As a Houstonian...and a curious observer of the crazy development over the past 10 years here...My opinion...Columbia Lakes NEVER should have been developed.  However much money they spent on a levee...they should have spent 3x that much.  And I'm not armchair quarterbacking.  The developers KNOW that and the FED will still willingly back all these mortgages and the Federal Government is backing all the private insurers who also KNOW their risk is too great in these areas....Private Insurers would NEVER insure these homes without .gov back stopping them.  It IS the MORAL HAZARD GONE WILD.The same is true of Siena Plantation and a dozen other hoods being highlighted on national TV.

Yeah, well, zoning and land-use management are Socialist. But bailing everybody out with taxpayer money is apparently not.Of course all the developers and the Finance types know they're going to get bailed out.  They know that from the jump.  That's why they make sure there's no coherent land use policy and no restrictions on their doing whatever the hell they want to do.  They make money on the front end, and they already know they can't lose money because they stacked the back end of the deck, too.Freedom!

"The problem with "getting out now" is that all the fucking evacuation routes are already underwater. They needed to "get out" a fucking week ago." What a perfect metaphor for bitcoin holders. Get out now, pay your taxes, call it a win.
