Three US Aircraft Carriers Now In The Middle East With Fourth En Route

Tyler Durden's picture

A week ago we reported news that Middle East veteran aircraft carrier CVN-74 Stennis was ending its brief sabbatical prematurely, and far earlier than previously expected, and heading right back into the field, er sea, of action. As Kitsapsun reported, "Bremerton-based aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis is returning to the Middle East much sooner than expected. The Navy hasn't officially announced the new deployment plan for the Stennis, said spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Zach Harrell." The ship came home to Naval Base Kitsap on March 2 after seven months of launching planes into Iraq and Afghanistan. Generally, it wouldn't go back to the Fifth Fleet area of responsibility for four to five years, after a deployment to the Western Pacific and a maintenance period. But with Iran making threats, crew members learned Saturday they'll be leaving again in late August for eight months." We concluded that shortly, Stennis will be the third carrier accompanying Lincoln and Enterprise. As it turns out, a third carrier was already en route, and as of today, CVN 69 Eisenhower is either at the opening of the Straits of Hormuz, or just past it. That makes 3 aircraft carriers in the middle east, 2 in the Gulf and the Arabian Sea and one just off the coast of Syria. And technically, the LHD 7 Iwo Jima Big Deck Amphibious ship, which is also just off the coast of Iran region, makes three and a half. Which means that a 5th one (rounded up) - Stennis - is coming in 1-2 months. Good luck Iran.

Source: Stratfor

So to recap: Four US aircraft carriers. One big deck amphibious warfare ship. One Iran. WTI well below its 2012 highs even with Bernanke having engaged in yet another flow-boosting Qualitative Easing operation. And One presidential election in 4 months.

The Iwo Jima is full of Marines. Marines with nothing to do but be pissed that there is nothing to do. Sailed the USS Juneau in my youth for a couple weeks. The troops get cranky as REVEILLE is 0530 no matter what.  PT at 0600, wait the chow line.

But with Iran making threats

Really? What are those threats? Inquiring minds would like to know. The threats are clearly coming from the US and Israel AGAINST Iran and their nuclear program.

Everything else is hogwash, propaganda and confusing facts for theory.

From here:  http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/middle_east/iran-says-it-launched-sa...

[Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said] From now onward, we will support and help any nations, any groups fighting against the Zionist regime across the world ... The Zionist regime is a true cancer tumor on this region that should be cut off ... And it definitely will be cut off. ...

He suggested that Iran’s support for the Palestinian militant group Hamas and for Lebanon’s Hezbollah had helped lead to victory in their battles with “the Zionist state,” as Israel is officially called here.  "We got involved in the anti-Israeli issues, which resulted in victory in the 33-day and 22-day wars,” Khamenei said, referring to Israel’s 2006 war with Lebanon and its incursion into the Gaza Strip in late 2008.

Not exactly something that could be called sitting on their hands.  Reasonable folks can interpret the behavior by Iran referenced in these remarks as threatening.

Reasonable people can conclude that Iran is not a threat to the United States of America and therefore this fight is none of our business. Of course there are those with a dead Muslim baby fetish who want others to pay for their sick ambitions.

And we should add that Israel's constant statements that they will attack Iran should in no way be regarded at threating.

EZRA POUND

“The Nomadic Parasites will shift out of London and into Manhattan. And this will be presented under a camouflage of national slogans. It will be represented as an American victory. It will not be an American victory.

Until you know who has lent what to whom, you know nothing whatever of politics, you know nothing whatever of history, you know nothing of international wrangles.” — Ezra Pound (1885–1972)

“The monopoly of money, or the restriction of its circulation, is merely a variation of this simple form of monopoly. That is all. The stupid fall into the trap. Wars are provoked in succession, deliberately, by the great usurers, in order to create debts, to create scarcity, so that they can extort the interest on these debts, so that they can raise the price of money (i.e., the price of the various monetary units controlled by, or in the possession of, the same autocrats), altering the prices of the various monetary units when it suits them, raising and lowering the prices of the various foodstuffs when it suits them, completely indifferent to the human victim, to the accumulated treasures of civilization, to the cultural heritage.” — Ezra Pound (1885–1972)

ROTTENSCHILDS

The History of the House of Rottenschilds by ANDREW HITCHCOCK

"The Rottenschilds have been in control of the world for a very long time, their tentacles reaching into many aspects of our daily lives, as is documented in the following timeline.  However, before you jump to the timeline, please read this invaluable introduction which will tell you who the Rottenschilds are as oppose to who they claim to be.

