Feinstein Makes Startling Admission: "I Got Pressured" To Release Fusion Transcripts

Sen. Dianne Feinstein made a startling admission when asked why she released the Fusion GPS transcripts on Tuesday without first informing Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) ahead of time.

"I meant to tell him, and I didn't have a chance to tell him, and that concerns me," Feinstein told CNN Congressional correspondent Manu Raju, adding "I just got pressured, and I didn't do it." 

Which begs the question:

When asked to elaborate, Feinstein walked back her statement, saying "I wasn't pressured," without any further comment. Her office later said she misspoke and that she wasn't pressured to release the transcript. 

Senator Feinstein released transcripts of Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson's closed door testimony to the Senate Judiciary committee on Tuesday, infuriating Chairman Grassley. Simpson and fellow Fusion GPS co-founder Peter Fritsch penned an op-ed in the New York Times last week calling on congress to release the "full transcripts" of Simpson's testimony.

On Wednesday morning, President Trump tweeted "The fact that Sneaky Dianne Feinstein, who has on numerous occasions stated that collusion between Trump/Russia has not been found, would release testimony in such an underhanded and possibly illegal way, totally without authorization, is a disgrace." 

Feinstein hit back, saying "I didn't do anything illegal," adding "That transcript has become so abused that time has come for people to take a look at it."

Feinstein said in a statement, “The American people deserve the opportunity to see what he said and judge for themselves. The innuendo and misinformation circulating about the transcript are part of a deeply troubling effort to undermine the investigation into potential collusion and obstruction of justice.”

Trump later tweeted "The single greatest Witch Hunt in American history continues. There was no collusion, everybody including the Dems knows there was no collusion."

If in fact Senator Feinstein was pressured to release the transcripts, it begs several questions; who pressured her, why now - less than a week after Fusion's NYT op-ed calling for the release, and why couldn't she pick up the phone and let Grassley know?

I would think that the release of witness testimony from an ongoing investigation when other witnesses have yet to appear is obstruction of justice and not the other way around.

The single best thing Trump has done since in office is to call out these incompetent, corrupt assholes, rather than just gloss over things-  he is EXACTLY what this government needs right now-  an enema.

Ok maybe she was pressured and maybe she still is. If that's the case WTF is going on in our government, time for the military to step the F up and clean house in many levels, time for the treasurer to seize assets and arrest need to happen otherwise everyone says F'it and it all goes to complete hell. The phycos are about to knock the board over. Things can start getting serious quick.

If Fienstien announces she is retiring soon somethings up.

obama walked in the footsteps of the gw bush/cheney administration. obama wouldn't have had the courage or imagination to invade abroad and dictate at home without their trailblazing, imo. they are both despicable and deserve life in prison with copious public confession.

It's pretty well known in California that Blum has profited tremendously from inside deals with FedGov, and not just on war mongering shit.  I believe he got a sweetheart deal to coordinate the sale of some old decommissioned post offices.  I'm sure it was all legitimate though.  I'm sure FedGov doesn't direct contract to friends.

But to your point, Californians on the coast and in Sacramento will vote for anything with a D behind the name.  It also doesn't help that the Republicans typically put up candidates who try to run exclusively on social issues.  If the R's put up someone who was moderate on social issues, but hard-assed on fiscal issues, they could take the seat or at least make a damn good run at it and fore the D's to expend more capital trying to keep the seat and open up possibilities elsewhere.

This deck has been stacked for a very long time. The DNC Jerry-mandered districts cast a very long shadow. Issa's district along with a few more are the only ones allowed to "elect" outside the chosens, thereby assuring minority status wherever agenda setting, appropriations and accountability may reflect the actual "will of the people".

One must be rooted deep to overcome this casino's odds.

I say, Good Luck to the worthless scum in Sack-rah-men-toe.  All these dickheads and dickettes do, is find some new way to regulate, or subjugate anything that moves, breathes or exists.

I was on Summit Racing, looking for a carb, specifically a Holley 750, double pumper, with mechanical secondaries and no choke, but there's a note at the bottom.  The salespeep told me, that it's mandatory that you answer a series of questions from the CARB or California Air Resource Board, as to what you're going to put it in, your personal info, name address and then, they send the form BACK to those soulless fucking pieces of shit, so they can come around later on, to confiscate your outlawed car, by decree.

Well, they can just go fuck off and die.  Final note, the CHP is going to be doing car searches at the agricultural stop on I-15 West from Las Vegas for illegal ammo, purchased out of state.

I was told this, by two young clerks at a popular gun outlet that just opened up in my neighborhood.  They had a letter in their possession, from the main office, detailing the illegal sales of Ammo here in Cali and what the State was going to do about it.  I didn't get to see the letter, they just provided the info, after I told them, that a lot of peeps, were going to be bringing in ammo from out of State...

Term limits would do one thing: turn "Chief of Staff" from a position appointed by the office holder, to one that persists throughout several politicians...and becomes the de facto power wielder of the seat. You think pols are figureheads NOW? Wait until the COS and all senior staff for that office become employees of the OFFICE, not the office holder.

Unless a term limits bill/amendment expressly forbids senior staff from serving under more than one federal office holder, all it will do is push the real seat of power a step backwards, to the unelected and therefore totally unaccountable bureaucrats.
