Turkey Mobilizing: Media Manipulation, Provocation Or Reality?
In the aftermath of the recent escalation in tensions between Turkey and Syria, whereby Syria was accused of hostile behavior for firing and taking down a Turkish fighter jet that supposedly spent at least 5 minutes in its airspace, today was a quiet day. At least until recently we saw the following footage in a clip uploaded to YouTube. Supposedly, Turkey has sent troop reinforcement to the Syrian border, after Erdogan's warning that soldiers approaching the border will be treated as targets, the clip explains, citing Turkish daily Zaman reported citing the Cihan news agency. This is unverified, nor is the statement that 15 military vehicles, including tanks and cannons, were dispatched to the border from Diyarbakir.
We are skeptical of the validity of the above especially since earlier today Russia said that Tuesday's Syrian shooting down of a Turkish warplane should not be seen as a provocation and warned world powers against using the incident to push for stronger action against Damascus. It was Moscow's first official reaction which made it quite clear that Russia will not just stand idly by awaiting for NATO to unilaterally take a decision to punish the middle eastern nation for daring to defend itself. But then again, this may be merely misreading Russia's resolve, in collaboration with China, to defend its own national strategic interests.
Finally, why we are concerned this may well be a provocation, but in the other direction, is that the only "news" of this development so far has come from the Times of Israel: a media outlet which the traders amongst you may say is "axes" vis-a-vis a particular outcome.
Large numbers of Turkish troops — including at least 15 long-range artillery pieces and tanks – moved to the Syrian frontier from the eastern city of Diyarbakir. A video published by the Turkish Cihan News Agency showed Turkish tanks being transported by carrier trucks toward the frontier.
The mobilization followed statements by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan that the Turkish military will respond to any future violation of its border by Syrian military elements.
“As awe-inspiring as Turkey’s friendship is, Turkey’s wrath is equally awe-inspiring,” Erdogan told the Turkish parliament on Tuesday.
“The rules of engagement of the Turkish Armed Forces have changed,” Erdogan said. “Any military element that approaches the Turkish border from Syria posing a security risk and danger will be regarded as a threat and treated as a military target.”
Erdogan closed his remarks with an especially harsh condemnation of Syrian President Bashar Assad: “Turkey and the Turkish people will continue to provide all support until the people of Syria have been saved from this tyrannical, murderous, bloody dictator and his gang.”
We will keep track of real developments surrounding this latest geopolitical risk flare up, and keep readers updated.

Refugees are the result of loosing wars. If the tyrants that they are fleeing from were ameliorated thay wouldn't need to leave.
About time somebody killed some Turks. They been killing everyone else for centuries.
How does reporting what was said equate to backing the speaker?
Hey mark - did you hear about the guys who went into the hospital nursery and threw all the babies out? I saw it on TV. This nurse saw it all. Ok, she wasn't a nurse, she was the Kuwaiti ambassador's daughter.