. . .

The most wealthy bloodline in the world bar none and the leader of the Ashkenazi J--s in the world today is the Rottenschilds family.  As you will see in the timeline, the  Rottenschilds have obtained this position through lies, manipulation and murder.  Their bloodline also extends into the Royal Families of Europe, and the following family names: ASTOR; BUNDY; COLLINS; DUPONT; FREEMAN; KENNEDY; MORGAN; OPPENHEIMER; ROCK3FELL3R; SASSOON; SCHIFF; TAFT; and VAN DUYN.

Reading Hitchcock one will realize that the Rock3fell3r family are Rottenschilds descendants through a FEMALE bloodline!!!

And how this family intermarried with it's first and second cousins to preserve the family fortune (of the 18 marriages by Mayer Amschel Rottenschild's grandchildren, 16 were between first cousins - a practice known today as inbreeding).

ILLUMINATI, BILDERBERG

The Illuminati are a kind of secret world government, their main goal is to create the New World Order (NWO), a fascist-communist global 1984-style dictatorship where every citizen is totally controlled with an implanted RFID chip. One of the exoteric key institutions of the illuminations are the Bilderbergs, for example.

Within the illuminati one can distinguish THREE circles:

1) EXOTERIC (OUTER) circle: e.g. Bilderberg Group, Trilateral Commission, Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and others. Many on this level (e.g. one-time Bilderberg participants) are more or less clueless what's really going on, but their egos are pleased that they are so close to those with the real power.

2) INNER circle: e.g. regular Bilderberg participants

3) ESOTERIC circles: e.g. Grand Masters of occult societies. That's where the NWO (New World Order) plans are erected. If these plans are implemented or not depends a lot on whether the outer circle can be convinced.

Seeing the sharp escalation of world troubles, seems it's true what's stated there about the biological clock concerns of the puppet masters!

"THERE IS ENORMOUS BIOLOGICAL TIME PRESSURE, time is running out for the esoteric circle: ZBIG BRZEZINSKI, the author of "The GRAND CHESSBOARD", is 82 years old, HENRY KISSINGER 87 years, and DAVID ROCK3F3LL3R even 95 years. They have worked many decades for their big goal and have to act (too) fast, which will bring about their downfall."

Fonzannoon - Your story reminds me of this Sufi, maybe Persian story.

The New Water

One day, the mysterious prophet-saint Khidr told the world, “In a few days, all water throughout the earth from natural sources will disappear, and be replaced with new water that will make people crazy when they drink it. However, any water that is specially stored will not undergo this transformation.”

Only a man named Hasan paid attention to this, and he gathered water and stored it in anticipation of the change.

Three days later, just as Khidr said, the water from natural sources stopped running, and was replaced by a new variety of water.

Everybody drank the new water except for Hasan, who had saved and specially stored the original water. And soon Hasan noticed that all the people began acting differently, and that they had no knowledge Khidr’s prophecy or of the day that the waters were changed.

When Hasan began interacting with the people, they thought that he was crazy, and they ostracized him.

Hasan continued to drink his stored water for a few more weeks, but he could not take the loneliness anymore, and he decided to drink the new water and become like everyone else.

From then on, the people regarded Hasan as a former madman who had his sanity renewed.

most people will be scared shitless and will do whater the military tells them.   Listen to the stories from military guys from during and after katrina... they seized guns, its already happened.  people turned them over, because they didn't have a choice.    It also happened in Germany pre-WWII.  sure there will be holdouts, but small minority.

Wed, 07/18/2012 - 21:37 | 2630435 nmewn
nmewn's picture

Some of the guns were found in "abandoned houses"...some were confiscated from, shall we say, urban campers looking for someone to jack up...and yes, some were taken illegaly.

Lawsuits were filed on the "illegal" takings of property and they were returned...some in unworking order, yes. It was martial law...but the law still prevailed.

You will find no stauncher defender of the second than me but the reality was different than portrayed.

What you described is sunny skies and convoys rolling up to haul people off to FEMA camps vs Katrina with rampant looting of flat screens and booze to feed the starving children...lol...two very different things.

you are dreaming if you don't think that racial chaos and rioting are in the near future for the US.  it will provide the perfect set up for martial law, and most in the middle class will be begging for the military to step in and "restore order"...

nmewn's picture

By "racial chaos" I guess you mean blacks and whites/brown and whites?

