DC High School Graduation Rate To Plummet From 73% To 42% After Massive Fraud Revealed

Far fewer seniors attending D.C. Public Schools are on track to earn their diplomas this June after a graduation fraud investigation revealed that one in three students passed high school in violation of city policy.

Data released Thursday by D.C. Public Schools show that just 42 percent of seniors are on track to graduate, vs. 73 percent in 2017. Meanwhile, 19 percent of students are considered "moderately off track," meaning they are failing one or two courses but could potentially earn a diploma through summer school or credit recovery programs. 

Even if all 19% of "moderately off track" students receive diplomas, the graduate is still tracking 12 percentage points lower than last year.

The investigation into the fraud showed that students who were unqualified due to missing too many classes or improperly taking makeup classes were allowed to graduate. 

Adding to the mess, over a quarter of freshmen have "withdrawn or transferred" out of the D.C. Public Schools system.

D.C. graduation rates reflect the percentage of students who receive their diplomas in four years. Twenty-six percent of students who started freshman year with the class of 2018 have either withdrawn or transferred out of the D.C. Public Schools system. The city still needs to determine how many of these students transferred to another school, and how many dropped out. -WaPo

Due to the investigation, this is the first year that the city has released graduation projections months before diplomas are handed out, so it's difficult to compare to previous years. According to the D.C. Public School system website, 77 percent of the student population is economically disadvantaged.

The school system promised to strictly enforce long-ignored attendance policies - failing students if they are absent a class more than 30 times in a school year.  At D.C.'s worst school, Anacostia High, only 19 percent of seniors "have passed or are passing the classes required to receive their diplomas," according to WaPo, while 25 percent are considered "moderately off-track."

The highest ranked school in D.C., Wilson, is tracking at a 56% graduation rate - while Ballou High School, the epicenter of the controversy which ignited the investigation, 14% of seniors have already accrued 30 absences in a class - earning automatic failing grades.

30 days in a typical school year would be approx 3.3 days.

Well, the "system" can excuse a fertile female because of her menstrual cycle - maybe 2 days per month because of severe cramps.  But that, in itself, is awfully lenient.  For example my sister never missed a school day because of menstrually related issues.  Of course guys don't get that break.

If we were both honest and merciful, we would admit that the majority of 'African Americans' are not suited for school beyond seventh or eighth grade. (85 avg IQ).

We would stop torturing them with unrealistic expectations and let them be.

The so-called 'talented tenth', if they can manage it , should be permitted to continue and graduate.

False egalitarianism does none of us any favors.

I don't disagree with much of your statement other than the word "permitted" it should be the choice of the individual. Also perhaps training for the low IQ in task they may excel at instead, machine operator, mechanics  basically more hands on type of work (you do this and this happens) would be a good option in HS for these types of students. I would also say that the schools need to quickly sort out the brighter students and remove them from the building so they aren't bullied and have their time wasted by catering to the low IQ students. Please recognize that there are plenty of Hi IQ kids that can be trouble makers but that is usually because they are bored. There are also plenty of low IQ kids that aren't trouble makers. The trouble makers need to be removed quickly at a young age and placed in a high disciplined learning environment for their own good.

I can guarantee that the 14% white students in that school should receive some sort of survivor medal in addition to their diploma. How any parent could subject their child to that level of abuse is beyond me. It's got to be nothing more than a circus in that school with learning being a far distant 2nd to any other objective. The teachers are probably just happy to make it home every night.

Some parents are bad parents but generally most black parents I've spoken to want the best for their kids like anyone else. Unfortunately there are plenty of parents that are just lazy and selfish and their kids as well as the rest of us pay for it. The welfare cycle must be broken. Reproduction subsidising must stop. Child tax credits go to people that never paid taxes to begin with.

West Virginia ranks in the top 10% for several categories, including number of residents on welfare, most amount of high school dropouts, as well as a high number of payday loans per capita.

Tennessee

Population: 6,650,000

White percent 78.7

The Volunteer State ranks in the top 5 for three separate metrics, including a high number of aggravated assaults, large percentage of welfare recipients.

Missouri

Population: 6,093,000

White percent 82.8

The number of drug-related crimes and aggravated assaults, combined with the high number of poor dropouts.

Despite the praise, a school’s graduation rate isn’t a sure predictor of how ready students are for college. Some of the West Virginia high schools with the best graduation rates also have a high percentage of students who aren’t prepared to take entry-level math and English classes in college, according to data from the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.

The Gazette-Mail compared HEPC data, which shows the percent of students who graduated in the spring of 2016 and went on to need remedial classes at one of the state’s public colleges, with state Department of Education data on graduation rates for the same year.

Remedial education is a serious issue in Tennessee. According to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, nearly 70 percent of Tennessee community college freshmen place into remedial coursework every year.

The percent of population has zero to do with categories of crime, welfare utilization and dropouts. If these categories were heavily over-represented by minorities of typical inner cities such as Nashville and Knoxville Tennessee; Saint Louis, Missouri or Charleston, West Virginia, then your "analysis" belongs in the same toilet your mother birthed you into, you fucking twat.

Performance per dollar invested in minority dominated areas sucks, and as with all government policies, uses it failure to justify doubling down.

How about we talk about CULTURE. How about we talk about expectations, of the system AND by the individuals. How about we talk about people who REJECT those things like education, work and traditional prosperity? Leading a horse to water?

Why don't we talk about the outright hostility of minorities....especially blacks, towards anything white? Pretending that discrimination that existed and was largely rejected fifty years ago is as prevalent as ever....even after OBAMA. 

What conservatives are discovering is that compromise is defeat. Every compromise is taken as proof of every negative slur aimed at us. Each compromise is nothing but a symbol of failure, defeat, and retreat. It is but another rallying call for progressives to turn the heat up even more.

This racism bulshit is just that and at this late date if conservatives are to survive, we are going to have to accept and tolerate being called racists and worse. And we are NOT going to win through debate. Again debate is yet another defeat as they NEVER use debate as anything but a forum of disparagement, hoping that conservatives will lose their cool, again proof of our deplorable violent ignorant nature.