Buy the cannons...
If Russia wants to intervene my money is on the Turkish Army beating the hell out of them.
There wouldn't be any Turkey left.
It'd be there, well smoked, and completely unedible however. Would you like your Turkey smoked, irradiated, or perhaps both?
sangell:
What money, petrodollars or shekels?
Is there a "Turnkey Opportunity!" in there somewhere?
Right, like Georgia, and Finland before that.
Being twice as good is little help when the other guy is ten times as big.
Turkish Army is probably larger than the active duty Russian army, and given the demographics of the two countries Turkey may have as many military age men as Russia especially if you eliminate Muslims. In any event Russia's ability to move a large army to do battle with Turkey is doubtful and once it got there the Turks would chew it up. I assume no nukes.
You know little of the Russian Combat Mindset.
I war gamed it once on computer some years ago trying to stop the red tide from taking Hanover. Cost me 2000 tanks, all I had in europe while reforger was being sunk left and right at sea.
And still the USSR trains rolled west carrying 30,000 more tanks...
Thank god that was a game, one to remember when I began to coldly consider the nuclear arms.
My opponet taunted me by saying "Now will you at least hand us Europe while it's still good?"
There is one thing Turkey has that the Soviets want bad.
A patch of waterway.
That will be a glowing rubble to ensure the safe passage of Soviet warships and material for follow on ops.
The USSR is no more ( in case you haven't got the news) and if Russia has 2000 combat ready tanks I'd be surprised and they don't have any East Germany to bring them to bear on Turkey even if they did. If they tried to put a single division in Syria the Turks would overrun the place.
And Constantinople - goal of the Czars for centuries. Only fair since the Turks stole it from the Christians.
If that is true then Putin will be Lionized for taking back Constantinople.
Would that be quite something.
Probably worth going to war for... If we can find the right reasons.
Are those tanks fully loaded?
..don't know if those are 'fully loaded' but these are 'jumping and dancing'.
http://en.ria.ru/video/20120626/174249952.html
Don't think so. You are not supposed to transport vehicles upammo'ed
However ammo and what have you can be delivered to the tanker just as fast. Within the hour probably.
WW3 on the horizon :(
Money-junkies gonna take us all to war X(
This could get really silly if Syria resorts to using its large stockpile of chemical weapons and could, I believe, go to extra time and penalties...
Is that you Colon? Yeah I heard Syria has yellow cake, super cannons and they throw babies out of incubators.
(and they make little girls cry)
Thanks Prole. incubators - that's the word I was looking for.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmfVs3WaE9Y
This just in - Syrian forces, much like gadafi's in Libya are smoking viagra.
Wow did you watch the video Bringin it? She was good.I hadn't seen that since I was brainwashed with it the first time around. (I only watched a minute of it, cut it off before the "babies tossed on teh cold floor to die" punchline, but I remember it was a good one!!)
I would say she is a far better actress than the maroritity of the crap daughters of Hollywierd insiders we have in movies today. (Gwinny Peltro, Tori spelling WtF?) And the fake ass Senator who introduces her, very very solemn tone to his voice, lending her the ~ sort of a utmost position of sincerity, which she grabbed and TOTALLY FVVKING LIED HER ASS OFF!!! LOL.
I wonder how many Americans have died in Iraq since then and I wonder how they feel about being ground up as cannon fodder for total lies, told by Colon, Condy and a clever 15 year old attaches' daughter? HAHA Suckers!!
The US told Turkey to go into Syria. Our Nobel War Prize winner cannot just launch a preemptive strike to spread freedom and democracy to Syria. He needs an excuse and he needs a proxy to do the dirty work. Of course, we will make large transfer payments to Turkey to help them invade Syria of course.
You've always been right. +1
In case of escelation, Russia, Iran, Iraq & China will back the Syrian regime ...
Israel, NATO, GCC will back Turkey ...
"Let the games begin"
Have you been to Ankara lately. If ayone is going to be lending money it will be Turkey to us. Turkey has grown even with Iraq, their biggst trading partner bombed into the stone ages over the last decade.
Have we found the WMDs yet?
No, but reliable source in psy-ops said "I think I saw something.... somewhere...looking dangerous, like a camel is desert".
That's all the proof you need to start it.
you didn't get the memo? Sadam sent them to Syria before the last gulf war... but don't worry, we'll get them this time.... /sarc off.
Sounds believable. I mean, mistake was made once, what are odds of making the same mistake twice?
So, off to glory (dying in shithole nobody cares about, for people who never cared about you).
Mobilizing would consist of more than a couple of tanks and a few APCs. Turkey may be sending armour and troops to the border but tis hardly mobilizing for war.
I dont think Erdogan is really that stupid as to kick off a war with Syria (although he is a politician so it is of course possible), i think if this is real its just posturing. Turkey will melt down if it goes to war with Syria. PKK will take the oppertunity to rise up.
this will result in brzezinski balkanisation bitchezz
something to watch indeed
I used to travel thru' Eastern Turkey a lot.
Basically the whole Eastern province is a giant military base.
No need to mobilise anything, the troops and equipment are
already there.
Mobilization would be as simple as closing down the Hash bars.
Umm Turkey would kick Syrian ass (granted country vs country)

