House Democrat Just Filed Articles Of Impeachment Against Trump

One month after Texas Democratic Rep. Al Green grandstanded on the floor "I do not do this for political purposes," a second Democrat has now formally introduced his own article of impeachment against Trump. California Rep Brad Sherman follows the same path as Green, accusing the president of obstructing justice during the federal investigation of Russia’s 2016 election interference.

As a reminder, Green’s criticisms in June focused on Trump’s firing of former FBI Director James Comey, who was leading the administration’s probe into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 elections.

The facts are simple and indisputable. The President fired the FBI Director because the director was investigating the President’s campaign connections to Russian interference in the Presidential Election,” Green said Tuesday evening in a statement.

“This is obstruction of justice.”

That’s actually not true. The facts suggest that Trump did nothing wrong.

Even Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi agreed that nobody has provided a smoking gun to justify an impeachment on the grounds of obstruction.  “The only thing that matters are the facts – the facts and the law.” And right now, there’s absolutely no evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians, or that Trump obstructed justice.

Green has rejected that argument, contending that Trump’s actions have already risen to a level demanding congressional intervention.

“This will remain obstruction of justice regardless of the findings of any investigation,” he said.

And now, as The Hill reports, Rep. Sherman argues that Trump’s abrupt firing of James Comey as FBI director in May amounts to obstructing justice amid the probes of whether Trump's campaign colluded with the Russian government to swing the election.

It cites Comey’s allegations that Trump pressured him to drop the FBI’s investigation into ousted former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn, as well as Trump’s shifting story on why he fired Comey.

White House officials initially pointed to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s memo criticizing Comey’s handling of the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server. But Trump later said in an NBC News interview that the Russia probe was on his mind when deciding to fire Comey.

“In all of this, Donald John Trump has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as president and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States. Wherefore, Donald John Trump, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office,” the article of impeachment states.

Sherman drew ire from fellow House Democrats last month when he began circulating a draft article of impeachment and suggested he might force a floor vote on it... But so far he has only one supporter on his article of impeachment - can you guess who? (Spoiler Alert: Rep. Al Green)

Sherman’s article is unlikely to succeed in the GOP-controlled House.

As this graphic from Statista shows, impeachment is a lengthy process and requires a simple majority from the House Judiciary Committee, the House of Representatives and a two-thirds majority of the Senate.

Still, we are sure The Democrats have the ability to wait this out for another three-and-a-half years, but for now impeachment odds at PredictIt remain low and flat at 10% in 2017.

I absolutely adore sitting in meetings, coffee, whatever and listening to the CA Prog "He's not my president" crap. The only time I've said anything (Because I get to watch a show for free!) I simply replied "Neither's Hillary".But how often and I mean this seriously, how often do you get to sit in the middle of Bedlam, in the madhouse it very self, the free man, to absorb as you might, the madness.  We're talking irrationality folks; madness. This is no longer sane.It might be fun.  If you think watching a coup d'etat in progress is fun.Take a deep breath, close your eyes and imagine this being said and done about Obama.  There would have been police ranks, truncheons a swinging. As Tom Wolfe (the elder) unfortunately once rightly said; "You can never go home again."

I live in a very conservative part of the country. Whenever I go a a city or state where the madness is practiced daily I just watch the show. This was particularly true in Chicago where they eat their own shit routinely, tell you it tastes great and try to tell you everything will be fine. They occasionally offered me a slice of the fecal pie and I cited health reasons for not partaking. When nothing surprises you anymore you can tolerate anything. And at the end of the day I get to go home where the insanity doesn't exist.

I am sure these attempts at impeachment will grow into Trump's presidency, like throwing shit at the Russian wall and hoping something sticks. On another matter, how would this read (given the name change) and having the opportunity to present it?:

“In all of this, Barack Hussein Obama has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as president and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States. Wherefore, Barack Hussein Obama, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office,” the article of impeachment states.

