This soundtrack needs to be dubbed over every interview with every lying, fucking politician that comes on the idiot box (except of course Ron Paul who is telling the truth).

Last night Anderson Vanderbilt was interviewing Ron Paul with a scripted list of questions, and never once listened to one of Dr. Paul's well thought out and articulated answers.  It was like Dr. Paul was talking to one of these babies, it was that bad.  Here it is:

I think you mean, comparing Flat screen tv's, cellphones and Xbox's for the poor with stealing yet more money from people who were wise enough to save and invest properly.

Here is your definition of "poor" America.

They have these things for a time...AC for example...until they can't afford to pay the electric bill (and then house/apt. will of course still have AC even if you can't us it.  It doesn't get torn out if it's central AC.)

And let's remember that many are recently poor due to job loss.  It's more of a ratcheting down process.

Getting rid of your TV or kid's Xbox accomplishes what exactly?  Nothing. Once you can't pay the cable bill, you get disconnected.  The TV still works with an antenna and the Xbox can still play.  If you can't pay the electirc bill, it's a moot point.

Cell phones are cheap and getting cheaper...if all you need/want is something to make a call with, rather than surf the web with an expensive data plan, it makes more sense to have a cell and kill the home hard line.

The National Review article is sensationalist crap.  Ceiling fans?  Really?

I love it how they think a coffee maker is somehow a sign of "wealth."  I picked up a really nice one at a yard sale for $2 this weekend.  Yeah, I'm rollin' in it.

I hear some poor people even have a toaster.  Damn them.

Every poor person I know *somehow* has the money to get a cellphone, a bottle of liquor, or a huge dvd collection with a widescreen tv.

They didn't have it to begin with, they purchased it *despite* being poor.

Why?  Because they waste money on depreciating items that you throw away after a few years instead of buying items that go up in value.

It is a mentality.

Uncle Sugar makes it easy for "the poor" to enjoy a higher standard of living than what we consider poverty level.  Better to keep the sheep placated with AC, cell phones, satellite or cable tv, HDTV, etc than give them a reason to go find some pitchforks and torches.  Not that any American would know what to do with a pitchfork anymore.

Let me caution you here.

We replaced our entire Heat/Cooling system.

It was started with a Wells Fargo Loan and work began and finished within two days.

We read that if the Loan Payment was missed one time, Wells Fargo reserves the right to have someone come in and REMOVE the units and go away leaving a gaping hole in one room and a hole in the pad outside. They would do it too.

We paid off the entire balance by the end of that second day.

The beauty of this replacement was no longer did we have to sink 400 dollars a month into a 34 year old POS electric AC system, we only pay about 40 dollars now, if that much in the high summer months for AC.

Numerical perspecive:

Were the "Bush Tax Cuts" to expire (meaning were taxes to rise) the total nominal additional revenue would be about $98 Billion, assuming no depression of GDP activity from the draining of money from the economy.  The deficit is 1.5T.  In other words, insignificant impact.

Were the tax rate on households earning more than $250K to be set at 100%, meaning total confiscation of all income earned by those households, and again neglecting the negative impact on GDP from draining money from the economy, the revenue raised would be only $900Billion, still leaving 600B of deficit.  And those households all stop working the next year, given they are paid 0.

Finally, if every penny of assets, not income, of wealth were confiscated from the Forbes list of richest Americans, the amount obtained would be about 1.5 Trillion dollars, reducing the deficit to 0, and that would last for 1 year.  The next year the deficit would again be 1.5 T (again all assuming no GDP impact from draining money out of economy) and those assets were grabbed, you can't do it again.  Once you grab the assets, they're gone.  The deficit returns, forever.

It's a spending problem.  Not a revenue problem.

Dealing with the debt ceiling every 3 months would be perfect.

Because it will create turmoil and fear in the markets, and send Treasury yields to new lows time and time again.

In the meantime, more Uncle Gorilla Notes can be rolled over with cheaper and cheaper rates. (i.e. 5-yr. today at a staggering 1.40%)

And, at the same time, crude oil and other commodity prices will plunge and inflation is whipped yet again.

And the QQQ's will stay pinned in a trading range no more than $2 off its 3-year highs indefinitely.

How brilliant is that???

I don't know if this was posted on, and I certainly didn't see it in the MSM News. So I'm wondering if we are being Distracted, once again, Big Time. I'm talking about the results of the FED Audit, here:

To read the GAO report, click here.