Oh I dunno...this ain't the 30's-40's anymore.

Could there ever be "pockets" in urban AND rural areas that are no go's because of a strangers skin color?...sure, we have that now.

By and large the color of a mobs skin fades from view when one is protecting their friends, family and property from roving bands of banditos. I don't think two of my sons friends (one black, one mexican) are going to wake up one day and want to kill him based on his skin & hair color...they've already defended him (and he them) multiple times against those outside their "clique"...what they have in common is they are in fact, middle class and friends, as are our families. This is in a rural enviroment but I would expect this to be the case in urban areas as well.

Personally, I'm waiting for the day when one of these stupid little punk ass "flash mobs" runs up on someone with a concealed carry just going about their business shopping or entertaing their family...the carnage will be great and the hot air will flow forth from certain quarters like winds off the Sahara but at the end of the day a judgement of right & wrong will be made by the public at large...and it won't be against the guy who killed criminals in self defense.

To your larger point of martial law...a currency collapse would certainly give some agitators opportunities...but who would the general public hold responsible?...politicians & their cronys I would suspect...the same people who would be directing the army.

We outnumber them by gigantic numbers.

Yawn. They've been playing this game for years now. I'm pretty sure that Iran is in on this, playing together with US/Israhell, and they're having laughs about it over the phone. For example, they've been saying that Iran will acquire nuclear weapons "any day now" since at least 2006, probably earlier. They've talked about sanctions against Iran for at least as long. And didn't we have these "aircraft carriers are gathering at the gulf" 'news' just recently, and nothing happened? And now they're gathering AGAIN and the story is AGAIN told like doom is imminent?

What exactly is going on behind the scenes I don't know, but it's getting boring.

Probably not something any lone hacker would be capable of as it required espionage of the actual faciltity, multiple zero-day Windows exploits, knowledge of the PLCs etc.

If we want to end militarism and US hegemony over much of the world there are only two ways to do it:

2. Hope Iran embarrasses the hell out of the US government and inflicts major casualties on the US military.

Sometimes the goal is even more important than the means.

If the US or Israel actually attacks Iran, China wiill dump treasuries en masse and release a statement say they are enacting sanctions agains the US.

China won't sell US Treasuries.  They'll likely let the US "ante off" while they hold onto Treasuries because, well, we are their #1 customer!  If they sell our Treasuries, they bascially are cutting off the majority of their workforces' customer base money supply.  Plus, the US could also enact sanctions against China ,and of course, BLOCK the sale of those Treasuries and say to China, "You are stuck with them".  China has basically married its economy to the United States.  Which is fitting ,b/c both economy are run like communist State Corporate entities that suppress workers and build asset prices.

So China, to hedge versus any oil or war sheanegians, basically lets the US ante off, and buys up Gold.  China doesn't really have to do anything.  But that's not to say they have their own problems, most of them self created.  They've built in-state infastructure that they can't pay for (and no one wants to invest in) and the working base, who bought into communism because they thought it would provide a better life, is finding out that being a serf.........kinda sucks balls.

Still, my post on Huffington would of gotten a much different reaction I imagine.

Somehow, the truth needs to go viral.
My experience in life is that you can't jam an idea down someones throat unless the time is right for it to be received. So first steps first.

It would help the cause if the word would get out to the military that they're nothing but the protectors of banksters and the CORRUPT status quo.

The government now survives by use of force & bribery.
Dissuade its minions, deny it revenue .. and it collapses.

Yes it is all about oil.  We import over 45 percent of our oil.  If you want our society to continue as we know it, you had better be willing to fight for it..... and be willing to pay the butchers bill or reduce our/your consumption.  And there will be a large butchers bill to be paid for Iran.....

I just finished reading this document

http://csis.org/files/publication/120222_Iran_Gulf_Mil_Bal_II_WMD.pdf

It is heavy reading (very poorly written IMO) but well cited, page 118 it gets to the point .....

CSIS is part of the military industrial complex (with additional funding coming from large oil companies), but it is a window into "their thinking......."

I think this excerpt from a speech delivered in 1933, by Major General Smedley Butler, USMC very fitting.

War is just a racket. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of people. Only a small inside group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few at the expense of the masses.........

