First, the inflated job numbers that are still nowhere near what is needed for a proper recovery, and now a hollow, crowd-pleasing program that does absolutely nothing to address the core problems.

Well, let's reverse engineer this.
Obama is all of a sudden very concerned about veteran employment prospects. = Many more military members are about to become veterans looking for jobs.
Many more military members... = A large downsizing of the military and/or reduced pay and benefits and/or large drawdown of troops from current theaters.
Reduction in veterans benefits has already been proposed by DoD panel. Existing retirees pensions would remain untouched. All those currently serving would fall under new guidelines, though. : http://www.navytimes.com/news/2011/07/military-dod-panel-calls-for-radic...

The military is actively cutting people as it is. There is no longer a guarantee of retirement. They are looking for ways to push people out the door.

Not that I have anything against veterans, a job loss strikes everyone deeply and I feel sorry for those families who have to face it.
But still, when we have young people who cannot find a job who is going to hire veterans?
Well unlike many young people, most veterans know how to show up on time and do what they're told.
Why doesn't he start with the 10,000 Iraqi/Afghani Vets on the streets, and living off of field mice,squirrels, and ducks?.

sad, my cousin still hasn't found a job since may of 2010. he did two tours in the army - infantry. state police forces have been facing massive budget cuts, and i guess hes's going on 65 weeks of unenjoyment benes.

having questionable or no skills and being associated with organized crime or the US Military [the same things, actually] is not generally good for career opportunities or advancement...
What is it, 10% of the military are combatants? What do you think the rest do? There's a lot of high-tech equipment to maintain and operate. Not all veterans are equal.

All the high-tech equipment has been dumbed down so practically anyone with two neurons can accomplish any task, sorry that is just the nature of the military - combatants and people in logistics, getting stuff from A to B comprise a large part of today's "high-tech" military...