[Regardless of whether this money is fiat money (money printed with nothing of value to back it), if it is a currency forced on society and the world, with enforcement by the Fed, IRS, the U.S. military, et al, --which it is-- the acts of the Federal Reserve are, in essence, the transfer of greater wealth to the rich insider banks and corporations, while the rest of the world grows poorer, and as the value of this funny money grows less and less in purchasing power. These insider banks, etc., then, exchange this funny money for gold and silver, the real wealth of the world, which, then, reinflates the world with more and more devaluing federal reserve notes. This, then, creates hyper-inflation, increasing the cost of all resources and commodities, while gold and silver climb to never-seen-before levels of value.

This is how the Federal Reserve insiders steal the wealth of the world and why the rich get richer while the poor get poorer. It's the world's largest Ponzi scheme! The Federal Reserve is nothing but a front for a small group of families who run a very large and successful white collar criminal Ponzi scheme. This criminal institution should be seized by the U.S. Treasury department and all assets frozen, and returned to the coffers of the U.S. Treasury in order to settle the U.S. debt and help begin to balance the U.S. deficit. All banks (listed below) should be forced to return the money received by the Federal Reserve. All families in ownership of the Fed and their agents should be located, caught, tried and jailed for grand larceny and treason against the people of the U.S.A. All government agents who protect and help facilitate this criminal organization should be fired from the positions and similarly tried and jailed for grand larceny and treason. Meanwhile, Congress should return our country to its original monetary system (Lincoln greenbacks backed by precious metals) and, again, do its duty to regulate the coining of the currency of America as per the U.S. Constitution.]

The list of institutions that received the most money from the Federal Reserve can be found on page 131 of the GAO Audit and are as follows..

Citigroup: $2.5 trillion ($2,500,000,000,000)
Morgan Stanley: $2.04 trillion ($2,040,000,000,000)
Merrill Lynch: $1.949 trillion ($1,949,000,000,000)
Bank of America: $1.344 trillion ($1,344,000,000,000)
Barclays PLC (United Kingdom): $868 billion ($868,000,000,000)
Bear Sterns: $853 billion ($853,000,000,000)
Goldman Sachs: $814 billion ($814,000,000,000)
Royal Bank of Scotland (UK): $541 billion ($541,000,000,000)

I could have missed it, if it was written about here. I did google it but found no link to ZH, so I'm putting more weight on the Curreny "Big Scare" being an intentional Distraction. So some $16 TRILLION, not $800 measly Billion, is what the FED "Created", so why is $4 Trilion such a big problem now? Actually its Not the amount they banty about now. I already pointed out that a bit over 50% is Internal I.O.U.s, and this kind of Debt is much easier to simply enter with those Computerizd Dollars Tres/FED is so good at doing. And again We see this $16Trillion was a "Secret"----a Secret----I suppose that's something like the $2+Trillion that the DOD had lost, announced on 9/10/01. I have a lot to add and hope that someome puts up a Thread on this. Now, when are they going to Move the Decimal Point by 2 notches, and make $1.00 Current equal $100.00 New.

It is really rewarding to see the Bankers squirm.  Wall Street seems worried but they are not selling because the are so sure that the Ponzi scheme will be approved and it will mean more money for them at Americans expense.

The FED and Wall Street has had a Credit Card that they use to charge up the Debt at all Americans expense.

Let them squirm.  Just increase the Debt ceiling a little at a time so the FED cannot use all of the Money and give it to the Banks.

It's obvious they're discussing how baby #2 just threw his bootie at the Teleprompter in Chief, as he interrupted their regularly scheduled cartoons for the umpteenth time that week.

LOL....what is Tyler really saying?

Perhaps we should look at ourselves first?

Who are we?  What has been our reaction?  How informed are we?  And why are we so righteious?  Do we (you and I) really have the answers?

I think that picture represents the general populace who continues to diddle and doddle based on propaganda they are spoon fed.  No one really has a clue, is confused, angry, frustrated.  That's exactly what they want.  They want you that way because....well....I'll let you figure that one out.  But the crazies are still trying to piece together the puzzle with pieces missing.

Our leaders are not stupid....not all of them.  Information is power and there are many things we are unaware or unable to piece together because we rather infatuate ourselves with ridiculous activities being played out for us.