"It may seem odd for me, a military man to adopt such a comparison. Truthfulness compels me to. I spent thirty- three years and four months in active military service as a member of this country's most agile military force, the Marine Corps. I served in all commissioned ranks from Second Lieutenant to Major-General. And during that period, I spent most of my time being a high class muscle- man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the Bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism.

I suspected I was just part of a racket at the time. Now I am sure of it. Like all the members of the military profession, I never had a thought of my own until I left the service. My mental faculties remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of higher-ups. This is typical with everyone in the military service. I helped make Mexico, especially Tampico, safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefits of Wall Street. The record of racketeering is long. I helped purify Nicaragua for the international banking house of Brown Brothers in 1909-1912 (where have I heard that name before?). I brought light to the Dominican Republic for American sugar interests in 1916. In China I helped to see to it that Standard Oil went its way unmolested."

Hey Putin - How many aircraft carriers do you have big tough guy?  How many?  I can't hear you??  1/2 of a cheese-ball one.

Hey buddy - let us remind you what a defense budget 30X yours buys - 12 fucking Nitmitz Class Carrier Groups AND another 10 BDA groups.

That's 22 versus .5 - Now do your big talking, tough guy impression, then go sulk in the corner.  While we take out Syria and Iran (your two client states) in fell swoop.

Each Nimitz carry's 80-130 top line fighters, fighter-bombers, bombers, radar aircraft, signal jammers/anti-radar killers, anti submarine craft, not to mention the Aegis Cruisers armed with Harpoon and Cruise Missiles.

What does Russia's one aircraft carry a couple of su-33s and a few cruise missiles.  A sad joke.

Russia, or more accurately the USSR, considered the aircraft carrier useless in warfare against an enemy equipped with advanced cruise missiles and other modern weapon systems, and decided not to produce a fleet of them. They are very useful for bullying weak countries though.

Are you nuts?  Russia/USSR CHOSE not to build a huge fleet of aircraft carrier battle groups because they are useless in warfare!

That is so funny!!

And I guess the fact they spent $52 Billion on their TOTAL defense budget last year (mostly wages to the huge obsolete army they have), and ONE Nimitz class aircraft carrier battle group is somewhere around $30 Billion fully equipped, factor in R&D and the cost is more like $200 Billion - has nothing to do with it.

Cruise missiles are useless against them - even the hyper sonic scram jet sunburns.  Even the supposed Chinese Dongfeng 21, is still largely untested.  We do have advanced defense systems to counter these threats - and they are getting much better by the day!

Well there you have it - they have two choices do nothing or start world war III.  Why do you think Putin is so freaked out by our missile shield?

He knows it works and is getting better at an exponential rate that they can never match, and it disarms his client states threats.  They can no longer extort from the west at will (NK).

Here is how the world works:

THE ECONOMIC REALITY IS DETERMINED BY POLITICAL REALITY, POLITICAL REALITY IS DETERMINED BY MILITARY REALITY.

When you control the game - gold and silver are hopeless.  For example, when you can print infinite amounts of money to short the paper metals markets you can drive the price to any level you want.  If folks start buying the metals through their commodities brokers - you take them down (and their clients collateral with it).

Game gets a little tough - pass a new AML/Patriot act law, or pass a law making gold illegal to own - or whatever they fucking feel like doing.

Don't like the last election -have your toadies on the supreme court make corporations people!  Hey why not.

Confiscate people's property with an income tax, then seizure laws, then a phony banking cartel, then a scammed up stock market, then a incredibly manipulated bond market - twist interest rates to wherever you feel.  Bond market vigilantes!  What joke!  OK BMV bet against an unlimited printing press - how's that working for you.

As long as you have the big stick everyone has to play along.

The Roman Empire lasted 677 years - not a bad run.

You don't understand we as species are in the mists of a sea change.  Technological power is increasing at an exponential rate - with this growth military power grows exponentially as well.  Standing armies are becoming obsolete - in 20 years robotic armies will rule.  Who has the best technology innovation?

Our only real threat is our own technological pace of advance.

Rise of the machines

http://www.kurzweilai.net/rise-of-the-machines-2?utm_source=KurzweilAI+D...

Machines are becoming so intelligent that they could pose an existential threat, argues Skype founder Jaan Tallinn, Sidney Morning Herald reports.

Tallinn says human-driven technological progress has largely replaced evolution as the dominant force shaping our future as machines are becoming smarter than we are, so if we are not careful this could lead to a “sudden global ecological catastrophe”.