#6 vs #36....
Probably but going by this, Israel should have been trounced in the six day war.
Sir, I don't know if you were around during that war as I was... it was a damn near thing...
Very near thing... If memory serves, the Arabs decided to go after Dimona (Spelling?) for the brass ring and I think it was rather vicious form of a knife fight inside a phone booth (If you dont know what those are google it)
Touch and go for a half day it was.
While I was typing this....
Something interesting and meaty came up

Apparently Putin's Fly Boys don't mind making combat runs at our shit. And what beautiful shit.
All the world ogling Turkey and we get hit upside the head at Alaska and west coast.
Why the fuck are we still flying rusted Eagles up there? We need them nice Raptors where are they.
We would have to be going back to the cold war days all over again. Or is that Cold Peace now.
Practice! No time for sleepy time.

A must read.
Another twist to the Arab Gas Pipeline (AGP) extension theory.
I think Russia does not want the AGP project to be extended from Homs to Turkey (and consequently to Europe). The conflict of interest is quite apparent.
This is quite a compelling reason for NATO to want to install a friendlier regime, read "Muslim Brotherhood" [1]
"Revealed: CIA secretly operates on Syrian border, supplies arms to rebels"
"Arms and ammunition are being brought into Syria mainly over the Turkish border with the help of Syria’s Muslim Brotherhood network and other groups, the report says. "

Putin is also in Israel.
It's still very difficult to anticipate whether there is going to be "kintetic military action" or not.

Putin's Law and Order in the Middle Easthttp://english.pravda.ru/russia/politics/26-06-2012/121487-putin_middle_...
26.06.2012By Xavier Lerma
There's a new sheriff in town and he's bringing law and order to the Wild Middle East. He's making everyone realize that each has more to gain by cooperation rather than agitation. "You can't make money if your customer is dead", he'll say. "The more customers you have the more money you can make". He offers a new peace plan in the form of economic stability. Money talks, suckers walk.
President Vladimir Putin's visit to Israel is just one of the many visits on his world tour. He hopes to prevent WW3 and bring stability to the world especially in the Middle East. Putin reminds me of a teacher who spanked all the bad kids, made everybody sit down and taught everyone how to share each other's toys. One viewer on YouTube wrote:
"Netanyahu looks? like he just got taken to the wood shed."
Putin Israel Peace Talks 2012 ????? ????????? ??????? ? ?????????. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgfY0rqBpnM&feature=player_embedded#!'Look who's calling the kettle black,... but, that was then, this time is different comrade!' http://www.historyplace.com/worldhistory/genocide/armenians.htm
Ps. I have met many Armenian acquaintances through various friends in Boston, and never does a geo-political conversation go by without the aforementioned miscarriage of justice to this very day regarding their forsaken`d heritage!
I rather miss the old fuck who promised "We will Bury You"
causing us to build safe places stuffed with cots and Xanax.
It's rather unfortunate that the Kardashian clan was able to survive that.
Very subtle sir, very subtle! Let's laugh about the genocide of Christians!! HAHA Killing Christians is for jokey joke man!!
PS just to add- never seen one of you megaphone guys joke about your pretend genocide, hmm guess that isn't very funny, like the HOO! HOO! killing of Christianslol!!
Hey hill billy. I'm from Seattle and over 1/4 native american. I have fishing rights. My mom was born on the rez.
I don't give a fuck about you or Christians or Jews or A- rabs. Maybe you don't get gallows humor. Maybe half your ancestors weren't wiped out by Christians. Maybe you can right fuck off.
Let me tell you a joke. You know the difference between Jack Daniels and Daniel Boone? Jack Daniels is still killing Indians.
See, I can laugh about that shit. Because I don't care, and you are a retard. What do you call an white guy surrounded by 50 Indians? Bartender. I can do this all night fucker.
I'm sure you can; you get paid for it.
And that is a very creative avatar BTW, 1/4 native American with fishing rights. Right.
I guess you have to be just 'edgy' enough to occupy the moral superiority postition eh? As always.
If I were a senator dont worry I would stand on command and give you dozens of standing ovations...
Why ? There's an unlimited amount of slutty, stupid whores to take their place. Most of the Kardashians are kind of plain looking-average at best -Kim is above average but has a certain sex appeal because of her porn video. Better that the Hollywood Hebes trash and corrupt avergae looking girls than wholesome, good looking American women like Marilyn.
Turkey would not be mobilizing it's military without the express consent of the kenyan pretender. This is just another CFR venture into the middle east. That lesbo running the State Dept has her finger prints all over this one. They have been setting this up for months. Putin should have allready sent Assad the most modern SAM systems in his arsenal. Radar systems to boot. Nobel Peace Prize winner my ass. This phony has allready involved us in more wars than Bush. Where is Dennis Kucinich? I am so sick of this save Israel shit. With the Muslim Brotherhood win in Egypt, they must be shitting in their pants right about now. I guess that is why they are doing this action now, instead of waiting. Coincidence? I think not! Interesting to see what Iran does, since they have a mutual defence pact with Assad. They are trying to goat Iran into acting militarialy, which will give them the cover to begin hostilities. Might be a good time to go long USO pretty soon......

