Trump Slams "Disgraceful Verdict" After San Francisco Jury Acquits "Kate's Law"-Victim's Killer

Update 2: Just as we suspected, President Trump has tweeted his opinion on this decision...

Update 1: AP reports that U.S. immigration officials say they will deport the Mexican man found not guilty of murder in San Francisco pier shooting.

*  *  *

As we detailed earlier, in a verdict that has shocked many in the Bay Area (and across America), a jury of six men and six women in sanctuary city San Francisco found illegal immigrant (and five-time deportee) Jose Ines Garcia Zarate not guilty in the death of Kate Steinle.

Mr. Garcia Zarate had been homeless at the time of the shooting and had multiple felony convictions and five prior deportations to Mexico. He had been set free from jail only months before the shooting, in defiance of requests by federal immigration authorities, who had asked that he be held longer so he could be deported again.

The backlash to his release into the community crescendoed when Donald Trump invoked Ms. Steinle’s killing as he campaigned for president.

As The New York Times reports, Ms. Steinle’s death in July 2015 fed into a fierce debate over whether immigrants without legal status should be deported more aggressively, and over the role local law enforcement should play.

Ms. Steinle, known as Kate, a 32-year-old medical equipment saleswoman, was walking along Pier 14 in San Francisco when she was struck by a bullet and collapsed into her father’s arms.

Mr. Garcia Zarate acknowledged firing the weapon, but said it was an accident.

Zarate and his defense team maintained the argument that the suspect found the stolen weapon on the pier that day and it "just fired."

The gun belonged to a federal Bureau of Land Management ranger and was stolen from his parked car a week earlier.

The bullet ricocheted on the pier's concrete walkway before it struck Steinle, killing her. Zarate has admitted to shooting Steinle, but says it was an accident.

Defense attorney Matt Gonzalez said Garcia Zarate found the gun at the pier... but the stories of what happened copntradicted one another...

He said it was wrapped in cloth, and when Garcia Zarate unwrapped it, the gun accidentally discharged.

But in a police interrogation, Garcia Zarate admitted to firing the gun, saying he was aiming at a seal.

He also told police that he stepped on the gun, causing it to fire.

But still, after six days of deliberation, the illegal Mexcian immigrant was acquitted of murder and manslaughter charges and also found not guilty of assault with a firearm.

Garcia Zarate was found guilty of illegal firearms possession, which carries a sentence of 16 months to three years.

The public defender wasted no time in focusing his thoughts on President Trump and his administration...saying Zarate was "extremely relieved" by the outcome and that while Steinle's death "was a horrible tragedy," it was used as "political fodder for then candidate Donald Trump's anti-immigration agenda."

Adachi added, "Despite the unfairly politicized atmosphere surrounding this case, jurors focused on the evidence, which was clear and convincing, and rendered a just verdict."

In a response to the verdict, Attorney General Jeff Sessions released a statement saying that despite California's attempt at a murder conviction, Zarate was able to walk away with only a firearm possession conviction because he was not turned over by San Francisco to ICE.

"When jurisdictions choose to return criminal aliens to the streets rather than turning them over to federal immigration authorities, they put the public's safety at risk," the statement said.

"San Francisco's decision to protect criminal aliens led to the preventable and heartbreaking death of Kate Steinle."

Sessions continued, "I urge the leaders of the nation's communities to reflect on the outcome of this case and consider carefully the harm they are doing to their citizens by refusing to cooperate with federal law enforcement officers."

Social media erupted with outrage at the verdict (with very few - if any attempting to defend the verdict)...

And even politically-correct politicians piped in...

We suspect it will not be long before President Trump has something to say about this verdict.

If this had been my daughter, I could forsee a pile of at least 15 bodies in the near future:1. The illegal foreign national piece of shit that killed her;2. The asshole's shitweasel defense attorney;3-14. Every single one of the idiotic, piece of shit jurors that don't understand what the term manslaughter means (assuming it was unintentional, and giving the defendant every benefit of the doubt; he admitted to holding the weapon that killed the victim).15. The brain-dead judge for allowing the verdict to stand, which was arrived at contrary to all of the acknowledged facts of the case.

Not to defend the jury -- they are liberal morons who can barely think -- but some mention somewhere that said that a lot of the information was with held from them. That may or may not have been the case but even with the most minimal information they should have been able to convict this trashbag. Maybe Steinle's lawyers should have used bright crayons and smaller words when addressing the jury.Liberalism really is some kind of mental disorder.

the part that pisses me off is the lead to the story: the "authorities" intend to deport him.  what?  he's been deported five times or somesuch; clearly that doesn't work.  he's been convicted of a gun crime and faces hard time, not enough true but something.  get him in a real prison.  not guantanamo, which is an atrocity to the rule of law and a co-conspirator to the phony war on terror started by the mossad plot of 9-11 and needs to be shut down.

Liberalism/progressivism is just another suicide cult/religion much like Islam that tells it adherents that their ultimate achievement is to sacrifice to their "God"....and better still, sacrifice others, even their families and loved ones. They "gift" us by "saving" us. Their calling (like so many before them) is to bring us ever closer to their Utopian vision, no matter what, whom or how many lives it costs. They will build hospitals and bankrupt our society in an effort to provide "affordable" healthcare, while ensuring millions of lives are aborted and all unity and cohesion of society is destroyed with their open borders, refugee and illegal immigration multiculturalism. They will do ANYTHING to gain total control over everyone, their only means of IMPOSING their Utopian agenda. They must destroy society to reconstruct it to their theoretically perfect template. Breaking a "few" eggs to make a better omelette.

