Is Sweden A Failed State?

Authored by Judith Bergamn via The Gatestone Institute,

  • The Swedish state, in true Orwellian style, fights those Swedish citizens who point out the obvious problems that migrants are causing.
  • When police officer Peter Springare said in February that migrants were committing a disproportionate amount of crime in the suburbs, he was investigated for inciting "racial hatred".
  • Currently, a 70-year-old Swedish pensioner is being prosecuted for "hate speech", for writing on Facebook that migrants "set fire to cars, and urinate and defecate on the streets".

The security situation in Sweden is now so critical that the national police chief, Dan Eliasson, has asked the public for help; the police are unable to solve the problems on their own. In June, the Swedish police released a new report, "Utsatta områden 2017", ("Vulnerable Areas 2017", commonly known as "no-go zones" or lawless areas). It shows that the 55 no-go zones of a year ago are now 61.

In September 2016, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven and Minister of Interior Anders Ygeman refused to see the warnings: in 2015, only 14% of all crimes in Sweden were solved, and in 2016, 80% of police officers were allegedly considering quitting the force. Both ministers refused to call it a crisis. According to Anders Ygeman:

"... we are in a very difficult position, but crisis is something completely different. ...we are in a very strained position and this is because we have done the biggest reorganization since the 1960s, while we have these very difficult external factors with the highest refugee reception since the Second World War. We have border controls for the first time in 20 years, and an increased terrorist threat".

A year later the Swedish national police chief is calling the situation "acute".

Sweden increasingly resembles a failed state: In the 61 "no-go zones", there are 200 criminal networks with an estimated 5,000 criminals who are members. Twenty-three of those no-go zones are especially critical: children as young as 10 years old are involved in serious crimes there, including weapons and drugs, and are literally being trained to become hardened criminals.

The trouble, however, extends beyond organized crime. In June, Swedish police in the city of Trollhättan, during a riot in the Kronogården suburb, were attacked by approximately a hundred masked migrant youths, mainly Somalis. The rioting continued for two nights.

Violent riots, however, are just part of Sweden's security problems. In 2010, according to the government, there were "only" 200 radical Islamists in Sweden. In June, the head of the Swedish Security Service (Säpo), Anders Thornberg, told the Swedish media that the country is experiencing a "historical" challenge in having to deal with thousands of "radical Islamists in Sweden". The jihadists and jihadist supporters are mainly concentrated in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö and Örebro, according to Säpo. "This is the 'new normal' ... It is an historic challenge that extremist circles are growing," Thornberg said.

The Swedish establishment has only itself to blame for it.

Thornberg said that Säpo now receives around 6,000 intelligence tips a month concerning terrorism and extremism, compared to an average of 2,000 a month in 2012.

Some of the reasons for the increase, according to terror expert Magnus Ranstorp of the Swedish Defense University, is due to segregation in Sweden's no-go zones:

"... it has been easy for extremists to recruit undisturbed in those areas. ...the prevention measures have been pretty tame... if you compare Denmark and Sweden, Denmark is at university level and Sweden at kindergarten level".

Asked what the increase in people supporting extremist ideologies indicated about Sweden's work to combat radicalism, Interior Minister Anders Ygeman told the Swedish news outlet TT:

"I think it says little. This is a development we have seen in a number of countries in Europe. On the other hand, it shows that it was right to take those measures we have. A permanent centre against violent extremism, that we have increased the budget to work against violent extremism, that we have increased the security police's budget for three years."

There may be even more jihadists than Säpo thinks. In 2015, at the height of the migrant crisis, when Sweden received over 160,000 migrants, 14,000 of them who were told that they were going to be deported disappeared inside Sweden without a trace. As late as April 2017, Sweden was still looking for 10,000 of them. Sweden, however, has only 200 border police staff at its disposal to look for them. One "disappeared migrant" was Rakhmat Akilov, from Uzbekistan. He drove a truck into a department store in Stockholm, killing four people and wounding many others. He later said he did it for the Islamic State (ISIS).

Meanwhile, Sweden continues to receive returning ISIS fighters from Syria, a courtesy that hardly improves the security situation. Sweden, so far, has received 150 returning ISIS fighters. There are still 112 who remain abroad -- considered the most hardcore of all -- and Sweden expects many of those to return as well. Astonishingly, the Swedish government has given several of the ISIS returnees protected identities to prevent local Swedes from finding out who they are. Two Swedish ISIS fighters who returned to Europe, Osama Krayem and Mohamed Belkaid, went on to help commit the terror attacks at Brussels airport and the Maelbeek metro station in the center of Brussels, on March 22, 2016. Thirty-one people were killed; 300 were wounded.

Swedish news outlets have reported that the Swedish towns that receive the returnees do not even know they are returning ISIS fighters. One coordinator of the work against violent Islamist extremism in Stockholm, Christina Kiernan, says that " the moment there is no control over those returning from ISIS-controlled areas in the Middle East".

