It's all normal. It's a sign of recovery... people are buying so much stocks, that it makes them go too high, so they have to close the stock market so people don't get rich too fast.

Amen, the green shoots were Hank Paulson's Puking Entrails.

Government must protect people from getting rich too fast.

It would destroy their morale and mental health.

So, now go back to spending. Protect yourself.

Oops ... #1573447 should be here.

So it is a rigged and crooked free market place then, lolmao500, which is used to create the illusion of wealth in stocks and shares traded on bourses? A global ponzi which conspires to make something out of nothing for those who are just routing numbers around the system and pretending it is adding worth and creating money.

Wow, that is a system which is deceptively easy to collapse as it is catastrophically vulnerable to all manner of zeroday trades and phantom  deals.

Are all markets rigged to trip and halt trading whenever things are not going as planned? And whose plans would they be?

Just be careful with shorts. All you need is the head inmate start to babble. And poof, up we go.

No shorts. Just gold, silver, miners, a little oil and some confetti. Treasuries just amazing. 0

I rather agree. The same sort of thing has a high probability of occurring here in the U.S. Indeed, it should happen, and the sooner the better, this assuming of course a Glass-Steagall reform of the banking system is being reimposed over the duration the stock market remains closed. Were stability in prospect for sound, long-term investment suddenly to become a consensus desire, then a scenario toward achieving this might require the stock market's closure lasting for a week or two while balance sheets everywhere are restructured.

"Deceptively" is the key word.  You are betting against some oligarchs with very deep, almost infinitely deep, pockets.  They get to mint the chips that we are reguired  to use to play their game.  It's not a level playing field, to restate the obvious.  Their risk is that one of their fellow oligarchs decides to renege and gather in all the chips for himself.  We are only cannon fodder, sheep to be shorn.
