"THANK YOU WALL STREET AND THANK YOU CITY OF LONDON"
Sssssshhhhhhh! You're not supposed to mention that City of London thingy, dude!
You're not supposed to be aware of the connection between London being the financial speculation capitol of the planet, and the City of London Corporation being the oldest continuing corporation in existence, grandfathered in as a corporate entity when incorporation laws came into being.
You're not supposed to be aware that the City of London Corporation effectively purchased the British monarchy back in the early 1700s, when they leased, in perpetuity, extreme chunks of the most valuable real estate, both in London proper and outlying areas, for the lowest possible 1700s' prices, which today are pennies (or pence) on the $1,000 or 1,000 pounds, etc.
And the monarchy, through their lesser agents (like the Spencer family, whence came Lady Di), lease out at fantastic prices to the peasants.
but but but you mean that the City of London is not part of merry ol' England?
you mean it's a corporate city-state like Vatican City and Washington DC?
you mean that the US Constitution is really just a god-damned piece of paper whenever we choose to do bizness with any entity that does bizness within these territories?
While WS does not operate under the purview of angels and saints, WS can't hold a candle to the corruption, moral turpitude, and wealth destruction that our politicians are responsible for.
Wars that never end (Afghanistan 11 years, WWII was resolved in 6)
Writing the check(s) that bailed out WS
Forcing the banks to make bad loans to people who couldn't afford them via the Community Reinvestment Act, threatening them with fines/regulation/penalties if they didn't comply.
Affirmative Action, where people are granted privilege based on the color of their skin, not the content of their character.
Burdensome regulation and the highest corporate tax rate in the world that have pushed jobs over seas and created a disincentive to grow business domestically.
The TSA
Creating a generation of welfare recipients where individual responsibility was replaced by government sponsored nanny care.
16 Trillion in debt
Turning the greatest country in the world into the one where the only metric we lead by is incarcerated citizens.
...I could really make this list long. Like real fuckin' long.
We have one of the lowest rates of voting in a democracy based government in the world. I often hear people complain about the state of affairs while at the same time declaring they don't vote. In addition to that, it's widely known that politicians say anything to get elected, only to get elected and do the antithesis of what they preached. However, no one holds them accountable and for some reason (that I have yet to understand) they get re-elected. I talked to a girl yesterday who was complaining about how wrong it was that Obama didn't do what he said he would do and she was upset about his performance, while literally in the next breath saying she is voting for Obama again simply because she's a democrat.
It's a very rooster/egg dilemma from my perspective.
"We have one of the lowest rates of voting in a democracy based government in the world."
No wonder there... we either are encouraged to vote for one inept idiot or the other. Fat chance a guy like RP or anyone else outside the 'chosen circle' will get airtime or on a ballet.
And seriously, who has proof the vote counting is legit?
Fuck voting! It's the 2 party system thats the problem! I'm sick and tired of hearing that we need to participate in a political system that is fundamentally flawed! I sincerely believe a vast majority of our problems stem from a 2 party system. Presidential ticket should contain a minimum of 8 candidates. Government wants to say diversity is a good thing, then lets start with them. FUCKERS---
Let's not forget the combined efforts of the Fed, Wall Street and the ratings agencies on Trust Preferred Securities or TruPS. Allowed banks to be completely indiscriminate in terms of growth. When is capital not capital? When it's debt...
Combined with the easy funding from the FHLB system and you had the perfect recipe for disaster.
Hft Computers, Weekly Options, Sub penny executions, Etf's which control whole sectors, Naked Shorting to drive a Company into Bankruptcy. Options to push the price down or up to kill anyone on the opposite side of the trade. Upgrades, Downgrades to accomplish ones goals after a position is taken. False rumors, good and bad to influence the price of a Stock. Publishing damaging articles after a Downgrade to influence a Stock price after one has taken a position to support the price going down.
Plus, more but who is counting? Then Wall Street is wondering why no one is in the Market anymore.
Last but not least. Wall Street buying a $10,000. bottle of wine on the profit from someone who just lost their entire $10,000. College fund that they built up for 10 years and laughing about it.
"In a world that proclaims the non-existence of the mind, the moral righteousness of rule by brute force, the penalizing of the competent in favor of the incompetent, the sacrifice of the best to the worst - in such a world, the best have to turn against society and become its deadliest enemies" Dr Akston
taxpayers are not guilty of whole mistakes???? really??? they have no part in this????? so now the people have no responsibility for this entire debt/credit disaster??? righhhhht.....the u.s. citizens lust for all things bigger and better....all placed on their credit cards.........all placed on their home equity lines of credit.....have no bearing on this mess?? come onnnn.............
Yes there are think tanks that control the scope of ciriculum in schools that funnel kids to go into debt, buy houses, invest ing stocks. diddnt you notice how saving is/was discouraged. Ciruculums are geared heavily toward debt serfdom in this country. Savers are discouraged as you are missing the train if you dont buy into the good old 401K.
