Moments ago a building in the Harlem part of New York appears to have i) exploded and ii) collapsed, with people trapped inside.

Emergency crews are reportedly on the scene of a possible building explosion in East Harlem.
Details are limited but the incident reportedly happened this morning in the area of East 116th Street and Park Avenue.
NY1 has a crew heading to the scene and will have more information as it becomes available.

There are reports that people are trapped after part of the building collapsed. It is unclear what caused the explosion at this time, but Con Ed was requested on rush for a gas leak.

Authorities are responding to reports of an explosion and collapse in Manhattan.
FDNY said it was responding to 116th Street and Park Avenue. Smoke could be seen from midtown, a few miles away.
There was no immediate word about injuries.
Metro-North trains in the area were halted because of debris on tracks, and some passengers reported being ordered off their trains at 125th Street.