Kiernan explains that there are rules that prevent the passing of information about returning jihadists from Säpo to the local municipalities, so that the people who are in charge in the municipal authorities, including the police, have no information about who and how many returned ISIS fighters there are in their area. It is therefore impossible to monitor them -- and this at a time when Säpo estimates the number of violent Islamist extremists in Sweden in the thousands.

Even after all this, the Swedish state, in true Orwellian style, fights those Swedish citizens who point out the obvious problems that migrants are causing. When police officer Peter Springare said in February that migrants were committing a disproportionate amount of crime in the suburbs, he was investigated for inciting "racial hatred".

Currently, a 70-year-old Swedish pensioner is being prosecuted for "hate speech", for writing on Facebook that migrants "set fire to cars, and urinate and defecate on the streets".

With thousands of jihadists all over Sweden, what could be more important than prosecuting a Swedish pensioner for writing on Facebook?

Sweden is one of the richest countries in the world (richer than US in relation to GNP pr. capital). It is ranked as nr. 2 by OECD on "most competitive country" (based on the educational level of its inhabitants, number of patents, innovation, number of new entrepreneurs and growth in export). Social mobility ("The American Dream") is higher in Sweden than any other country (US is down somewhere with Somalia and other vulgarr-capitalist countries, Sweden is a capitalist country too = having an economic system based on primarily private ownership over the means of production. But the pebs of Sweden have just gotten a better deal/the welfare state).

But, yes, in Sweden they're trying to help as many as possible of the victims of the evil Empires wars of aggression (the prime war crime - you know, the crimes of your country?). US Inc. created the crisis - Sweden does the humane thing and are therefore bombarded with right-wing propaganda-nonsense (like the piece above). Otherwise people migh start see "the other" as human beings and not wanting to bomb them all the time...

Plus, you are lying. Such a report about Swedens economic trajectory does not exist.

Sweden is a country I visit a lot - beautiful, intelligent and good people. And some of the most free people I've ever met. Free in a concrete sense: have a lot of time to their kids, their older and each other in general. I understand why US-tards hate them. Kind of hypocritical - you hate them for their freedom...

"Sweden increasingly resembles a failed state: In the 61 "no-go zones", there are 200 criminal networks with an estimated 5,000 criminals who are members."

And that's supposed to be a big deal? In the U.S. we've got over 2,000,000 criminals in prisons, and many millions more still out on the streets. In fact, there are over 33,000 street gangs in the U.S. How does that compare to Sweden's 200?

As far a "no go" zones, try walking the street of places like Camden, NJ or the south side of Chicago.

Gatestone is nothing more than the propaganda arm of the Likud Party. Nothing is worse than listening to neocon war mongers, who can't send enough Americans to their deaths in Middle East wars.

The only way Sweden can recover is1) the men have to start protecting their own women, girls, boys, elderly, and disabled2) that means they have to punch back hard and leave a mark3) that also means that they will be labeled meanies and rayciss, but they will have to accept that if they are to protect their women, etc.4) that is the trade off5) they have to be willing to sit a while in jail, but after a while even the most brainwashed snowflake will notice that the jails will be filling up with otherwise law abiding citizens6) less than that Swedish men may as well start taking estrogen and stand on line with their women, etc., to be molested by savages.

Not me, dude, I hate Sweden because, at the request of Obama the Blackguard, they laid a honeytrap for Julian Assange.  And when the original prosecutor said that there was insufficientto arrest him, PM Fredrik Reinfeldt appointed Marianne NY to be  the Chief Prosecutor, whoimmediately went after Assange tooth and nail.  Assange made it to London and has been in the Ecuadorian Embassy for over 5 years.  Theheinous Swedes delayed interviewing him in London until the recent election for President ofEcuador.  One candidate said he would oust Assange, while the other would let him stay. After Lenin Moreno, the candidate would would let Assange stay, won Swedish prosecutorsshowed up in London, interviewed Assange and dropped their request for England to extraditehim.  Now he is wanted by England for jumping bail.  If he is arrested outside the EcuadorianEmbassy, England will gladly extradite him to America. The Swedes are the worst lickspittles on the planet and deserve whatever crap the refugeesare inflicting on them.

this is why you are an idiot. There is a UN report confirming Sweden will be redesignated a 3rd world country in 2030 - thats little over a decade away. And sure there will still be little shiny globalist 1st world enclaves within Sweden from which you can do your media propaganda from. But its a 3rd world country. Well thats one way to resolve your 1st world guilt / privelege complex, isnt it?See, its certainly admirable to reach into the pit of despair to pull out an unfortunate soul or two. But if you are overzealous, or incautious, and a dozen hands grab yours and PULL YOU INTO THE PIT then you are a fool. And Sweden has bough calamity upon itself - not by compassion or tolerance - but by the VANITY of so desperately trying to appear so.