In case some have missed it, the UK has been gripped in an epic "software glitch", so far still unexplained and unfixed, which has left millions without access to their RBS accounts.
When all else fails to explain why there is no access to one's money, one can always blame it on hackers... and of course terrorists.
There's actually fairly well done document on how and what is going on at http://www.mcafee.com/us/resources/reports/rp-operation-high-roller.pdf?...
It's certianly believable. I don't think that the UK 'software glitch' and Operation High Roller are related.
come on "high roller" more like operation "solve insolvency" whilst faking cyber crime.. IMHO
I have seen more reports of money missing from accounts than excesses.
Of course, the evidence is anecdotal. But the "glitch" (which used to mean a momentary phenomenon, like "flash crash") is looking sort of MFG-ish from here on the intertubes.
Even with money, "POSSESSION is nine-tenths of the law." Too many, too blind . . .
Possession, you say? Then there isn't a solvent bank on the planet.
Especially RBS -- how can they prove they own the phantasms in their money database after screwing it, so royally, up?
I was wondering when the big gunfights would begin. This method "sealed" the end of the last failed bankocracy (1929-1939).
This oligarch bullshit always ends with some financially poor soldiers dying for no f^&*king good reason, and innocent civilians too. Meanwhile, the oligarchs lay low in their dachas for a good few years, thankful that they didn't get lynched.
I have calling for Turkey to be pushed into attacking a country, but I thought it would be Cyprus or Greece, but who knows, those two could
still be dragged in. There's oil in them thar seas.
The Turks are not stupid enough to conquer Greece or Cyprus now. Merkel would then want them to take over all their liabilities to the ECB and the German Banks. Sort of like BofA and Merrill Lynch merging into Lynch America.
I openly admit to knowing shit about crap, especially when it comes down to armed combat and the likes, but if I've learned one thing, it's that price of gold jumps whenever new my-dick-is-bigger-than-yours conflicts are enacted.
*checks price of gold, decides no real conflict forth-comming*
You know little.
At least you check prices. Gold and Silver can move 50 and 10 respectively in a few moments.

