The 'WTF SkyNet' Chart Du Jour
UPDATE: In case you were wondering, IBM's magnicently efficient market behavior today provided 53.6 points for the Dow - which ended the day up only 34.6 points - phew!!
We are sure someone smarter than us can come up with a story and narrative to explain what is going on here. We just sit back and enjoy the beauty of a sentient SkyNet picking off every single stop trade possible.
IBM...
KO...
and MCD...
and the impact on the Dow...

Those are all the same company.
In fact, there is only ONE company being traded now, having M+A all the rest, the exchanges try to cover it over so they just issue a bunch of tickers that make you think it's different companies.
So a more interesting question is: which company is it? Who holds the One Ring?
Keep her steady until we figure out WTF we are going to do for the next QE regime. Recovery from a crash will be more expensive than treading water for anotther month.
B.S. Bernake
hah pisani trying to explain it and some producer just told him to stfu
Haha
Playing the wedge on everyone of those charts.............
Just wait tile AAPL comes out ... pick off on steriods 40 pt swings ... money to be made. These charts offer a glimpse into the future ... thank you

...our shark...</quint>
And the thing about a shark is he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes.
You go into your trading account, the trading account goes into the market, the shark's in the market, our shark? Farewell and adeiu to you fair day traders...
These are distribution algos -- they buy (mark up) and sell, but at the end of the day they sell more than buy.
The entire stock market is under manipulative distribution.
Also note, EBAY, IBM, and QCOM were gapped up (to force a short squeeze, EPS and revenue misses did not matter) on no volume and then the stocks were held up at a relatively narrow range on 3X average daily volume -- a classic distribution price action.

It's just viral marketing for The Dark Knight Rises.
Aaaahhh, so that's what "liquidity" looks like. //sarcasm off//
HFT'S running the hotel Califorinia.
"dips rips alog". Congratulations, boys and girls, we are all managed.
LOL
KO perfectly on the hour and half hour. Why was'nt I told about this ahead of time?
Snap On Tools, huge move today to 3-year highs.
Most expensive hand tools in the world.
Where is the recession?
Oh, I forgot.
The recession turned into a Depression in the metals and mining sector.
How sound is Craftsman's lifetime warranty ?
Strap-on Tools? I thought Goldman backed out of that.
Tools? That sounds familiar. Didn't the idiot Bernank talked about "tools"? Maybe HFT confused it with the real tools? Anytime the idiot moves his lips, blood suckers look for victims.
.. and then there's RobotTrader coming out of the left field
Dude, are you seriously putting money into this market? Serious question.
I'm out. I'm out. I'm out. And will not look back. It's Vegas but with less of an edge and much less of a thrill.
You can't beat them at their game.
That's funny coming from the Biggest Strap-On Tool.
Automobile and Farm Equipment mechanics tool of choice.
If you can't afford to buy a new one, fix the old one.
Bearish for U.S. Automakers and CAT/DEERE.
On an aggregated level, that's what all the algos combined looks like. Look how the waves get a bit smaller every cycle in the first two diagrams as everything is programmed to flip at a safe level. Shouldn't be so hard for a human trader to beat but I suspect that almost all large cap volume is algorithmic at this point. The volume is spread out almost perfectly over the day like still water.
robo dont you have a few collies to call over in your trailer park to lick the peanut butter off your pecker?? it sure beats you sitting in your dark basement with your pants down to your ankles with pictures of silvia vadwa posted all over the walls dont it?
+1...made me laugh!
Even the WSJ noticed the pattern:

I think that volumes and liquidity is so low that the machines are running the show.
Looks like a symbol used by drifters in the 1930's written/carved in front of people's houses to inform other drifters what to expect from the homes' occupents - the jagged teeth symbol meant "Beware of the Dog" (skyneticus canine).
if 'things' are so foreseeable, predict 6 for the coming year
I will bite. I don't understand this. I don't know what I am supposed to be able to interpret from these charts. Someone here willing to help educate me or link me to a resource I can use to educate myself?
The pattern suggest breakdown, but it doesn’t happened, which is weird especially when occurs so often
When the paper was unfolded, it contained a symmetrical ink design which often "looked like something" the same way clouds often "look like something," requiring only a bit of imagination.
Because the Rorschach has been used for so long, a great deal of data has been gathered to correlate with results of the test with various mental disorders, so the test can provide useful predictive information.

(I can't believe how much Rorschach looks like Tyler)
Yahoo's chart looks rather funky today as well. many many 1-5 cent oscillations.
when do we go back to free markets?

I've one stock on my watchlist for years that I've never bought or sold. I have it on my streaming just to look at it. It's so simple, it's always the first stock that goes up, and the first stock that goes down, always seems to be 'leading the pack trend'. A small stock, and one that I'd never BID on, try watching it sometime for a period.
Yeah the fairy godmother told me what the symbol was... but I forgot.
give credit to Bob Pisani who first broke this
No credit, he is so far in the negative credit area for being a tool, this in no way digs him out!!
Someone big is buying, someone big is selling. They disagree about the value of the stock.
That matches the frequency of HFTs and the FED fuck with the market.
Mandelbrot would be proud that IBM is taking his ideas of fractals and true chaos theory into the real world testing environment.
Off topic, but someone tried to assassinate Hillary Clinton in Israel. The story was first reported in Reuters, but quick suppressed. Total blackout in the Zionist controlled MSM.