Elites think that they can pass the world through a crucible and FINALLY get their long sought-after nanny state utopia. That demands that the TPTB have a rigid social order to enslave what's left of the masses in the post-reset, post war time. What better way to prepare for that time than to have spread Muslims throughout the west when the iron fist of Sharia (renamed of course) comes down? I wonder if that is how they may begin their reign of malaise and central control, a new Dark Age for mankind. Put another way, I suspect that the globalist elites of today admire Islam for some of the same reasons Emperor Constantine admired early Christianity. What a mistake this would be...

Yeah... "refugees", another term that has been hollowed out by double speak. Most of those muppets are not refugees. Most of them are liars. Parasiting on the welfare state while they openly display their hatred for their host. But as I told Ghordious, I will tell you. If you don't look at it, it's not there... Right? Besides these guys will soon get pretty well along with the younger generations that were born in Europe as they get more radical. And that "welfare state" as you (again, that's not how it started but muppets like you that can't handle reality) speak about, called a social net, is not for parasites. It's a fund which the taxpayers paid for to have acces to in case they get into the trouble. Not to hand out to fucking nobodies. So the social net turned into the welfare state. Unsustainable. Has a direct impact on work moral. Why work when others do nothing? Why don't we just all sit at home. These guys get everything for free and no gratitude. But hey, pointing that out is hate speech.Again here people like you created another problem that will bite you in the ass. But hey. Responsibility is not in your backward dictionary. Blame it on the far right. Blame it on the evil empire. Please, don't let the lack of knowledge stop you from spouting dumb shit. It's called downplaying what you do. All to not have to accept reality that your little idealistic ideology failed.

I rather call it lack of knowledge. Sweden....Meh. Finland? Tried that? Guess not. Even for average Europeans they are a mystery. This is EU bullshit. Like we all are alike! No we are not. And we don't need no damn EU to undermine our cultures and national identities. (Hard to grasp for you)Perhaps because as a teen I toured Europe, (Not the EU, as they are not Europe). Met many cultures and national identities. Maybe that's why I get it. For what's it's worth. Been to the US as well. Mostly peeps been nice to me. Tried to show me the American identity and culture. And I'm grateful  for that. It's a shocking thing when I as European enter US space. I integrate very easily. Sweden? A story of it's own. Gubbies and peeps.Female intuition? Yeah, I met peepz like you. Either you want to play me or need something from me. You don't get to talk. Especially when it's based on "fweelings" . Fuck off.

I agree - Sweden is owned by banks/capitalists like all capitalist countries and the strategies of financialization of the economy (neoliberalism - or Ponzi-economics) are pursued by the capitalists/owners of Sweden too...

But that have nothing with refugees to do - apart from the refugees being used as smoke and mirrors to keep people from looking upwards to find their oppressors...

Free markets are not defining of capitalism. You can have free market socialism (look it up) and you did have free markets under some feudal states (the free masons originated in feudal society).

Ownership/property regimes are defining: is the economy based on private property, social, public and/or common property rights? Sweden is based on the former (predominantly).

Free markets and capitalism co-exist. The less you have of one, the less you will have of the other. Both always exists, even if only in a limited fashion, because the human spirit will always create.

The question is : to what extents is the creator/producer valued in society? Is society set up to steal work, or reward work?

Free market socialism is a contradiction in terms. Socialism means a group has decided that they get to take from producers and give to others. It can sound nice in theory. In practice, over time, the producers get tired and stop producing as much.

Free men make a better society than slaves.

You are lying (or just stupid). The report you link to says nothing about Sweden being "on the trajectory of becoming a third world nation". Plus it is from 2010 - long before "the refugee crisis" (the subject of the Gatestone propaganda piece).

Over and out (am on my way to Bornholm - a part of Denmark where you have to drive through Sweden to get to. Hope I will survive the trip /s).

Hate them?  I pity them.  I cringe at what the good people have to tolerate at the hands of Globalists and SJW filth like YOU.  The Swedish people aren't doing this - they aren't prosecuting the patriotic Swedes (the people who love their country and culture) - complete scum-of-the-Earth like YOU are.  I want to see Sweden stay SWEDEN.This is the Kalergi Plan running real-time. The only people who HATE the Swedes are people like you - who demand that they take in people who hate their culture and are there not to integrate and embrace Swedish culture, or to be grateful to the Swedish people for taking them in, but who want to destroy Sweden, it's culture, and it's people.

The justice system is totally broken. Rapeugees are not prosecuted for anything. A rapeugee destroyed my car trying to break into it. We got the whole thing on video, and the police caught him red-handed the next day in the same garage. He was arrested, but the DA refused to prosecute. That is only my personal anecdotal case. Of course there are cases of them gang raping ladies in wheelchairs, and they also go free.
