I work part time in an ER in a SEC college town and cannot believe the number of students who come in to be treated (for various reasons) who are on two or THREE antidepressants/psych drugs/ mood stabilizers. It is an epidemic that does not bode well for the future.

The use of antidepressants/psych drugs/mood stabilizers in the US, and more and more all over the world aping US culture and economy, is a direct result of the last two or three decades of "work" by the pharma and insurance corporations - in cahoots with a medical system – bent on selling. To sell they medicalize (i.e. transform an every day event into a medical problem), and sell a medication to "solve it". Think, since when this barrage of tv advertising for medication for this and that? Psy medication is not used to stabilize the very very few true cases where it may be needed, but to - while selling – “cure” masking symptoms, that of course appear as new symptoms somewhere else. True psy therapy, "talk therapy", is considered not only expensive, requiring a long treatment, but in many cases subversive... Of course it’s also true that these days more and more people, especially young people, are becoming keenly aware of … things, thus becoming - in the best of cases - depressed.

My thinking as well. I'm encouraged by the 66% number. I would have guessed around 80%, but then the other options offered skewed the results. An outright question requiring an answer would have gotten us about 98% wrong answers. Multiple choice in this instance was not helpful to seeing a pattern of ignorance that prevails.

I have no idea who Snooki is. On a related note, my sister, who was in her late 30s/early 40s during the Clinton administration, could not name the Vice President. The Vice freakin' President.