Will you refuse to support illegals economy. No lawn maintenance. No housing. No eating out. No commercially grown food?WE allowed this to happen, but we just can't refuse a good deal.I have watched this happen in real time, working in construction in Texas for forty years. We want to pretend our purchasing decisions bear no responsibility for the world we live in, but we MADE this....with plenty of help from government and big business who profit even more from it. We simply sold our souls cheaply and they provided the market.Illegals pour in because WE enable it financially. If we had refused to hire them or buy their production, very few would have come. Now they have amassed political power, able to earn a place at the trough of entitlement. They are forever with us now, and even with a wall, if we allow chain migration, anchor babies and unmonitored visas, we are ultimately FUCKED.  We will soon be outnumbered and democratic tyranny will rule.

it is easier to make changes through the private economic world than the public political one but getting at illegal immigration through purchases of goods particularly and services beyond those one employs oneself are pretty hard.  preventing employment of illegal aliens should be done by restricting employers, biggest first.  but this problem is a tough one to solve since, as you say, it is both a good and bad deal.unlike, say, the wars on drugs and terror which are bad and bad deals.

Just to clarify, if you find a gun and discharge it and kill someone, that’s ok?

This man has been deported 5 times. Speaks no English. Initially said he was trying to shoot a seal.

I’m guessing you’d be more outraged had he killed a seal than a pretty white girl.

Not the best moment to state the obvious but yeah...true.  We do worse to many nameless, faceless, innocent third world families.  But hey.  Keeps Lockheed, Boeing and et al prosperous.  And allows us to keep unemployment down as thousands of young are recruited.

As American citizens we do have responsibility for our government's actions but foreign policy is our weakest hand having little immediate ability to counter our government.Illegal immgration is a much simpler and direct responsibility of citizens as they have (or at least HAD) a choice as to if they hired them or purchased their production.....but we simply couldn't pass up the low, low prices. This one is OURS. These government sanctuary zones (soon to become "no go" zones) are the ultimate manefestation our our own poor choices. Not only that, yet another opportunity for progressives to use guilt for our "oppression" of these people FORCED to live in the shadows (even though they came here voluntarily and knowing what to expect) as a means of encouraging our submission. I.mean after all....they just want a better life, right?

you make good points but it is hard to know what is "their production".  in fact it's probably a mixed bag from one end of the spectrum to the other.  and the native born plumber you hire has a spanish speaker on the team.  do you really ask him for a green card etc.?  a little hard to imagine in reality.  as for foreign policy being our weakest hand, perhaps not.  the atrociousness of 9-11 and the resulting war on terror that puts the u.s. in the same league with the great monsters of history, killers of millions of innocents (or patriots defending their countries from invaders doing the work of the real zionist perps) gives some leverage.  no statute of limitations on murder and treason, unlike bank crimes.  no fucking ambiguity about which side is right once the facts of the matter are fully understood.bust 9-11 and change the world.….…

Yes we do. Do you realize this multiple Felon was also commiting another felony just possesing a firearm. Any death coming from that crime is treated as murder. Well, not unless the prosecution is in on the whole deal as well. This is something the California politicians have done many times. If they don't like the law or the will of the people, they just don't defend it. Time to leave my birthplace, oh I'm ashamed of what you have becoime.

Yup - not guilty verdict on the involuntary manslaughter charge seems odd. I am not making any judgements about the verdict per se as I a was not on the jury and didnt hear all of the evidence. I am just saying the guy deserves a fair trial whether he is a citizen or not. Some fool saying he no rights because he's not a ctiizen and should be treated like a terrorist - that's just lunacy.

you should give a shit.  people in the u.s. legal or illegal are governed by u.s. laws.  all that bushobama destruction of the rule of law to fight the israelis' global war on terror is a crime worse than the sum of all the crimes of these illegal immigrants.  not that they shouldn't be put in jail when guilty which this fool certainly sounds like he is.but the rule of law not men must be supreme or all is lost.  that's why busting 9-11 is so important.

This is a load of crap. It is the "rule of law" which is the problem. The rule of law is one of the most consistent pieces of brainwashing in human society.

It is the elimination of the rule of law which would one, promote personal responsibility, two, remove the protections of corporate, political and social criminals, and three, return power to the people.

There is no more criminal enterprise than government, especially big, powerful governments supported by the rule of law. All those killed by war machines are the direct result of law. Laws which give legitimacy to government, to the military and the leaders which pursue war.

Law creates the justice system used to benefit one group against all others. It creates prisons and the massive amounts of tax debt to support them.

The speaker of the assembly in california publicly stated half of his family make use of stolen SS# id's and other documents. NOT ONE SINGLE THING WAS DONE.

Law is the means used to enslave the population, nothing more and nothing less.

You call this success? I don't have to move to a third world shithole, I can move to Detroit , Chicago, Baltimore or Cleveland.

We imprison more people than the whole world together.

We kill more people through war than the whole world together.

Our police are barbarians, violating the so-called law they are sworn to uphold.

Our politicians rape the Constitution they swear to uphold.
The Judges protect the elites and the system tolerates the hillarys, obamas, bushes and every new world order tyrant.

I choose the rule of men, the elimination of government and the elimination of banking. Then, America will become the fulfillment of the desires of the people, all the people, without the filter of criminality practiced by the true elites.
