Watch The European Council Summit - Live Webcast

Tyler Durden's picture

The farcial tragicomedy that is today's European summit, which not even the combined minds of Beckett, Camus and Kierkegaard could come up with on their own, is about to begin. Watch it live here in all its frontal lobe liquefying glory. Popcorn not optional.

Fortunately for TPTB, the police presence required will be minimal, as of the past couple of months or so, those most moved to complain about this stuff across the world have voluntarily attended what could best be described as 'concentration' camps in some 900 cities worldwide, going so far as even bringing their own accomodation with them and even feeding themselves while the authorities are given adequate time to photograph each and every one of them and work out possible 'dissident' risks to greater society - obviously during these extended observations, sorry, 'protests', the police have them all nicely located in small areas conveniently located in city centers, close also to courts and prisons, meaning zero overtime working is required for the police, for example for travel etc to some remote location, and that surveillance can be continued during the hours of darkness by just a few people on the ground and a helicopter or two, obviously equipped with the requisite heat-sensing and other photographic equipment - which has the coincident benefit of being able to spin media stories suggesting the camps may not actually be slept in at night, despite the 'protests' of the camp 'attendees' themselves, that this simply is not true.

Our officials in the US would do well to watch and learn. Despite my frustrations about their recent indecisiveness, European officials have an extraordinary ability to develop strong frameworks for political and economic leadership. Unlike US politicians, European politicians take a measured approach to satisfying public opinion by only holding referendums on appropriate bills that do not affect essential EU policy, and by sidelining inappropriate referendum results that could impair European economic progress. This is a far-cry from the quite frankly disturbing ‘Tea-Party’ rallies and state-rebellions in the US which in my opinion should never have been tolerated from the start.

The public has been offered the freedom and liberty to spend and boost aggregate demand through many fiscal stimulus programs, but they have ungratefully rejected the opportunity on every occasion. If Americans really cared about freedom, they would be boosting retail sales with low-interest consumer loans - free human beings grab opportunities like HARP and cash-for-clunkers with both hands and don’t look back. On the contrary, Americans have shown themselves to be impotent and lethargic by refusing to boost aggregate demand.

Am I getting this right?

The Banks lend someone else money to someone else, in this case, the governments.

Then they sold insurance gaurantees on this deal. So essentially, providing insurance on this first deal.

And now the ECB is doing the same, which is getting the bank into trouble at this stage?

Am I getting this right?

No.

Banks loaned money to Greece at 5%.  Greece now wants to rollover that loan to a new loan.  The going rate for that new loan is 80%.  The banks are being asked to accept 5% for new loans, after the old loan defaults 60%.

And the banks are being asked to do this whilst not declaring a default of that 60% in order to collect on their insurance hedges they took out.

In return for doing this, the European Summit offers to shake their hands vigorously and provide them festive pastries.

...and just when all hope seemed lost Europe unveils it's newest weapon in the war on debt...

the PRINT-O-MATIC 5000! (TM0 from ACME corp.

an upgraded, supercharged, next gen, AI, mega high capacity, guaranteed never to brake down version of the already wildly successful and popular PRINT-O-MATIC 3000 used by the US Federal Reserve Bank.

the PRINT-O-MATIC 5000 is easy to use, easy to install, requires no maintenance and is guaranteed to run flawlessly for up to 1 quadrillion Eruos or the end of the world, whichever comes first. It's completely automated, AI functioning means you don't even need the team of monkeys to operate it and it will continue to run independently without need for human intervention, even in a zombie apocalypse.

so with this modern marvel of technological wizardry ready to take on the debt crises in Europe and the world over there is no further need to worry, sell stocks, buy PM's or question in any way the legitimacy, solvency or stability of the fiat paper system that rules the world.

let us praise this new technology and join together in supporting the forever paper revolution!

...there fixed everything, now was that so hard?
