Last night after watching the GOP "debate" I followed up with my usual activity of waiting a few minutes for the MSM articles to launch their attack pieces on Ron Paul so that I could join a growing chorus of Dr. Paul supporters in the comments section of these hit pieces in order to provide the truth about his actual message. Anyway, after making the rounds of the typical political websites I started to notice a growing trend by the MSM. It seems that more and more of them do not even offer a comments section or if they do then it is incredibly hard to find the tab which you must first click to even see what has already been posted. There also seems to be a growing initiative to have you log into facebook in order to post, otherwise, you are not allowed to. Now at first glance this may not seem like a big deal but think a little deeper about the implications of such actions. If your website has noble aspirations where the message is more important than money than why would you not want to promote open discussions via an easily accessible open forum? Let's say you are completely driven by profits then a visible comments section is an easy way to get your visitors to not only come back to the site over and over again but to spend a lot of time on the website which is an advertiser's wet dream. The fact that many of these large websites are shying away from an easy way to increase revenue speaks volumes about their purpose and intent.
