence on the capital markets. And at least the fellows at Stratfor who bask in their own self importance have the decency to identify themselves in contrast to the folks here who choose to hide in the shadowy penumbras of the blogospere behind a veil of anonymity.

Whereas Stratfor claim to offer a Product/Service that can help you win, ZH does not.

To be fair anyone who is still playing the game at this late stage using objective data rather than biased personnel is just plain stupid.

Only way to make any money in this marketplace is to know when and where the fix is in.

Personally, i always see recessions as a sign to take a year or two out, the holidays are cheaper, dining out is cheaper and you can haggle down the price of pretty much anything you want, its a buyers market out there:-)

Anyways; what did he think Obummer the socialist was going to do, shun China?

There are so many liberrals falling over themselves to be like China it isn't funny.  Elitists on both the right and the left like the idea of subjugating the "little people"; a free and informed populace frightens them.

Religion is nothing more than mass superstition.

christian, muslim, jew, hindu they are all based on exploiting human greed and fear.

But hey thanks for the kind words its what i expect from superstitious nutbags like you, 300 years ago your people would of burned me at the stake so maybe the enlightenment achieved something?

Religion, western religion, once did a great job of educating the masses.

It was the Irish monks who brought medieval europe out of the dark, and

that tradition was passed on;  Up to the 50's, the only way working rural

folk could escape their lot was to study under the good friars and nuns of

the orders.  Of course education was for them a policy of indoctrination

and control, but learned men tend to apply reason and critical thinking,

and so the church ironically sowed the tree of knowledge by its own hand.

Religion should defintely be chastised from public office, but let's not

be so hostile.  All we need to say is: no thanks, your time is done.

Maybe Americans can look to this anachronism as a catalyst for finally

expigating some of the Consitution.  All this pomp of manifest destiny

and one nation under god and all that.  Plenty of western states don't expect

their elecedt leader to adhere to a faith and they don't seem to be lacking

for it.  Why does America still obsess with hypocrisy on faith at the helm?

So you dont think Catholics are Christian? They dont believe in their own churches teachings, much less try to force them on anyone. They make it as difficult as possible to convert to Catholicism without just plainly telling you to go jump off a bridge. unless you are a millionare, then they roll out the red carpet and the bishop will show up at your funeral like they did for Ted Kenedy.

As to the Mormons, they believe that God did not create the universe but that he is merely God over our planet, was born on another planet and was once a man like we are. To be fair, most Mormons dont know this about their own faith, but it is polytheistic and not monotheistic, hence not theologically Christian.

An elitist ideal cannot be socialist or liberal in its views otherwise it wouldn't be elitist.

There is a book called a dictionary (Dick-Shun-Hairy) try looking up words before you use them that way you will be able to make statements that are non-contradictory.
