A female student, Jade Armenio, of Woodside High School, located just outside of Palo Alto in Northern California, was viciously attacked after posting her support of Donald Trump on Instagram. According to an account of the incident from The Mercury News, the attack came from a student who approached Armenio and exclaimed "You support Trump. You hate Mexicans."
“This girl comes up to me and she said, ‘Do you hate Mexicans?’ and I was like, ‘no,’ and she said, ‘You support Trump. You hate Mexicans,’ ” she said in an interview with KGO-TV.
Not long after, the girl removed her eyeglasses and punched Jade, threw her to the ground and continued hitting her, according to multiple student cellphone videos obtained by this newspaper. Jade was left with a bloody nose, scratches and bruises.
“She’s pretty shaken up, and rightfully so,” said Todd Armenio, who noted that his family does support the president-elect. “It makes me sick to my stomach that people would do this to other people. It’s sickening, and no one has the right to touch another person.”
The incident prompted yet another "sit-in" in California as students expressed difficulty dealing with the disturbing attack. And, of course, the best thing to do at the first hint of elevated stress levels is to avoid class...convenient.
Students on Thursday had mixed feelings about what happened, expressing sympathy for their suspended schoolmate while disavowing the violence.
But they walked out of class and gathered en masse in the quad Thursday morning, after the airing of the television news piece on the attack, staging a sit-in where upward of 100 students took turns expressing their reactions, hopes and fears about the election.
Gillian Person, a 17-year-old senior, said the campus confrontation galvanized her fellow classmates, regardless of where they fell on the political spectrum.
“This is something that’s happening not only at our school, but in the entire U.S.,” she said.
Meanwhile, this latest attack comes after a report yesterday of an older white Chicago man being viciously beaten by several young black men simply because he voted for Trump.
* * *
Shocking video out of Chicago shows a mob of young black men viciously beating an older white man because he voted for Donald Trump, dragging him through the streets as he hangs out of the back of his car.
The clip shows the thugs repeatedly screaming, “you voted Donald Trump” as they assault the victim from every angle while others steal his belongings.
“You voted Trump,” the mob screams, “You gonna pay for that sh*t.”
Another woman shouts “beat his ass,” while another man is heard laughing before remarking, “Don’t vote Trump.”
A second video of the incident which is dubbed with the “F**k Donald Trump” song, a phrase now being chanted by “protesters” across the country, shows one of the attackers driving away in the man’s vehicle while his hand is still stuck in the window as the car drags him down the street.
“The scene is frankly reminiscent of a lynching,” remarks Chris Menahan.
It is not even clear if the victim was a Trump supporter. Presumably, the mob used that as an excuse to beat and rob him.
YouTube quickly deleted the video, but it has been mirrored on numerous different websites.
If the roles had been reversed, and Trump supporters had been caught on tape viciously beating a black Hillary voter, this would be a national news story right now.
As it is, you won’t see this on CNN any time soon.
Violence and retribution for the election of Trump has proven to be the result of a media-driven attack on his character. For months now, the pundits and columnists have done nothing but tell the population that Trump supporters are racists, etc. and now racially-motivated beatings are taking place in the street without any other pretext or provocation.
Are they proud of themselves yet? And how far will this violence spread?
