Police Officer Killed After Kansas City Shooting, Suspects At Large

Another day, another police officer shot. Moments ago KSHB reoprted that A Kansas City police officer has been shot, according to the police chief. Chief Terry Zeigler tweeted that an officer had been shot at 22nd and Haskell.

According to a local report the officer was responding to a driveby shooting. A chase ensued and suspects emerged from a vehicle and shot the officer.

According to police, officers responded to a shots fired call at about 1:30 p.m. at Second and Edgerton. One person was taken into custody.


The caller said multiple people were shooting at him from a vehicle. Officers arrived at the scene at 1:37 p.m., and the suspects fled from the vehicle. An officer took one person into custody. As the second officer pursued the other suspects and made contact with one of them at 1:57 p.m., multiple shots were fired, and the officer was hit.

The officer was taken to a hospital, where he later died. Authorities said he was wearing a bullet-resistant vest.
