I'm sorry I just couldn't do it to all the cool buds that post on here besides we can't get rid of the buds smokin up the room. Just think...soon, it'll be a brand new day.
How about a sale/lease-back instead?
The Chinese have a difficult time saying sale-leaseback.
Have them practice on "propeller"
Sell, sell, sell, but I want an extra trillion $$ if Arnold goes with the sale.
Why dont we purchase Baja in exchange for all the foreign aid/imf bailouts, then jack up the price thru the typical S&L scam - THEN - sell it to the chineese for ten trill or so at credit card rates where they would perpetually send their crap over here just to meet the interest payment. Meantime they would probably have a positive impact in replacing the Mexican government - think of it as a pilot project.
We live in California and we voted yes, but we don't want the New Yorkers to gloat.
debt jubilee is just paer and electronic records. California, otoh, is the nicest piece of land this side of the Pacific.
Funny. I'd much rather sell Manhattan Island to the Saudis. Get rid of the pig men *and* provide a serious conflict of interest to every sunni extremist.
Yes, sell Manhattan to India for gold.
1. Greatest mark-up of all time.
2. Get out at top of market.
3. Gets rid of FED and GS.
The pigmen are the real terrorists anyway.
Marla, Marla, Mistress of my dreams (say Mahalanobis distance again, oh so slowly), why limit the bidding to China?
In an open auction, surely Texas would outbid all, just to be the largest state again! Not to mention the delicious prospect of executing San Quentin's entire death row on a single day! Why, George Bush (fils) would surely run for Governor again, so he could order cadres of Texas Rangers to South Central and the Castro district.
Makes one giddy with the prospect, no? Ubu.
Can we wait until summer is over?
Marla, I think you had better add Mandarin to your drop down menu of languages, time to become adept at Chinese!
Ahhh, such ressentiment from all you non-Californian losers we superior beings must endure.
Let's review the basics of why California is vastly better than where you live:
- Perfect weather in most of the state most of the year. And really when it's bad we're talking dry heat in the desert or a chilly 55 in San Francisco.
- Intense natural beauty, which we mar with ugly development and pollution less than nearly all other economically advanced regions.
- The worldwide center of the entertainment industry
- The location of most of much of the world's most innovative scientists and entrepreneurs.
Sorry you guys realize you could never make it hear. It is truly wonderful to be a rich person in California.
Enjoy your lame schadenfreude at our minor municipal budget issues, and thanks for buying all those mortgage bonds that financed our middle class's decade long consumption and building binge!
Anonymous,
Yes you are exactly the kind of non-californian californian I am talking about, people like you are the problem...thanks for making my point.
you can not eat movies, drink the sun, and produce goods with Facebook .. Cali is worthless ...
lol
Tech is good, but your society sucks.
oh and Facebook and the likes of it is not tech, but simply a copy of Yellow Pages with some nice pictures attached ...
wachya mean MY SOCIETY ... its not my society because a) am not an American and b) look a
You have all that AND Nancy Pelosi and Maxine Waters. Living the dream, baby!
Silicon Valley's "innovation problem" is pretty well-documented at this point. I'd tell you where all the smarties are fleeing to, but it's better if you don't find out :)
If you think you've destroyed your natural beauty less than nearly all other economically advanced regions, then you, in all seriousness, should get out more.
??????
Callifornia
PS I tried to comment in Mandarin but ZH does not seem to have that option...I think we better get used to Mandarin,,,,:)
Sure, sell it. But what about JP? The reason for the massive Treasury sales recently is due to the repayment of 4T... starting a few weeks ago to JP. They have until late 2011 to clear the long bonds from late 70's and early 80's... when JP was printing USD. lol, what a corrupt fucking system.