It is hard for people adjust to exponential change  - we were wired for linear change (like the first 100,000 yrs of human history).  The last 100 years have been tough, the last 10 years tougher, what's coming near impossible.

Give me a break! "We were wired for linear change" - umm do you have a reference for this assertion? I've adapted pretty well to exponential change as have most others over the world.

Previous generations could project into the future and count on things staying pretty much the same from decade to decade.  Especially in regard to military tactics and weaponry.

That has all changed - it is very hard for the average person to project as to what change will occur over the next decade.  One thing is certain - major technological breakthroughs and innovations.

We can look back and say - yea I can deal with the changes we have witnessed - the future will come at us much more rapidly.

Read The Singularity is Near by Kurzweil

The exponential growth in computing technology suggested by Moore's Law is commonly cited as a reason to expect a singularity in the relatively near future, and a number of authors have proposed generalizations of Moore's Law. Computer scientist and futurist Hans Moravec proposed in a 1998 book that the exponential growth curve could be extended back through earlier computing technologies prior to the integrated circuit. Futurist Ray Kurzweil postulates a law of accelerating returns in which the speed of technological change (and more generally, all evolutionary processes[17]) increases exponentially, generalizing Moore's Law in the same manner as Moravec's proposal, and also including material technology (especially as applied to nanotechnology), medical technology and others.  Like other authors, though, he reserves the term "singularity" for a rapid increase in intelligence (as opposed to other technologies), writing for example that "The Singularity will allow us to transcend these limitations of our biological bodies and brains ... There will be no distinction, post-Singularity, between human and machine".   He also defines his predicted date of the singularity (2045) in terms of when he expects computer-based intelligences to significantly exceed the sum total of human brainpower, writing that advances in computing before that date "will not represent the Singularity" because they do "not yet correspond to a profound expansion of our intelligence."

The term "technological singularity" reflects the idea that such change may happen suddenly, and that it is difficult to predict how such a new world would operate.

My former manager at GE Aviation recently gave a speech on Singularity. I believe he thought it would occur within the next 15 years. Pretty scary stuff. Our future is bleak.

I love Zero Hedge. where else are you gonna get quotes from Ray Kurzweil and Smedley Butler? Singularity? Most people are television controlled meatbots already. The Singularity has already occurred about 1951. Man and machine are of one mind and his name is Howdy Doody. Kowabonga! greetings from the Peanut Gallery.

And this technological change will maintain its torrid pace as it will be fueled by America's excellent education system sending scads of scientifically and mathematically literate young high school and college graduates into the workforce.

You are wrong on 2 issues here.

While it is possible to manipulate the price of the gold while there is still some left to sell, once there is none actual physical gold or silver available, the game of price manipulation is over. Russia has enough fx reserves to buy lots of PM, and let the USA keep the price low as well while they stock up. In fact this manipulation suits them just fine.

The shield is a big nice paycheck to the crony military industry of USA, and useless in stoping the Russias nuclear weapons.

You are right about one thing.

Russia has a choice, and from little bit of history reading, you will find out that once someone threaten their existence, their choice is to fight back. Until then they hardly have any reason to go around fighting wars, look at the map of the world, they already have all the territory they need.

Well it would take Russia and China quite awhile to amass that much gold.  We can sell them all the physical they could afford to buy and still keep the price controlled.

Or just put export controls on the export and sale of gold - and fix the price. Or seize all the private gold and gold mines in the US and fix the price.  That's an easy one - already been done before!

The shield is not to stop an all out nuclear attack by the Russian's - that would be world suicide.  If it came to that  - the price of your gold would be the last of your worries (if your still around).

The shield is to stop Russia and China from using it's client states (Iran, Syria, NK) crude missile and nuclear threats to extort concessions from Europe, Korea and Japan.

This just another chess move like the Jupiter's in Turkey, the ss4/ss5 USSR deployments in Cuba, and Regan's INF missiles in Europe.

You are right that it is going to take some time to exchange Russias $500 billions of IOU-s for the PM, after all they want to get the best price possible. At todays price, they can get some 10000 tones or gold, and I am sure they hope that FED does everything in its power to keep the price down.

The shield is there just to make money for the friends in the right places, and very little else. I wish it was bit better and it could really stop a rogue attack, but even that is a big doubt.

USA is being used, and it will be sacrified if need be.

Time still to wake up.
