FBI General Counsel Reportedly Under Investigation For Leaks To Mainstream Media

Authored by Sara Carter via Circa.com,

FBI General Counsel James A. Baker is purportedly under a Department of Justice criminal investigation for allegedly leaking classified national security information to the media, according to multiple government officials close to the probe who spoke with Circa on the condition of anonymity.

This comes as Department of Justice Attorney General Jeff Sessions said he would soon be making an announcement regarding the progress of leak investigations. A DOJ official declined to comment on Circa’s inquiry into Baker but did say, the planned announcement by Sessions is part of the overall "stepped up efforts on leak investigations."

Three sources, with knowledge of the investigation, told Circa that Baker is the top suspect in an ongoing leak investigation, but Circa has not been able to confirm the details of what national security information or material was allegedly leaked.

A federal law enforcement official with knowledge of ongoing internal investigations in the bureau told Circa, "the bureau is scouring for leakers and there's been a lot of investigations."

The revelation comes as the Trump administration has ramped up efforts to contain leaks both within the White House and within its own national security apparatus.

Baker is a close confidant of former FBI Director James Comey, and recent media reports suggested he was reportedly advising the then-FBI director on legal matters following private meetings the former director had in February with President Trump in the Oval Office.

Baker was appointed to the FBI's general counsel by Comey in 2014 and has had a long and distinguished history within the intelligence community.

After working as a federal prosecutor in the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice during the 1990s, he joined the Office of Intelligence Policy and Review In 1996, according to his FBI bio. (https://archives.fbi.gov/archives/news/pressrel/press-releases/james-a.-baker-appointed-as-fbis-general-counsel).

In 2006 Baker received the George H.W. Bush Award for Excellence in counter-terrorism—the CIA’s highest counter-terrorism award, according to his biography. During Baker's long and distinguished career he received the "NSA’s Intelligence Under Law Award; the NSA Director’s Distinguished Service Medal; and DOJ’s highest award— the Edmund J. Randolph Award."

He is a fellow at the Institute of Politics at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a lecturer at Harvard Law School.

FBI spokeswoman Carol Cratty said the bureau would not comment on Baker and would not confirm or deny any investigation.

Is this the same james baker that hung out with mike pence at the super bowl?  I am now over my pity of trump.  He has surrounded himself with traitors and ostracized his true base.  He gets whats coming to him.  He really needs to get rid of everyone but maybe bannon and replace with christians.  My humble opinion.  His daughter and son in law should be on the first ship to israel and never be allowed back

Contradiction. Yes, he's surrounded himself with traitors and uncouth mobsters. BUT, he has no comprehension of Christianity or any ideaology at all, so how would putting all Christians there change anything? He can't even take the time to study an individual's history before giving someone an insider position that ultimately causes HIM to be a traitor..i.e. his own daughter and son-in-law!He is as pathetic a narcissist as Obama, but worse in that he has no self-discipline, nor a well-oiled machine working away in the back room as Obama had/has, and, most importantly, he has NO ideological compass nor even a basic grasp of the Constitution. He is a shoot-from-the-hip manipulator that hasn't yet fully understood that you can't run Washington the way he can run his businesses (by paying people to strongarm everyone else until he gets what he wants).I voted against Hillary Clinton, but have never been a Trump supporter. I knew this was exactly how it was going to play out. Every day that this fool remains president, he turns what few friends he had in Congress and Washington to the deep blue state. Not only did I vote against Hillary Clinton, I voted FOR Mike Pence. It may not be long.

Gawd - if you are gonna go all fucking rabid attack dog, at least do it with gusto, and je ne sais qua. That post had all the excitement of heating up used bath water, and calling it soup because you put a bit of pepper on top. Go suck on a  snowflakes ass for air until you are inspired to vapidity again, please.

FBI General Counsel Reportedly Under Investigation For Leaks To Mainstream MediaMy response: Another OBAMA HOLDOVER!!! My advice: President TRUMP needs to assign his staff the following tasks:1, Review personnel records looking for OBAMA appointments/approved hires. Also review empoyee assessments.2. Meet with these people and determine whether or not they are patriots willing to uphold the US Constitution and obey US LAWS.3. If the answer to #2 is no, then give them the boot.4. Hire replacements who are qualified and willing to obey US Constitution and US Laws. (Preference is for non-muslims)

And W tried and got raked for it. The problem was, is and apparently always will be that the wimpy Republicans just can't find the cahones to stand up and speak out. They don't have to be crass and profane like Trump and his minions. They only need to be TRUTHFUL and plainspoken, telling the people how it is.