I live in California...
And I voted "Yes".
Better a corrupt Chinese governor than the current California legislature.
I was born and have lived my entire life in California. I voted no. I have a better plan. Approximately 70% of California residents were born somewhere else. How about all of you go home. This was a much better state until every reject from elsewhere decided to come for the "California dreamin'".
No I agree with you there Todd, 100%. 90% of California's problem is the 75% of the people migrated there weather form Mexico, Texas, NY, or Asia. Once they get there and realize the streets aren't actually paved in gold they get bitter, but have made their choice and I guess are "forced" to stay there. This all leads to entire communities becoming so apathetic to what is going on that even if they do vote, it's a Roe Sham Bo to see who gets the job as assemblyman, or state senate. Few people I have met who aren't from cali, ever spent as much as 5 minutes concerning themselves with the problems of the state, they were there to get their gold rush, and the problems of the state were someone elses...And anyone who wants to talk about whats wrong is a anti-social, debbie downer, party pooper. I can't tell you how many times I almost got into a fight last year talking about this stuff on Venice beach, No one wants to hear it, they just want to complain, and piss in the street...
Is this a joke? You Okie idiots cause your own problems. Get rid of Proposition 13 and all will be fine. Put improvements into the land instead of restricting supply and treating your houses like an ATM.
elimination of proposition 13 would accelerate
the incineration of ca.....
proposition 13 was the only adult supervision
that state of 38 million children ever had...
That's not the right attitude. Anyway, it's not like you have allodial titles to 'your' property.

Please, they wouldn't want California. They wouldn't even take it if we paid them, which we don't have the money to do.
The sad thing is we are going to end up selling them Alaska, as they'll want the oil and to have Russia surrounded.
Why don't we simply default?
Just stop paying.
What are the Chinese going to foreclose on?
Its unsecured debt.
LOL.....
You'd have to get rid of the 14th Amendment, which may be part of the plan...
there is a very powerful private banking
cartel which would not take kindly to a default....
the fed would certainly declare war on amerika
with a multi-million man chinese army storming
on washington in the event of a default...
Actually, this was Murray Rothbard's solution to government debt. We can't pay it off, so we should just be honest and say so, rather than monetizing it.
This is the best solution for American citizens, since a default would impare their government's ability to borrow and fuck up the country with regulations, handouts and wars.
Why should the country's future production be on the hook for the bogus promises of a bunch of politicians?
"We can't pay it off, so we should just be honest and say so, rather than monetizing it."
The US will default eventually--there's no way the Fed is stupid enough to keep monetizing forever.
Unfortunately, every time I think that there's a limit to its stupidity, it defies all my imagination and finds an even bigger lunacy to promote. But there's gotta be a limit somewhere. Monetization is probably it (eventually).
fuk off douches, maybe california just secedes and then where will you douches be. 10th largest economy in the world baby US ain't shit witHOUT cALI!!!
10th largest economy in the world ain't shit without any trading partners! But if you can get by without shipping any of your stuff to the other 49 states, then evidently the US never needed you in the first place.
This is an interesting point. If everything was about money, why would the people that print the money for you to play with, need you/state when they can just keep the money to themselves?
Trade is not a new idea but it is the most environmentally damaging practice that currently exists. however, the damage it causes is the release of all sorts of toxins due to practically unregulated shipping fuel which is far more damaging then all the power plants and cars currently 'polluting'... but it also helps cool the earth... though they also give you cancer and other medical problems. Trade is therefore vital. But watch that CO2, it's no good for you!
$82 billion in the red. C'mon brohem, even the gromies know da shit stinks.

And I think I know how we got there.
Sell California? Can't do it... It would be a shame to lose equity interest in all that premo cali weed. I say sell'em the FED and then repeal the federal reserve act. American's would rather be able to smoke good weed than have credit they don't need.
Shit.
Any site that has a 'manifesto' is probably a cluster of poo flinging sub human chimpanzee's masquerading as intellectual land capable shellfish.
As my uncle Koko the gorilla used to say. A manifesto is nothing more than a public declaration of principles. And yes, he does fling poo.
As a California I would love to be invited to be a Citizen of a country with a positive balanced budget, no environmentalist and no unions. woo hoo.
A command and control economy is great if you aren't being commanded. The economic and social system is flawed and does not technical allow the financial gains as seen in the past for introductions of new technologies and the betterment of the human condition. Until many people realise this, the real game is never going to be understood.
People still believe this? Yes, fascism (aka fake democracy ran by corporations) has the best conditions for producing financial gains for said corporations. That does not mean more value for the common person is produced. The new technology argument is the only thing keeping us afloat right now.
As a native born citizen of the People's Republic of California (replete with a Long Form Birth Certificate), I voted "yes."
The Chinese are smarter capitalists than any of the dildoes in Sacratomato, and the ChiComs could show the wussy CA version of lefties how real ass is kicked when it's time for the agenda to go down throats and up reluctant rectums (admittedly few and far between in CA). The PRC would have the PRC running like a top faster than you could say "Taking Tiger Mountain By Strategy."
