FOREX - Fickle?

A top of the head question, and maybe naive.
I was thinking one sunday (well this one), with todays increased retail end in the forex markets especially the day trader "fad", has this effected profits?
As I thought over the coming weeks trading activity I suddenly concluded that my risk management was wider then before, my Stop losses are quiet frankly massive thus the lot purchase reduced to fit the risk model, reduced profits.
Has day trading to the masses and its fad like status effected profits as we cover wider volatility on the shorter timeframes? Are they effecting profit margins?
May or may not be interesting to examine.
