Russia Furious As U.S. Navy Destroyer Approaches Syria Without Notification

Late on Monday we reported that US Navy Destroyer, USS Donald Cook (DDG-75), equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles, as well as the Aegis missile defence system, was approaching the port of Tartus in Syria, which doubles as the location for the Syrian logistics base of the Russian Navy. According to CNN Turk, the US destroyer was at at a distance of 100 km from the port, as of Monday.

The destroyer, which left the Cypriot port of Larnaka and was headed for the Syrian shore, was reportedly buzzed by Russian warplanes which circled above the US warship four times.

To be sure, Russia is concerned, and seemingly angry, that another showdown may be imminent. According to Pravda, the Chairman of the State Duma Defence Committee Vladimir Shamanov said that the United States did not notify Russia of the approach of the group of US warships to the Russian naval base in Tartus.

"A group of ships of the US Navy has appeared at a distance of 150 miles from the Tartus region. It is common in international practice potential participants of events in the area should be notified accordingly in advance. We have not been notified, although we had legally ratified the agreement on two bases in Tartus and Khmeymim," the official said.

"Moreover, US President Donald Trump said that he would think about the missile attack on Syria despite any resolutions at the UN Security Council. All this smells of something are outside the framework of universally recognised international norms," Shamanov added, suggesting that Russia is preparing for a Syria attack.

More troubling is that also on Monday, Russia's Ambassador to the UN Vasily Nebenzia said that the Americans would have to deal with  "serious consequences" should they attack Syria.

"We have repeatedly warned the American side about highly negative consequences that may follow if they apply weapons against the legitimate Syrian government, and especially if the use of these weapons - God forbid, affects our military men, who legally stay in Syria," the Russian Ambassador to the UN said at a meeting of the UN Security Council.

However, after yesterday news that the office of Trump's personal lawyer was raided by the FBI and that attorney-client privilege between Trump and Cohen may be compromised, it now appears that in a desperate diversion attempt from his domestic troubles, a military response against Syria by Trump is now inevitable, especially following today's news that the president is canceling his trip to Peru's Summit of the Americas in order to "oversee" the Syria Military Response.

(sorry to repeat, but I don't want anyone to miss it)

General Wesley Clark: Wars Were Planned - Seven Countries In Five Years - YouTube - March 2007

And he said, "I just got this down from upstairs" -- meaning the Secretary of Defense's office -- "today." And he said, "This is a memo that describes how we're going to take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and, finishing off, Iran." I said, "Is it classified?" He said, "Yes, sir." I said, "Well, don't show it to me." And I saw him a year or so ago, and I said, "You remember that?" He said, "Sir, I didn't show you that memo! I didn't show it to you!"

New Russian military doctrine? Tit-for-tat cruise missile strikes on Western Leaders and Media as the responsible parties for international war crimes. Spare NATO forces in the battlefield. The West's leaders will only understand if they are threatened personally. Watching idiots like Boris Johnson give addresses from their bunkers while ordinary people continue to go about their lives in peace would be very entertaining.

Just imagine, Prime Minister May could only attend parliament when in the company of anti-war MPs, by using them as human shields. Normally craven public officials strangely unwilling to remain in their presence. How much would I pay to see that.

Deplorables did not vote for more costly and dangerous wars in the ME that end up with American troops dead in their twenties, underemployed Americans even deeper in debt and foreigners hating us and using their hatred as an excuse to commit gruesome mass murders in the US and Europe. Regardless of the virtue-signaling of Western media elites who see it as saving babies, the foreigners involved do not see it that way. We need the USS Donald to get back on 1) stopping the wage-cutting and welfare-consuming illegal aliens who are pouring across the southern border and 2) stopping the mass offshoring of jobs to Asia & Mexico. We need him to get back on the issues that put him in office, no matter what the corrupt Swampers think of it.

“Historical memory teaches us that the West’s use of proxy mercenaries is not new. The West has destroyed a series of countries in quick succession since 11 September 2001 (9/11), including but not limited to Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya, all by design, and always aided and abetted by mercenary ground troops.

But Syria has strong institutions and strong allies. It will be victorious, to the benefit of Syrians and humanity.”