Kito we agree on something. To say that politicians, bankers, and taxpayers aren't all culpable in this mess is disingenuous at best. After all you must have demand to sell a product, no matter how shitty it is.
The demand to be lied to (promised X, Y, and Z to be funded by the public largesse) in exchange for a portion of your labor (taxes) and a lot of your liberty (laws, codes, statutes, by-laws, ordinances, rules, regulations and their enforcement at gunpoint).
Look at Greece. By how many orders of magnitude does the segment of the Greek population with a net worth below $100,000 exceed that with a net worth above it? And yet, they continue to languish in economic misery.
It is one thing to blame bankers and politicians for selling you into debt serfdom before you were even conceived, quite another to blame them, solely, for your remaining there - through multiple generations across entire societies.
And in nations that purport to be democratic, where the people routinely vote to confirm their assent (i.e. consent) to bondage? It is so pathetic it's tragic. How many elections must be held before more than a miniscule percentage of the people realize it's all a sham???
PS: Apropos of nothing but also literally everything: The time to cut your losses and get out is NOW.
eggggactly........thats the problem with this country....its always somebody elses fault...no personal responsibility taken in this country anymore.......helpless, reality tv watching, high fructose consuming, iphone buying masses who no longer believe anything is their fault anymore.........
It won't be their fault either when reality like a scythe scrapes their fatty asses from the face of the Earth.
Open, open o memory hole! Take these thoughts near the end of all things and safe them away from my heart. I cannot bear knowing that I am the reaper and the wheat and have fallen and fallen and fallen.
you have obviously never had the displeasure of trying to get someone you care about to "unplug" from the banking. 401K, ponzi scam and invest in PM's. They are brainwashed. Fear of the value of the PM's going down in value is #1. Sure its ultimatly their fault, but a lot of time and effort by central planners has been put into getting many people to be compacent about giving all their money to someone they dont know to take care of them when theyre old.
You got this quarterly statement that says you got this but you cant take it our untill your dead.
Lots of haters here go figure, but finance pros are still a main part of the ZH readership. Not advocating bailouts by any stretch, but to hate the whole City (and WS) is a stretch.
A while back I was feeling frustrated about all this crap. You know, that kind of day. So I wrote some fiction where I had TheMan get what he had coming to him:
It's about winning, right? If you can get your hands on it, then it's yours. Who knows what you did, except maybe the angels? And the angels aren't even real are they. That's something we tell our kids -- don't make the angels cry -- then we show them how to cheat at cards because winning is the main thing. And if there are no angels then there is no Heaven either, and if no Heaven then there is no Hell so what is there to worry about? Shadows are for scaring babies. Where is the mighty darkness now that money has lit the whole world on fire? Darkness has run away into the flickering shadows! Money has won. And what is that in the shadows now? And why am I bleeding like this? Where is my money? And where is my arm? And why am I dead when money bought eternity? Why am I burning where is my money and why am I bur
it was an angel afterall and suddenly i am afraid of the dark
Edit: for some reason I really like this exchange, perhaps because it encapsulates the difference between the abstract world of humans and the cold, hungry world of reality:
The angel looked up at the much taller woman. “Allow me my needs. You know I've been running a quart low. And besides would he have faired any differently had he wandered into one of your dark alleys?”
“I would have gutted him like a pig,” the tigress said as if it happened every day, which it did. “But I would not have first lied to him.”
Personally, I would not use the term Jew to describe the people who are ruining the world and causing so much harm to everyone else. Although the term zionist might be appropriate, globalist would work as well, as would elitist as would sociopath. These are the people who have banded together under whatever moniker you give them and have decided to promote their own interests at the expense of everyone else (and under a threat to everyone who does not do as they say) ... because gosh darnit giving oneself the power to create fiat money gives one the power the determine the life, death and quality of existence of everyone else ... and no matter how inbred and incompetent the progeny of the self-appointed masters are, they also have that same power to do whatever they want with everyone else. Pretty sick, eh ... star-bellied sneeches all.
Actually, it didn't end modern capitalism but was responsible for it. What we are seeing is the result of increasing debt, inevitable in capitalist systems as more move to service indusitries, esp. financing.
AMEN
Who'd this guy blow to get this unworthy piece on ZH?
Not even worthy of Pintrest

I call it:CHINISIFICATION
Self imposed slavery. That's what the west is going through. USA seems to be last one to be about to fall into chinisification.
Anything but 'Americanism'...
Chinisification is Love for slavery. Never understood why!
Americanism used to be Love for Freedom. No longer is, unfortunately.
Again, how can one love slavery?
I'm amazed WS keeps screwing people over & then they come back 4 more. Kinda like financial Stockholm Syndrome.

You've gotta love that they closed up 100 points today, just to show they can.
While WS does not operate under the purview of angels and saints, WS can't hold a candle to the corruption, moral turpitude, and wealth destruction that our politicians are responsible for.
yeah I'm with you. It's not really the Street, but the political tinkering that's behind most of the issues.
I always say you can fight the waves, but not the tide. The reckoning will come eventually.
