TMZ Posts First Picture Of Steve Jobs After Resignation

Tyler Durden's picture

Just released from TMZ. Our thoughts are with Steve.

And for anyone who is still unfamiliar with the man behind the legend, read the following Playboy interview with Jobs from 1985: the visionary brilliance oozes with every word he utters. Yet the one comment our government may want to heed very carefully is the following brilliant encapsulation of our economic quandary: "I'm convinced that to give away a dollar effectively is harder than to make a dollar." And therein lies the rub.

@ gunsmoke  Then you should be happy when government appointed death panels make those decisions for people.  You know, when they think a person has put up enough of a fight, lived a full enough life, when they decide that the person's life is of such low quality that the quantity is too much.  For those who trust in the medical establishment, this might turn out to be a blessing in disguise, since modern slice and burn *medicine* doesn't heal people it kills people.  When they tell you there's nothing else they can do, that you're a goner, is when you have your best last chance of survival.

Kind of like the 72 Virgins concept, myself, but then again, if I had to spend eternity at my current age, that opportunity would quickly become a chore.

On a serious note, it has already been said more elegantly than I can, but thank you, Steve.....for a long list of things.

Regardless of outcome, perhaps there is some solace he can take knowing that his inventions, his vision, lays the building blocks for as yet unimagined new breakthroughs in medicine, as well virtually every field that touches humanity.

Peace, 'bro. You are in my prayers.

My second thought was "THIS guy is going to be the Chairman of the Board?". If he can't even walk with someone helping him, how's he going to even conduct high level design and "vision" meetings.

Last classless thought: when he dies, are they going to put him on display like Lenin?

After wasting months struggling with Linux I realized that the excessive time investment required is a feature, not a bug. Linux Flavorboys like their 'community' and want Linux to be time consuming to use. So those apt-get updates that reduce your OS to a bashell are intentional.

The time wasted tinkering with Linux, like on an old British sports car, is greater than time wasted on Wxx virus checks and paying for software to clean your Windows PC.

Thus the 1.0% market penetration of Linux.

Yeah, servers are mostly Linux. Run by IT pros. 99% of people are not IT pros...

If there was one song for Steve it would be Rush's "Mission"

Hold your fire
Keep it burning bright
Hold the flame 'til the dream ignites
A spirit with a vision is a dream
With a mission

I hear their passionate music
Read the words that touch my heart
I gaze at their feverish pictures
The secrets that set them apart

When I feel the powerful visions
Their fire has made alive
I wish I had that instinct
I wish I had that drive

Spirits fly on dangerous missions
Imaginations on fire
Focused high on soaring ambitions
Consumed in a single desire

In the grip of a nameless possession
A slave to the drive of obsession
A spirit with a vision is a dream
With a mission

I watch their images flicker
Bringing light to a lifeless screen
I walk through their beautiful buildings
And I wish I had their dreams
But dreams don't need to have motion
To keep their spark alive
Obsession has to have action
Pride turns on the drive

It's cold comfort
To the ones without it
To know how they struggled
How they suffered about it
If their lives were exotic and strange
They would likely have gladly exchanged them
For something a little more plain
Maybe something a little more sane

We each pay a fabulous price
For our visions of paradise
But a spirit with a vision is a dream
With a mission

The First consumer PC was the Altair back in 1975, Then the Apple ][ in 1977 (there was an Apple 1 but only about 200 were made). Apple came out the the PC with the first Monitor display and keyboard. The Altair input was a set of toggle switches and LEDs for output. It was also the First consumer PC with graphics.

Before the Commodore 64, was the Commodore Pet. and the RadioShack/Tandy TRS-80. While these both had monitors and keyboards,  neigther support graphics.

Woz was the Techie, and Steve Jobs was the Salesman that pitched the Apple. Woz was purely a Apple 2 Engineer. The Lisa\Mac was a project started by Steve Job and hired a group of engineers to work on it. Woz was occupied with the Apple 2 and wasn't really involved with the Lisa/Mac.

The IBM PC didn't come about until 1981, and Gateway much later than that. Gateways were IBM PC clones.

The mindless fawning over this consummate asshole (ask some of the people he worked with) is absolutely SICKENING!

So, he made your little digital toys have smooth edges and "cool" design.  So what?  He was also instrumental in suppressing innovation over the whole computer industry for decades.  He didn't invent ANYTHING.  And his products are made by suicidal slave laborers in China.  You fucking fools.

Carnegie.  Jobs, unlike Gates, never expressed even a token interest in philanthropy.  So just forget that pious notion.

He was a selfish egomaniac from the moment he drew breath.  Denied paternity of his daughter.  Go look it up.

I'd guess that this is photoshopped.  I took the image into photoshop and adjusted the brightness levels.  I found image artifacts around the legs, as if they were purposely made to appear thinner. The image resolution is lousy as a whole.

This was probably originally an image of an elderly man and his wife...

Yes, definitely.  Also, the shadows are wrong you can tell from the posted image.  Two light sources, one of the sun almost directly overhead, another coming from the left about 1 o'clock which screws up the shadows.  Other "guys" hand around him is completely false.

ZH = EVIL

PICTURE = PHOTOSHOP LIE

Would love to see a higher resolution of version this picture, some areas really do look edited. If you zoom in close on the face, there is a defined vertical band on right forehead and inconsistencies along right hairline. The neckline along shirt also looks like it was blurred together. It may just be the low res picture, but very possibly some bad photoshop work.

No Hair loss, so there's no Chemo involved.

Regardless of what his ailment is, this isn't exactly a storybook ending to his life.

To be tasked with "getting affairs in order" at his age is simply disheartening to see. However, this is a man who accomplished more than perhaps many world leaders - his ideas and influence (Along with Woz, lets give that man the credit he deserves too) has significant impact on countries and societies. I think he will be remember for generations to come.

I guess If I could affect that level of change in the world, I guess I'd trade a few years off my life in sacrifice.

My favorite part of a question is

Playboy: Aside from some if the recurrent criticisms ... that the mouse is inefficient.....

Fri, 08/26/2011 - 17:10 | 1605709 FrankIvy
FrankIvy's picture

The mouse is inefficient.  It's a crutch.  But for most people it's a much better option than learing keyboard commands.

When I was a power user (back in the day), I wouldn't touch the mouse unless I had to.  Once you get used to using keyboard commands to navigate and execute commands in a program, it's quicker than mousing.

Of course, computing has changed toward mousing, and many programs are difficult to keyboard through now because they are not designed with keyboarding in mind.

Example, I believe I am forced to mouse "Save" to post this or tab 6 times.  Both much less efficient than an Alt/S or Alt/Ctrl/S type command.

What is truly sad about the state of health of Mr. Jobs is that cancer has been cured since 1929 and even before.  But because the United States is all about Death, Disease and Destruction, because there is more money to be made in these 3 D's, a brilliant man is dying.