Hopefully not.  We have been provoking Russia since Crimea returned to Russia and we responded by loading up the Black Sea with all sorts of ships and armed materiel in Ukraine.  We this past summer then did the same thing to the Baltic states.  Russia is concerned because while they were willing it seemed to let Ukraine sort of go its way as an buffer State, the notion of it joining the EU disturbed them.  We kept it up.

I live on the coast of our mid Atlantic region and for the past two years really in response to our much more aggressive position in Eastern Europe, Russian military ships and subs have made routine warm weather journeys from Cuba up to around Boston.  They stay out past the legal limit and really haven't done anything aggressive at all.  It's in the news here but because our deep sea fisherman see them on their way out and back, everything has seemed calm.

But this move toward Syria really goes way too far.  We in the US are protected - or used to be - by having two oceanic coast lines.  The majority of Russia's population and industry is on their western flank and so what we have been doing there has been viewed as very threatening.

Now Trump really is making a huge mistake if he doesn't back off because the tensions have been building and Putin who is patient obviously finds it wearing thin.  I don't believe he wants a war but I can't say that for our own neocons and if Trump oversees the death of American sailors, he might as well just leave.

We have 80 overseas bases and Russia has one.  Time for Trump to understand if he hits the wrong target he will hear possibly from more than Russia.  Iran and China are watching and it's just not worth our provoking anyone much more.  And it will be harder now to get NK to take us seriously if we start something up in Syria.

We have absolutely no proof whatsoever that this last chemical attack was sponsored by either Assad or Putin.  Trump believes in innocent until proven guilty for himself and it would seem that that same concept isn't extended to the Skripal situation never mind to the Syrians who do not want us involved in their nation.

Neither Mrs. May nor President Trump bother to go to the appropriate international organizations to work out just who does what.  One set of rules for everyone or we lose.

Your comment is spot on and I will have no choice but to abandon my support for Trump if he launches one single missile. I will NOT support ANYONE who believes killing others for political gain or distraction is acceptable.

DO NOT DO IT, PRESIDENT TRUMP!! YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MOST ARDENT SUPPORTERS, THEN YOU WILL HAVE NO ONE!

The President always has been and always will be completely useless.  It is a vacant position in reality, formed and idolized through the media to give the false pretense to the masses that he is in power, when he clearly is not.  Trump does not want a war, but he values his life and his families' life....

It's just that simple.  The global banking neocons are satanists and are the ones behind this.  You voted for a leader but the real leaders aren't in view.  Your supposed 'support' and vote means absolutely nothing.

My hope one day is that people will finally realize this and stop engaging in such mindless banter, like which candidate to support or which party to vote for.  The political arena is a complete shell game meant to distract.

Exactly the position they want you to have. Voting matters as long as you do not vote for any republican OR democrat. Both parties are utterly corrupt and beyond repair. No matter your political stripe do not vote for any candidate that takes one corporate dollar. Of course it would serve the populace best to plug their noses and join forces but the corporate media has made that impossible because that is where our power lies. Divide and conquer.

Yes ,this is true.

But the Donald has a great chance here to show he is an alpha male (I doubt it ,but let's play).

-Make a national presidential address ,no TV station will dare censor it.

-Explain to the American people that this is a false flag ,this is a war which will be based on lies (like Iraq,Kuwait,Libya,Ukraine,Afghanistan...) and he ,as a president who campaigned on MAGA and peace ,he can not support this  illegal ,irresponsible ,treasonous act ,and he resigns as a protest .

-He will be become legend and gain instantaneous support here and abroad

 Great and spot on comment.

As for those chemical attacks:

There is a well established pattern with Mr. Assad's "chemical attacks":

-he does this after he wins a major battle (in this case E Ghouta)

-the bodies of victims are always women and children ( no men) ,pilled one on top another (as people like to fall and die in a natural way)

- it is at the same time with the killing of women and children in Gaza and Palestine , as throwing stones are acts of terror against peaceful Israhelli tanks

- the White helmets are always there to immortalize those heinous acts of the "animal and monster Assad" (as the Donald and Haley have said)

-those attacks always happen in the terrorists ( mildly moderate or awfully moderate) held areas

-the western press, governments immediately know who the culprit is (even if they do not drop their passports )

-threats and actions of wars are always adopted by the brave western protectors of life and truth ,to punish the " animal" and his enablers ,Russia (which is not a normal country) and Iran (  because Israhell said so ,mainly)

-is guilty until proven innocent a western value now?
