Saudi Arabia Gives Qatar 24 Hour Ultimatum As Analysts Warn Of "Military Confrontation"

Shortly after imposing a naval blockade in the immediate  aftermath of the Qatar diplomatic crisis, one which left the small Gulf nation not only politically isolated and with severed ties to its neighbors but potentially locked out of maritime trade and crippling its oil and LNG exports, on Tuesday SkyNews Arabia reported that Saudi Arabia has given Qatar a 24 hours ultimatum, starting tonight, to fulfill 10 conditions that have been conveyed to Kuwait, which is currently involved in the role of a mediator between Saudi and Qatar.

According to media report, among the key demands by Saudi Arabia is that Qatar end all ties Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas.

While there was little additional information on the Ultimatum and more importantly what happens should Qatar not comply, Al Jazeera reported that Kuwait's emir, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, left Saudi Arabia on Tuesday after holding mediation talks with the Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz to try to defuse an escalating crisis between Arab countries and Qatar. No details were given on the talks.

In addition to Saudi Arabia's aggressive approach, Egypt's Foreign Ministry accused Qatar of taking an "antagonist approach" towards Cairo and said "all attempts to stop it from supporting terrorist groups failed". Qatar denied the allegations, with a Foreign Ministry statement describing them as "baseless" on Monday.

Speaking to Al Jazeera, analyst Giorgio Cafiero of Gulf State Analytics, a geopolitical risk consultancy based in Washington, DC, said: "I think the Kuwaitis as well as Omanis ... fear the prospects of these tensions escalating in ways which could undermine the interest of all six members of the GCC.

"There are many analysts who believe that a potential break-up of the GCC has to be considered right now."

"If these countries fail to resolve their issues and such tensions reaches new heights, we have to be very open to the possibility of these six Arab countries no longer being able to unite under the banner of one council," said Cafiero.

He added that if tension escalates, some have warned of a "military confrontation".

Bingo Blotto.... the Hook nose is a dead give-away.It's still fascinating to see the mostly pro-trump slant in comments. What is not obvious to even the most obtuse amongst us?Isn't it time to just turn our collective backs on the entire political establishment? Things ignored usually wither up and blow away.Trump, May, Modi, Macron, Troo-dough and whoever is the latest vassal leading OZ.... what a frightening bunch.... Fuck em all....

Well, this is awkward… Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base, is more than a tad important to the US as is loving relations with the Saudis. Iran and Qatar are a thing but  Iran is muslima non-grata to both the US and the Saudis. All I can say is that I need to double the pallet/month popcorn blanket order.

Unlike Saudi Arabia, Qatar is a bitter enemy of Israel. It supports Hamas. Ironically, Hamas is a creation that it uses to justify its blood letting in Gaza. There is a clear pattern to US designation of terrorism. If the organisation favors Israel, it is not terrorist. If it opposes Israel, it is terrorist. Even though the first may be worst than the second.

no.  it is not time.  there is an unusual vulnerability to the deep state now and it apparently remains as long as trump remains.  they are in the open trying to put out a number of persistent fires.  a seth rich combined with a julian assange doesn't come along every decade.  there are so many loose ends and who really runs the fbi?  and the dnc for that matter.

"State Dept. knows Qatar is financing certain terrorist groups...Trump demanded from Saudi to end this in order to secure weapons deal."Quatar & it's Royal Family is (basically) CIA/ Mossad owned, along w/ Al Jazeeraa; & home to MANY U.S. miltary bases in the region, to boot...Think of it as a CIA/ Mossad outpost for terrorism in the Middle East, much like the Dominican Republic & Guatemala are to the CIA also. All along, Quatar has been using Saudi money to fund terrorist groups & terrorism in Syria; basically a 'front company' for the Saudis to do their dirty work in th region. So, something reallly interesting is going on here...If Trump is behind this manipulating of the Saudis to basically bring down/ destroy Quatar as the powerful agent for change that it is in the area, it seems he must be doing it to the deep state/ cia/ nsa in retaliation for all the trouble that they have been causing his Presidency since he won the election; along w/ a probable desire to show them who the boss is here...People claim Mr. Trump is stupid & of low I.Q.; if this (what appears to be going down almost immediately after his Saudi visit); is any indication of Mr. Trumps intelligence, I would say the man is a genius; as this whole deal is definately going to upset the whole CIA/ Deep State applecart in Syria as a result of these Saudi/ GCC actions against Quatar. It will also, more than likely end the 'secret' U.S. intervention in Syria (what Trump stated during the election he would do); if the Saudis are successful in their current actions against Quatar...Even though it appears to be a case of the pot calling the kettle black, by officially outing Quatar as the local's behind ISIS, the publicity will inevitably turn world opinion against the Saudis, Quatar & the U.S.; as their conspiracy will now become a internationally known fact thank's to the Saudis basically blowing the whistle on the whole operation; including their own involvement in this mess, along w/ Quatari Royal Family & the CIA, which will eventually come out.I seriously wonder what Trump said to them to get this kind of a reaction?

The end hour is rapidly approaching with a potential war in the middle east.  It's all part of the plan for the Great Deceiver, the Muslim Anti-Christ, Trump.  He will soon rally his forces for the final battle against Chrisitanity with the help of his Jew daugther Ivanka and Kushner. (Ever heard of Kushner's 666 5th Avenue, by the way?)ZH'ers have been calling me crazy for months, but with Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia and then Israel, and now this episode, the picture should be getting clearer and clearer for those who still don't believe.

According  to the wikileaks emails, Hilary destroyed Libya in order to "improve her optics". Is it then fair to destroy Qatar just to remove her bolt-hole and billions? That's a lot more dead people, just for Hilary. Conan the barbarian believed that all the people he killed would be his slaves in the afterlife - Crom may have to build a new one, just to accommodate the crowds Hilary will need.

They need war to clear away the current order of things. The tragedies soon to come will be used to justify what will be installed after. People will be convinced it is the only way. Peace and security in our time. Sudden destruction will come upon them. Any other reports out there of new medical equipment scanners with yet-to-be enabled software for right hands? How about some of the new ATM's that have a yet-to-be enabled hand reader already installed?

More obfuscation, this time to take attention AWAY from The Saudis (After the arms deal in exchange for delaying the payment for oil by China in CNY) and back onto Iran?Remember that the US has extensive Bases in Qatar and one of the motives in Syria has been the Qatari gas transit pipeline through Syria to the Med and Europe as opposed to Turkstream or the Russina pipeline under The Black Sea and through Syria to The Med.

but the five years has taken sixteen so far.  still and all, the inclusion of hamas is a tell.  maybe qatar ought to ask turkey to try an air to ship missile or ten on that saudi blockade.  it's been a long time since the saudis have had to fight on even terms with anyone.  note they showed no desire to try to evict saddam hussein from kuwait on their own.

It will be interesting, how Erdogan plays this...The Saudis are still struggling in Yemen, that's why they just purchased all those weapons. The whole thing stinks, and we can't trust a word of what we're being told.If anything, the creeps at the tippity top are turning on each other, which usually means a whole lot of pawns are about to die.