The shot down jet story screams "false flag," and the last I knew the Turkish military leaders were just "replaced:"

Wow, their tanks rival their aircraft in representing a modern fighting contingent. That's an M60, I believe. That's the tank the US phased out in the late 70s and replaced with the Abrams. Their upgraded tanks are supplied by....wait for it....the Israelis (the Sabra)! Put those on parade if you're trying to intimidate.
All this bitching and you all know very well what's going to happen. Let's help Tyler predict the next move......
I'll take an M60A3 any day over an Abrams. It's engine and electronic suite is FAR more reliable. I also remember back in the early 1980s, M60A3 crews swept the coveted "Top Tank Crew" awards three years straight in direct competiton against the Abrams. The M60A3 is not some worn out mare, ready for the pasture. It is more than capable of taking on any amoured vechicle, anywhere, anytime.
I would want to read about the exploits of these 60 cans. There has to have been some amount of growing a pair going against the Abrams in those days.
It was a long time ago, I recall clearly the XM1 protoype at Aberdeen museum and looking it over. It was an interesting exercise wondering if the M60's would have been any good.
Today's Abrams are quite dangerous. Between the Leopard, Merkevas and Chieftains (This I respect... ) it's hard to show how the M60 can be any damn good.
Yes, I would like a stack of PDF's from those days if available... I have much to learn.
If I had a group of M60's and told to keep the M1's out I probably will have one or two as bait and seek to get at the sides or rear of the M1's... I hope that the crews of the new tanks will not look much to the sides as they race in to pluck the cherry.
Well, this virgin is packing a 105 rifle baby.
A few things come to mind with showing older stuff:
1) Hide true force
2) Give overconfidence to enemy
3) Propaganda to masses to show Turkey is in poor shape
4) Cannon fodder
MI-6 is trying to takeout Assad's compound as we speak.
Let me check my NATO handbook...yep, the appropriate military response for shooting down an F-4 is a full scale ground invasion.
Definitely not reality.
If Turkey steps in....its likely to get it's own "Muslim Brotherhood Arab Spring" and break out into full blown 3 or 4 sided civil war, they have a huge Kurd population totally disenfranchised, and a well armed and financed (courtesy USA) ethnic enclave of all Kurds right next door.
I concur....seems to be a blunting move to direct their forces/alliances in one direction so that we, having already played out every feasible scenario we believe comprehensible in our little war rooms, can lay our card....Forward: into the p-a-s-t . . . . . . . .
Turkey couldn't invade Clinton's twat with those 15 tanks and artillery.
And at the look of it, it's outdated stuff... or do they plan to use them to cross into Syria to let Syria destroy a few of them to use it as casus belli as they did with the outdated F-4??
Note to self from Libyan campagin:
Journalist = intelligence agents for XYZ country
Let the propaganda and confusion begin
So the pilots haven't been found yet. Has anybody demanded a full inventory check of the German air force hardware? As far as I know Germany has (had?) some remote control equipment for F-4 to use them as a kind of expensive drones. Is all of it still there?
WWW III Bitches>>>> (Looking for my WW I Kaiser helmet)

Huh.
OOpss... Note to self: put down shot glass before resuming typing... or yet better maybe I should call AAA
As long as they get upgraded, an F-4 is a VERY capable aircraft. Great for fighting proxy wars!
I would want something a little less obese and defiantly not trailing jet fuel smoke.

Turks are probably just sabre rattling to let the Syrian generals know they don't want a civil war , a bunch of refugees pouring in or chaos on their borders so if Assad can't govern the place there is an opening for a new dictator type. The Turkei thing is just NATO window dressing for a blockade.
The real action in Syria is (was) via the Kurds through Northern Iraq thanks to Israel.
The main issue is to isolate Damascus and otherwise create an sea blockade for Tartus and Latakia (sorry to all the Russia sailors R&R) and an air blockade for Homs and Aleppo.
The whole Arab Spring juggernaut is really something else - all these polities falling like dominoes like the controlled demo of WTC building 7 - only to trade the old boss for the new.
One of these days some analyst with zero war experience is going to recommend a bath salt induced robo-pocalypse instead of "nation building with democratic characteristics."
This whole operation is analogous to invading Arkansas, but without the lakes and forests.
Why is this happening again?

