Face time works on people as long as they feel the speaker is genuine. Once people get it in their heads that the speaker is lying to them then every subsequent appearance only makes them angrier. How do you think long-term unemployed people feel when Obama talks about the "recovery" and "private sector job growth" for the 1000th time?
He's got a 40% approval rating. That means two things. A lot of people are in denial, that is they feel obligated to support him at all costs, or they are in a deep coma.
If you combine minorities and die-hard democrats you'll get pretty close to 40%(don't expect this number to fall much lower)