Get a clue...and stop acting like babies.  There is less time than you think.  And trying to play their game will only lead  you to where they want you....a mindless wreck with no priority for those things in life which really matter.

good ruck!

I think even the "ignorant" public is still having a hard time wrapping its' head around how borrowing X Trillion(s) of dollars is going to solve our debt problem.

I think there is a growing "feeling" that this CANNOT continue and the "old guard" up on the hill (Repubs and Dems) are completely ignorant of that fact because they want to be. These people have solved NOTHING. Through their efforts to fix things, they have in fact made them worse.

It does not take a genius to figure out that the establishment parties of the U.S. Government are asking for even more money in the face of an absolute and EPIC failure in spending the previous 14.3T (of debt) Oh, and ACTUAL tax dollars were wasted too.

Insanity to keep following the same path.

There was as grand bargain between Wall Street, the Fed and the Government. Expansion of Government power through the expansion of credit unchecked by an ignorant populace (because they weren't paying for it, YET) and Wall Street brokers the transaction (and collects hefty fees while doing it).

It's the banks stupid.

I feel bad for those little guys. In about 20 years when they enter the workforce and I decide I may retire, those 2 will be paying for my SS and Medicare benefits. By then the ratio of workers to retirees will be about 2:1. As the first wave of the baby boom generation has finally hit the age of 65, most of the 77 million of us will now start to become net takers instead of net contributors. For the next 19 years, 10,000 boomers will be achieving retirement age. Corporate America planned for this long ago by phasing out the old traditional retirement plans and replacing them with 401K's and IRA's. Now state and local governments are facing insolvency due to underfunded pensions and poor planning. The current debate in Congress concerning deficits and debt ceilings are a short term smoke screen which does not address the true demographic problems they know exist but refuse to acknowledge. The amount of unfunded liabilities which are promised to the boomers is a staggering number. The estimates range from a low of $53 Trillion to a high of $202 Trillion over the next 20 years.  Lets see the Federal Reserve print that up!

We boomers were lucky. We were the most healthy, educated and privileged generation ever born. Our youth was spent virtually worry free. Our college educations were inexpensive, gas was cheap, jobs were plentiful and our futures were bright. We were the "Hippies" of the late 1960's and early 70's. Love was free and drugs were cheap (Or was it the other way around). Then the 1980's rolled around and we became "Yuppies". We began to believe that success was our birthright. We bought our BMW's and wore our V-neck sweaters. We turned conspicuous consumption into an art form. Hell, even Newsweek Magazine gave us our own year (1984). We were so busy clammoring to the top of the corporate ladder we forgot to develop any job or management skills which would lay a foundation for future generations to flourish. Then as we aged and hit our peak spending and borrowing years in the 1990's we went a bit middle age crazy. We splurged on second homes and McMansions. We thought fuel would be relatively cheap forever and bought gas guzzling SUV's. We also padded our financial statements and maxed out our credit cards trying to "keep up with the Jones's". Some of our brethren became bank CEO's and leading politicians, whose unethical and irresponsible behavior has been a reflection of our entire generation. We didn't want the party to end and they just tried to prolong it for us. We wanted it all and never learned nor cared for moderation.

And now in the Autumn of our lives it looks like we are going to get it all (of course in de-valued dollars) and leave those coming up behind us with nothing but debt, austerity and a lower standard of living. We will be reigning in our spending and hoping to save so we can offset future inflation. The malls, our cathedrals of consumption, will be ghosts towns compared to what they were, with "30%-70% off" signs decorating their stores windows. We will be net sellers of equities and mutual funds soon, not net buyers, so trade accordingly. It was fun while it lasted but now the piper must be paid. You know the old saying; the longer the party the bigger the hangover. Well this hangover may last 25-30 years until the last of my generation are dead either through natural causes or intergenerational warfare.

This weekend is going to be crazy, because there won't be a deal.  First of all Senator Reid said that they would table or defeat the bill that they are infighting over in the house regardless so this is just moot.  So if he does that then what?  All of a sudden Reid will have a plan that the house republicans will vote for after he essentially threw out the one they sent up to the Senate.  What will happen is that Obama will ask for a two day extension (he said he wouldn't do that) for them to make it happen.  Also what this does is to allow him to send out the money to SS and other places and not have to make a hard decision.  I think that 2 day or more extension won't go anywhere.