Turkey a NATO stooge and desperately trying to impress the EU and United Nations.
Cue Russia getting frisky.
This is bad. Could be first major flash-point in the Middle East blowup.
How NATO Secretary Anders Fogh Rasmussen generates the confidence to continue NATO´s audacious disinformation campaign would be a mystery if it was not clear that a free and independent media in Western Europe and the USA that could challenge the house of lies that is built to justify a war is about as dead as human rights and civil liberties since NATO in 2001 embarked on a war of terror on the world and on the people which it claims to protect.
Send that plea to the Arab League.
Most Americans do not have passports, and your whining shows why, you silly boy.
Turkey, Syria: a family spat among medieval Muslims, and only corporatists who seek to ensnare the USA and make it pay for the ME use fools like your sort, boy.
Under the Constitution, no foreign wars are legal. NO foreign wars. No exceptions.
End the Fed, that hideous thing brought to the U.S. in 1913, with all its foreign ways and intrigue.
Egypt will turn to Iran. Turkey in NATO will turn to its Muslim brothers in time. The Middle East - the Musliim, the Arab, the Jew - seek to make others pay for their medieval ways.
This is not the way of the USA, the separation of Church and State under the Constitution. It is the freak Fed founded illegally in 1913 and its corporatist sorts who make Washington a pet of corrupt Wall St biggest failed, bankrupt, insolvent liar loan, unregulated otc derivative banksters, eg JPM and GS.
Looking back at the Cuban Missile Crisis, one of the reasons that it did not spiral out of control [other than the fact that JFK was supremely rational and intelligent] was the fact that JFK was boning a young White House staffer.
Who would want to start a nuclear war under those circumstances? I propose that all leaders involved in this lunacy should follow in JFK's footsteps and do likewise...
Why stop there? All the ME rulers are fucking any woman and child they can get hold of...
You are an idiot tool of the corporatist freaks.
Turkey will turn to Iran. Eqypt will turn to Iran.
Mysogynist anti-democratic Islam will turn to its own medival ways: its theocracy.
The corporatists of the West want theocracy in the ME. The village idiots like to deal with each other.
And they are too fucking stupid to understand that there will be nothing for them but each other if they get their hateful ways.
How much time has to pass such that the cold warriors die out and move on.
Russia and the US are natural Christian allies whose mutual interest align on virtually every front. Let a Turkish war be the final nail in NATOs coffin and watch the US and Russia partner to dominate the hun and mongol hoards for another few hundred years.
Why is history such a diffcult fucking read.

here, Turkey seems to be saying: if your military wants to bivouac in Turkey, why can't we fly over you guys? we can shoot you mofos too, ya know
this is the perfect measured respose for peace that i have been hoping and praying for...
The pilot was to blame for crossing into Syria.
Turkish pilots are imprecise tools. You could make a 60-y-old
Berber camel jockey into a better pilot.
So, the army guy new that if he told the pilot
'gel boor da' and told him to fly over the refugee camps,
just over the border in Turkey, that the pilot would screw
up and end up shot down.
BTW, the Turk airforce has lots of practice of 'innocent' fly-overs on foreign territory. They do it daily over Greece, sometimes all the way to Athens. I've seen dog-fights over the frontier islands.
Sometimes those bozos just scrape over the tree-tops.
I would love to see a proper dog fight someday.
I have been hunted in Colorado by Apaches in the morning fog, I have been buzzed in Nevada. O dark damn it early all and BOOOOM WTFWT?!
And so on.
My all time favorite is watching the Bones at play in the Dyess as they take off and execute very agile low level no noise restriction flight with afterburners blue.