Impeachment will never make it out of committee (thats where shit goes to die without support) let alone through the House with the majority they have. And even if it did AND the Senate (somehow managed to impeach/remove Trump) you have...Pence...who is a helluva lot worse toward progs than Trump would ever be.What I'm trying to say here is, basically, you're fucked...LMMFAO!!! ;-)

If Trump is for real *which I have my doubts* he would do well to keep his promises of locking her up and draining the swamp. If he fails to act on this they will just keep coming with more and more and more...I grow tired of this charade form our representatives, this bullshit needs to stop, people are taking notice and are not happy with how our tax dollars are being spent while our country is failing at many things that need to be fixed.

I think his window has closed. He hasn't drained any swamp surrounding himself so he has saboteurs behind every blade of grass. HE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS INACTIVITY. He hasn't even fired Preibus. Epic fail on trumpHe continues to believe he can get people to cooperate and wants people to like him. Never going to happen. Epic fail on trump.Look, this is not 2 months in. They ( he and his family and actual decent people in his admin) fail to realize how much they are hated.  Look at the recent setup of Don Jr.I have said it before...this points to a deadly naiveté.  Can he survive? I am not sure because he has not taken proper interim steps to ensure he will.Obviously, we do not know what is going on behind the scenes, but if some people are not perp walked and fired this week, put a fork in him.Sorry, donald, you just are not MEAN ENOUGH.I wanted someone with more street savvy against assholes and traitors.

So, you contend that Trump's salvation will come from indicting Hillary and firing more democRATS, when they are already trying to impeach him for firing Comey, someone openly reviled by the progressives (until recently). You are as delusional as the left. Trump is trying to win, and for a pragmatist, regardless of rhetoric, is using everything. While it may not seem like it, the progressives are losing, but because they live within their own echo chamber of owned progressive media, simply don't realize it.People are sick of this shit, and elections will tell the tale. Of course they will claim even more "collusion" (maybe with Satan this time) to explain their loss. Aside from just being sore loser's, they just can't BELIEVE they really lost. After all, they are the smart ones.

While he has done a few really good things...nixing tpp and carbon emissions, he is not putting back in RULE OF LAW.This is so important because we are off the rails. We need a leader to show the country that the corruption will no longer be tolerated. Still waiting.Instead his pathetic tweets indicate she is beyond the law. He is the fucking law. It is up to him to ensure that indictments occur. He should take it upon himself to make sure this is done.

The majority of courts are rabid progressives as are almost all of the DC inhabitants. I would consider he choose his battles wisely. While his tweets may seem self defeating, what he is doing is keeping these corrupt assholes publicly displaying their corrupt bias. Let's see how many call Jr a traitor. People really aren't that stupid. The last thing he wants is an investigation working quietly in the background. He wants them loud, stupid and in everyone's face. Trump's only chance is in the people. Virtually everyone in DC is in the swamp, and the best ploy he has is to constantly be demonstrating it. The MSM with a camera constantly shoved in these deluded braindead assholes faces will do far more for Trump than a "fair trial" as we know that does not exist.

The reason it appears as a coup d'etat is because they are throwing the kitchen sink and need to keep the administration distracted so they don't have time to compile all the evidence that is being collected against them. It will pass over with nothing sticking and kaboom, here come da judge. If they pursue the pedo networks, all hell will break loose.I wonder what Green was promised and given for filing these articles

Tweeting buffoon, Agent Orange Don is a fucking joke instead of a US President. After a half year in the office, he has accomplished nothing. This fucktard is watching CNN, MSNBC, etc., and waging a Tweeter war against them instead of doing something useful.By the way,  after losing the next year election, Trump, if he survives, will face all Democratic US Congress and a long term in a jail.

Exactly! Brazil's President Dilma Rousseff was also impeached last year, just on the basis of unproven accusations. So, since the US is fast crumbling toward the level of a third world country (Wall Street and other centres of power remaining like islands of colonial power with the rest of the US as their colonial hinterland), the same could happen in Washington as well.
