Update: $1,623 And Rising..... The "Traditional" "Barbaric Relic" Hits An All Time High Of Over $1615

Tyler Durden's picture

Here, let us explain to you how this works: you take some "tradition", you mix some central planning, you throw the imminent threat of default by the world's reserve currency and you end up with gold surging to $1615, well on its way to $10,000 and more. Any questions?

Update: $1,623

There is a middle class, but we should definitely be added to the endangered species list. You are correct it is two groups of people answering to the same people who will continually run the world specifically for their benefit.

I agree that Gold is going through the roof. It is a hedge against inflation and protection against the failure of fiat money.

The thing i dont believe people understand is that its worthless as a provider of sustenance. When the SHTF and it will. Everything will shut down. Food will disappear of store shelves instantly, power will go through the roof etc.

Same as in Agrentina, theives will pick on the weak and well supplied and the police will protect the main infrastructure and thats it. You on your own.

Gold will not be traded for food, history tells us that the barter system will prevail and you cant eat, drink Gold.

I would not trade an item I need to survive for something I cant use.

I don't trust the Wall Street any longer. I don't give a crap if the metals are in a bubble. They will maintain some value unlike crappy paper and computer money.

Who could trust Wall Street with their money any longer? The housing bubble, internet bubble, 2008 crash, etc. To hell with you Wall Street.

My local county rag suprised me today. The main editorial was - gasp - by Ron Paul, believe it or not.

"Default Now, or Suffer a More Expensive Crisis Later".

This has to be an indicator of the "end times" like nothing else. I guess it might be worth while to contact my one "sort of" conservative Rep. Brett Guthrie and my Decepti-Con Senator McConnell and demand huge spending cuts now or no debt ceiling increase. Also I had better contact my other Senator, Dr. Rand Paul, and tell him I support everything he is doing but he must become tougher on the balanced budget and no more spending.

Meanwhile, Gold and Silver continue to climb. Ammo prices seem to be slightly down.

"Everyone should have some gold, though pray to God you never need it."

Confiscation? For starters, they already did. What happened to that gold? No, for a bunch of reasons, they can't try it again. If you do hear of any talk about a "return to the gold standard" rest assured it won't be for your benefit, it will be for large central banks. Trust in government generally, is far less than in 1933, no surprise there, and one might conclude that any re-re-criminalization wouldn't be met with any enthusiasm. And as some like to say "we live in a global economy", such a move would perhaps drive the price much higher? At some level it would be an outright admission of utter failure on the part of government and as you may have noticed that isn't part of their lexicon.

You can bet those yelling loudest will be the clowns who derided you for buying at $275, $340, $400, &c, ad infinitum, ad nauseam. Just never say "I told you so". Apparently.

It is not "all clear" as of this hour. We need to see what happens at 8 a.m. GMT (U.K. time) when the JPM footsoldiers arrive for work. At around 3:00 a.m. EST tomorrow morning, if it follows the script, they will crash the August Gold futures to around $1593 on order to fry that massive open interest in the August $1600 calls which expire on Tuesday. The Crimex has already sent the orders; the goldbgs here in North America will be asleep; and only the Chinese who are opening their own gold and silver Shanghai Futures Exchange this week can save the day.

Will they?

Stay tuned...this will be a Battle for the Record Books.

Eventually they will.  I understand that. There's not enough guts in DC to force a force majure and collapse the US dollar.

They'll inflate it to worthlessness.  That's the long term plan.

They'll keep raising the debt ceiling.  One way or another.

MOROCCO
O hell, what have we here? A carrion death, within whose empty eye There is a written scroll. I’ll read the writing. (reads)

“All that glisters is not gold— Often have you heard that told. Many a man his life hath sold But my outside to behold. Gilded tombs do worms enfold. Had you been as wise as bold, Young in limbs, in judgment old, Your answer had not been inscrolled. Fare you well. Your suit is cold— Cold, indeed, and labor lost.” Then, farewell, heat, and welcome, frost! Portia, adieu. I have too grieved a heart To take a tedious leave. Thus losers part.

Let's see how long it takes Chairsatan to do the other traditional thing of Gold and confiscate it.

I believe it will be proven that he was caught with his pants down when it is discovered that a 'note' is not money and Gold is.

Federal Reserve Notes are the most blatant fraud going.  There is no maturity date for the 'Note' and therefore it is not a legal bonifide obligation to pay, a true out right fraud.  They have always borrowed with never a commitment to make good on their debt.

Always paying off a loan with another loan, ad infinitum

The phrase "barbarous relic" (not "barbaric" originally) is attributed
to Keynes, who first used it in his 1923 "Tract on Monetary Reform".
He was not referring to gold but to the gold standard.  For a brief
history of the phrase, see the James Turk's essay at
http:www.goldmoney.com/documents/barbarous-relic.pdf

Recent commentators view the Euro as a modern-day barbarous relic,
because of the inflexibility it imposes on member states (eg, Greece)
who don't have the option to devalue when facing trade
imbalances http://pragcap.com/the-euro-gold-standard

IMF views gold as "monetary asset" check their website. BB can argue with them.

Gold is going to x/0.  Predicting a dollar price is silly when the dollar has no value. Think of it in barrel of oil price, bacon price possibly even Euro price but dollar price...don't think that will matter much. In 6 decades I've watched my country go from being great to greatly in debt. Don't care who's fault it is it is just a shame.

I feel like I have entered the twilight zone.  Surely Rod Sterling is giving the narative somewhere as this plays out like a train wreck in slow motion. The Keynesian's, entrenched in "group think", have so purvasively corrupted our system that there is little hope to stop the inevitable catastrophe that awaits. It's full steam ahead as the track shudders and shifts. Cheif engineer Bernanke, like so many other tragic souls from history, feels compelled to take us all down with him.  There are no stops for this train, no safe exits for the sane, it's a one way terror ride to hell. I only hope civilization can survive.