Saw something about it on VT but am withholding judgement as to its veracity for now ...
There IS a Skynet. Ever since I started poking some of the Gold Bugs here, I get a "Gold is going to $10,000 an ounce" ad thingie on every youtube video I view. Plus, because I look up guitar tabs, I keep getting these Guitar Center ads, some with the exact guitars I own on the ad. I feel like I am being stalked by the Intertubz.
Who is John Connor???

Pure coincidence! Everyone knows that stock price changes are a random walk. /sarc off

My advisor told me not to trade in Benny Stocks -- too easily manipulated. And now his phone is disconnected. Dammit.
Are those poly-graph charts, someone is not telling the truth!

Do yourselves a favor everyone. Stay the fukk out of this casino until the fukker crashes. I realize I pretty much speak to the choir here other than Robo.
Choir or not it's saged advice ....
End of wave 2 in the Dow is nigh.
http://bullandbearmash.com/index/djia/hourly/
And secular wave 4 with the decline from 2000 being wave 1. I repeat - massive secular resistance around spx 1400 +/- 20.
Blanket apology.
Several days ago I chastized a contributor for using shit bag fucking bad language.
Sorry. No one appointed me Dean of Decorum or Arbiter of English ..... sometimes you just gotta say, "What the fuck".
Plus, if ya can't use street lingo then how is POTUS gonna see through the coke haze he's accustom to.
Traders are destined to be destroyed
By THE MACHINES!!!!!!!
IBM and MCD: this is seriously disconcerting. These stocks have large floats and large market caps. To move such stocks in an oscillation like this speaks volumes as to what the market (non-market) has become.
Unbelievable.
Because MCD was on my watchlist, I noticed this bullsh!t days ago. Even posted about it.
It was Exxon getting flashed a few months ago. Big article and whoop-de-doo...here on ZH. No one else cares (!) (?) (...)
That oscillation has all the characteristics of a forcing function; someone with massive capital driving index components up and down to feel out external resistance and support. Meanwhile, the real profits were likely being made in the options pits.
perhaps IBM, KO, and MCD are all just responding to the anticipated weakening of the USD through more dollar printing by the Fed....my guess is that is what is going on.....
perhaps IBM, KO, and MCD are all just responding to the anticipated weakening of the USD through more dollar printing by the Fed....my guess is that is what is going on.....
This must have been happening with large caps in the SPX also.
Whoo-oo, doggies!!! That's some whipsaw, isn't it? "Buy it on the hour, hit it on the half-hour". Put a big ol' bollinger band on that 1 min and see what you can do with it. May I try to help? 'One side of the BB to the other'. Ha!
My crystal (meth? yikes!) ball might work and it might not, but here goes. The Target for KO of 6/4/12 L is $80.38. The 7/16/12 L has a Target of 80.67 on it. Neither 'have to hit'. Duhh... I have no idea if either will. If it goes above that a bit, then $84.50 area enters equation.
IBM,,,was in a short from 6/19 with target of $181.82 that hit at 181.85 and bounced on good EPS. Needs to 'confirm long' by getting above 199.69 area... Give or take. If so, sets up target of 223 area. If not,,,well, possible $175 looms. Oh look, we're almost 38% to the long target! How clever...
MCD has to 'very soon' break above 94 area and $96 to 'break the short' it is in. If not, then $82 enters as a Target. If so, recent L's have long term Target of $109. My long 'Stop' is at 89.25 area for MCD. I have NO IDEA of fundamentals on these, folks, just lookin' at the chart ONLY. OK? ok. (sigh) Strictly fibonacci.
Has anyone noticed the current /ES and/or spx Day chart comparing to last year July of how similar we are this year? Anyone? We have a Fed meeting coming up. We have nutjobs wanting 'payback' war (because of red-headed stepchild?). Of course we DO have Targets way above in the 1400's and beyond. (Like I know if it will get there or not.) The Day chart looks exactly as last year, right before the selloff.
Feeling 'lucky'??? Fool me once,,, ok,,,2000 once, 2008 twice,,,now uhh,,thrice?
How big did they say was that Lithium deposit in Afghanistan? Now what can we 'invent' with Lithium? And we'll 'need a supply'? Hmm...
(my first post on ZH :)
Maybe lithium is the active ingredient in hopium.
More fun than crop circles. (TWAP = Trades Where Algos Prefer)
Ah, if only TNA/TZA could exhibit this glorious oscillation for even a day, I could retire. (Come to think of it, TNA does show the same pattern, only on the minute and half-minute).
Trandaction tax inversely proportional to time of holding. Under 1 minute the rate goes exponential.
Fixed!
The HFTs are gaming every market double time at the moment. Watching Australian ASX200 which is just hilarious on algo's trying to game momo players. But they are sitting tight.
A flash crash is primed.
Somebody's getting jerked around. Oh yea, it's me and my pension fund manager.
But think of the liquidity, don't you just love it?
Just let me know how to join a class action lawsuits.
Oh, lookie here on Bloomberg:
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-07-20/hourly-price-swings-whipsaw-inv...
thats why these f*ckers from here http://www.marketwatch.com/story/volatility-just-aint-what-it-used-to-be... fail to understand that dailies look supported and volatility looks suppressed due to bid/offers being so tight and fast (HFTs).
Looks like the Liouville function...
