Three Years Of Zero Hedge
Today is the three year anniversary of Zero Hedge.
Starting with humble beginnings and even humbler aspirations, and proceeding through over half a billion page views filled with breaking news, analyses, cynical ruminations, snarky sarcasm, grotesque hyperbole (two words best used to explain our current socio-economic catastrophe), and broadly - entertainment - this website has been lucky enough to grow into the world biggest fully independent financial blog (whatever that means), garnering between 1 and 2 million page views daily (usually VIX-dependent), and serving around 4 million unique readers per month from all around the world.
While we enjoy cutting through the endless media bullshit and propaganda, exposing stupidity, learning from our mistakes, often with a much-needed dose of self-preserving humor that is so critical in this day and age, and hoping to satisfy a persistently unmet niche in the media space, the truth is that no matter the content, the site would not have succeeded or achieved anything without you, our reader. And while most come here to quietly read, learn, snicker, or just to pass the time between trade confirms and fake European bailout headlines, others prefer to engage in direct commentary, often times boisterous, frequently venting, and always uncensored and uncut. Because more than anything, this is a place for anyone and everyone who has an open mind, and more importantly, a sense of humor.
It is to you, our readers, that we owe our sincerest gratitude for providing not only one of the most educated and intelligent, not to mention outspoken, readership bases one could hope for, but for constantly engaging us, and helping us grow and develop in ways we had never thought possible.
It is this what "social media" is all about.
As for everything else, it will happen... in due course. The transition from point A to point B will not be fast and it will not be easy, but it will take place. Because systems out of equilibrium always revert in due course.
And we expect to be there covering, analyzing, and certainly mocking it, every step of the way.

Found this site while Googling "credit default auction" which led me here almost 3 years ago (February 2009 as I remember). At that time hardly anybody knew what a CDS was, let alone what an auction was all about. I'd been following the auctions but the lack of info at that time was disturbing and still is.

Hell, I belived every bit of it. I have so many damn bullets I have bullets for guns I do not even own. I got gold, I got silver, I got oil. When you guys wrote the word 'starve', I said it ain't happening. For a solid week I snatched ferel cats off the neighborhood streets, stuffed them with what ever rodent I could catched and stored them in the deep freeze. But, two years later, there ain't no one starving, there ain't no one to shoot. I got to get rid of some of this stuff- the carrying cost is killing me.
Well anyway, the majority of the stuff I learn here I really wish I didn't know about; growing vegetables does not require any knowledge about the Euro, Iran, GS, etal.

· When we would post Tyler's stories on other major sites, ZH website meltdown would begin. Marla smoking in a cave would appear on your screen. Not enough bandwidth.

No I haven't made that contribution yet, been waiting for Leo and GW to be kicked off the site, but we succeeded in running Leo off (and it was fun), so maybe I should be happy with 50% success, and I can still enjoy hammering GW in the ground :)

Furthermore, I can't remember my favorite historical figure on the security questions. It took 2 attempts to get the author right. Plus, I have a new debit card, so I am unable to verify the number they have on file for me. Wait a minute. Maybe my favorite historical figure was an author or a historical literary figure. Maybe Sherlock Holmes? D'Artagnan? Mark Twain? No. PayPal has caused me enough frustration. Can you rig it so I can use my debit card without PayPal? I'm not sure if I even like PayPal, anymore. I only had them for ebay. Ebay sucks and I buy all my obscure music from Amazon, now. Besides, there is a significant group of people that believes PayPal is evil. The sphinchter can remain relaxed for a couple hundred years once the leftists and Christians understand just how masterfully they have been played. In the long term, this will require a free internet plus revolutions which allow the schools to go back to teaching economics, history, and critical thinking. In the near term, it will require deep and personal suffering for the sheeple, because most of them are so far gone that pain is their only remaining path to enlightenment. If the sheeple never look in the mirror, the NWO will get their world government and Earth will be a slave planet forever.
One way or the other, the herd gets thinned and that is one of their crown jewels if not THE crown jewel. Your summary in your first blog on this chain says it all though.
Too bad they don't want to thin the herd by printing up a few clownbux for any sheep who want to get fixed. Would save a lot on welfare and prisons, help the environment, etc. But they would also have less chaos to exploit, less of an underclass to keep the middle class scared, less cheap labour, etc. Perhaps most importantly, this method would not release energy from the crushing of human souls, which Satan uses to power his brain and get high. If the culling is inevitable, it is in their interest to eliminate most of humanity in the most traumatic way they can manage. And if Satan thinks he is about to lose, he will go out gloriously with the mother of all benders.

I now know many of the slang terms and abbreviations used in the banking (theft) world, and can discuss the economy/banking/politics and make sense (hopefully) to other financial 'sheep' that I work with. My friend always jokes about giving me the gift of zerohedge, but it was definitely a great gift. I have been afflicted with the disease for about 2.5 years though just admitted it formally last fall. I have been trying to spread the gift around like a good internet virus.

You guys unravel most of the BS flinging around the financial scene for me. The financial weapons of mass destruction maze is at least partially explained most of the time by your articles, and what you guys don't unravel, your audience makes a good attempt at. Except for the shills, trolls, and operatives. They all can go fuck themselves before they die cancerous and alone.
