Death Toll Rises In Taliban-Orchestrated Attack; 3 US Soldiers Died

This is a developing story...

Update: 4:40 p.m.

The New York Daily News and ABC are now reporting that three US soldiers died in an attack in Eastern Afghanistan for which the Taliban have now claimed responsibility. Government sources had earlier said two soldiers died.

Vice President Mike Pence, speaking in Wisconsin on Saturday, offered his condolences to the victims’ relatives.

"On my way here I was informed that U.S. service members were killed and wounded in an attack in Afghanistan," Pence said. "The president and I have been briefed; the details of this attack will be forthcoming. But suffice it to say, when heroes fall, Americans grieve. And our thoughts and prayers are with the families of these American heroes."

So called green-on-blue attacks aren’t uncommon in Afghanistan and happen for various reasons. The frequency of attacks spiked in 2012, but have reduced after better vetting practices were put in place, ABC reported.

Update: 1:20 p.m.

The AP is now reporting that the Taliban have taken credit for the attack. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in a statement that a Taliban loyalist had infiltrated the Afghan army "just to attack foreign forces."

A statement from the U.S. military said merely that the military was "aware of an incident in eastern Afghanistan."

White House spokesman Raj Shah told reporters traveling with the President Donald Trump in New Jersey that Trump was "following the emerging situation in Afghanistan."

Two US soldiers have been killed after an Afghan army soldier opened fired on them in eastern Afghanistan, an Afghan official told the Associated Press.

Attahullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor in Nangarhar province, told the AP Saturday that two other US soldiers were wounded in the attack, which took place in the Achin district.

He said the Afghan soldier was killed after the attack.

The insider attack was similar to an incident in March, when an Afghan soldier opened fire at a base in Helmand Province, wounding three US soldiers.

OT - this is not about getting high it's about alleviating suffering, and yes, it comes in pill form. Please sign and share this petition.petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/us-military-veterans-medical-marijuana-initiativeVeterans deserve the best we can offer and politicians should not stand in the way of what doctors decide is the best medicine for their patients. The POTUS should by Executive Order, decriminalize medical marijuana for our Veterans. Currently, Federal law prohibits Veteran Administration doctors from prescribing medical marijuana. Also, there's an unhealthy opioid epidemic among Veterans suffering chronic pain. Penultimately, over 20 Veterans take their own life each and every day. Studies have proven that medical marijuana can replace opiods for chronic pain, and can also reduce the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It is time for the Nation to re-recognise that prohibition doesn't work, and to go the full distance and provide medicine our Veterans need. Please help!  And, Thank You for your support!

No one will probably read this, but near me is a major Army base. Soldiers live in the rural area around, my children go to school with their children, and I know of six from the area that were killed in this stupid war, and about twelve fathers from my childrens' friends that have wounds of some kind or another. At the farmers's market I see quite a few amputees. This is crazy, and for what?

Love everything you do (for the record).

But let me tell you about living in Washington D.C. and a group called Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth that approached every one of these bought and paid for war whores in the halls of the Rayburn Building with a DVD and a letter calling for the evidence that wasn't in the "9/11 Commission Report"....

Where was Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich to pick up the baton from Senator "Paul Wellstone"?!!!

8 years later "crickets still chirpin" and Washington amazingly does not look like Aleppo City!

Cause where we are right now you've got to "raze the Capital to save the Capital"!

As a former Marine Corps officer, I certainly do not have anything against veterans per se, but there comes a point when the US military must assume responsibility for their choices.  If you are going to join the US military, you must be aware that you are joining the enforcement arm of a global mafia.  Part of the disinformation is labeling returning troops from the various wars as 'heroes' who we should be forever grateful for their service.  We especially see the NFL used to perpetuate this meme.  I know for veterans it's a bitter pill to swallow to realize that your government is corrupt beyond imagination, but the sooner you realize this, the better off you will be in the long run when the soft power of the US to perpetuate the 'heroes' narrative will not protect you from the consequences of your wars.

I'm surprised AmuriKKKa can still field a respectable army. Considering the vast mojority of fighting age sheep are either seriously overweight, allergic to everything, effiminate beyond belief, or are sporting face/neck/hand tattoos, who is left to build the fighting forces with.I'm guessing Alluha Akbar will be replacing Semper Fi as the battle motto soon.

"Remind me why we are there again?"

SSS

Go through about 3,000 of hedgeless_horseman's comment(s) that have a map with a line through it pointing out where China and Afghanistan are located and the "pipe" that ISN'T... thanks to the Zio-yank and the bitches in camo that keep it FROM HAPPENIN thanks to that pretext on September 11, 2001!

If the comment(s) that Putin made here (http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-06-09/putin-warns-hot-war-and-nuclea…) are correct given all of our misguided folly that has destroyed the Middle East completely, along with that Eastern European family member just West of Russia's border and bankrupted the U.S. economy in order to do it thanks to it's military continuing to follow illegal orders I'd say our time is rather short.

Cause when Syria, Iran and Russia kick the vagrants out of Deir-Ez-Zor and Raqqa for good we will more than likely witness a "Fourth of July" styled celebration courtesy of the Zio-bitch-in-Chief with moar Tommie(s) only with nuclear warheads.

You see these bitches hate to lose and the next pretext will be that Iranian and Russian military killed our "finest" in a Country they've been illegally bombing and occupying since 2011 which will make selling more uniforms with bodies still alive them exceedingly a "tough sell"!!!

Raqqa is a good bit of success and could have been a key anchor once controlled. But it is simply too late.

The US is moving from the east towards the west and has special forces on the ground. In just a few weeks time the landscape was changed when the US made it official that they have and will continue to declare de-conflict zones. These are US declared zones where any Syrian troops who do not vacate are attacked and bombed by the US air force. The void is filled with ISIS troops who have been through "training" and renamed coalition forces (good guys). This is the method they are taking Syria.

Putin has no response other than publicly calling this illegitimate/illegal. Places like Raqqa can become islands supplied by air maybe, but that means filling them with Russian troops, otherwise the Syrian forces will be attacked directly. There is no need for nukes from the US.

When Putin did not have the backbone to quickly declare a no-fly zone over Syria against US/NATO/Israeli planes the eventual outcome was clear. It now feels like they are ready to start preliminary actions against Iran, take Qatar and tie up Turkey's forces with the Kurds.

Because President Carter and his National Security Disaster, Zbig Brzezinski (a k a, Davy Rockefeller's boy), came up with a plan to destabilize the once-secular government of Afghanistan (and yes, there were working women back then who didn't dress up like they were going to a Halloween party) by moving Wahabist Islamic extremists (and all Wahabists are extremists) to the northern border between Afghanistan and the old Soviet Union, causing large amounts of dissension, unrest and turmoil.Next, Carter and Reagan funded the first version of the Taliban, then referred to as Mujahedeen, who executed any secularists in that country they could find, who had't managed to get away --- what we call a form of ethnic (as in civilized people) cleansing today! There is NO reason to be there. . .
