In a move that is certain to provoke more accusations of Twitter censorship, this morning Twitter has suspended the account of Glenn Reynolds, aka @instapundit and creator of the Instapundit blog, a University of Tennessee law professor and a conservative columnist for USA TODAY, following a tweet that urged motorists to run over demonstrators blocking traffic in Charlotte, N.C., caused an uproar.
In response to a tweet from a TV news station in Charlotte that showed protesters on Interstate 277, the @Instapundit account wrote, "Run them down."
As the Huffington Post notes, his post inspired many on the social media network to suggest that USA Today and the university drop Reynolds:
Was Reynolds' statement an expression of free speech or an incitement to violence? According to Twitter, the answer is the latter: as of this moment, the @instapundit account remains suspended.
