Today's Events: Only NFP And Expectations For Another 4 Sigma Beat

The only thing that matters is the November Employment Report and a few comments from Fed officials.

8:30: Employment Report (November): Upward revision to our forecast. Yesterday Goldman revised up its forecast for nonfarm payroll employment growth in light of better-than-expected labor market news over the last week. As a result its forecasts for the November employment report are now in line with the consensus and expects nonfarm payrolls to rise by 125,000 (with private-sector payrolls up 150,000), and the unemployment rate to remain unchanged at 9.0%. The improvement in payroll growth from October reflects (1) lower jobless claims, (2) the sharp improvement in the ADP measure of employment, (3) generally better growth data, and (4) perhaps some bounce from seasonal issues related to the construction sector. However, not all the employment news has been positive. Indicators of hiring activity—for example, online job advertising—are mixed, and business surveys have generally suggested tepid employment growth as well. We expect this report to be better than the last, but not a blockbuster.

Payrolls: GS: +125k; Consensus: +125k; Last +80k.
Unemployment: GS 9.0%; Consensus: 9.0%; Last 9.0%.
Earnings: GS +0.2%; Consensus: +0.2%; Last: +0.2%.

13:30: Boston Fed President Eric Rosengren on the economy.

Looks like good numbers are baked into the "cake" for NFP. If they don't beat the whisper numbers of 125,000 or higher, Dow is gonna tank back down. It feels like the whole world is long ES now.

Lots of debris cleanup jobs in the North East after the historic early snow storm. Not kidding, there was a small army of cleanup workers. Working 7 days a week for several weeks. They'll be gone in the next jobs report.
