Storm Clouds Gather: As Russia Warns Of False Flag In EU, Politico Talks "Franz Ferdinand Moment"

Russian state publications are citing a new statement by the country's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) warning that Ukraine is planning a false-flag operation in the EU, in order to draw NATO and Moscow into direct conflict. "The Kiev regime is planning to carry out a provocation in Poland with sabotage and reconnaissance groups disguised as Russian and Belarusian special forces," the agency told TASS.

This month has been particularly tense, after Poland accused Russia of sending a 'wave' of drones into its airspace, some of which were intercepted when Polish fighter jets were scrambled. The Sept. 9 incident involved over 20 drones reportedly breaching Polish airspace, raising alarm among other NATO states, and triggering somewhat rare "Article 4 consultations".
