A Democrat running for Illinois attorney general was robbed at gunpoint Thursday afternoon during a promotional photo shoot for his campaign.

Aaron Goldstein, 42, and four men associated with the photo shoot were approached by three suspects between 20 and 24 years old in broad daylight, when one of them produced a gun. The men robbed Goldstein and the others of camera equipment and their cellular phones before running off, said law enforcement.

Police did not release a detailed description of the suspects for some undisclosed reason.

Campaign manager Robert Murphy, who was not with the team during the incident, said Goldstein, Democratic ward committeeman for the 33rd Ward and a resident of Albany Park, was taking promotional images for the campaign with an “in-the-neighborhood kind of” message.

Goldstein and the others weren’t harmed in the robbery, and they were later assured by police that the robbery wasn’t a targeted act, Murphy said.

“So, as far as the campaign, we are moving forward,” Murphy said. “Basically, this was a totally a random act of violence in the community. But when it happens to you, of course, you’re shooken up.

“He says he’s fine, and he was concerned about everyone else instead of how he is – but that’s just how he is.”

Goldstein, a 33rd Ward Democratic committeeman and supervising attorney at the Cook County Public Defender's Office, is one of eight candidates running in the Democratic primary for Illinois attorney general.

Goldstein thanked people for their concern, and said his team and he are "all good."

Goldstein is lucky he wasn't yet another victim of Chicago's horrendous murder rate

Re-posting this someone wrote on here a few years ago. I usually text message it out to people every year on MLK day.

Today we are given a wonderful opportunity to pause for a moment and give thanks for the great contributions of the Black community to our society. Their peaceful and generous nature makes them ideal neighbors, lending testimony to their exceptional family values and parenting skills unrivaled by many other cultures.

Their commitment to academic excellence enriches our schools and serves as an example to all who hope to achieve prominence as a people. Real estate values are fueled by the mix of African Americans into an area due to their caring and respectful nature of these communities, an example of all they have achieved through their enthusiasm for self-improvement by hard work and a self-reliant can-do nature. Without their industrious and creative drive, we would be poorer as a nation.

In Harlem, I encounter the now familiar subway scene of some woman abusing her boy. This is a young woman, probably 25, her son is about 8 or 10; she had him young. I’m not sitting close enough to hear what transpires, except mother's screaming at him with a look of pure hatred on her face. I look at the boy as mother walks away from him and goes to sit at the other end of the car. It's the same look I see in other neighborhood children in similar situations. How to describe it? It's not defiant, but it is not fearful of the adult. Rather there is disrespect, an understanding that the adult is not to be counted on. These children have lost their childhood. There is no safe, protective environment to nurture them. They are small adults navigating in a treacherous world.

Children need a father and mother, if not a set of grandparents and uncles and aunts. It takes a village to raise a child. Single-mother families are a huge emotional burden on all its members. Women cannot stand the strain of a teenage son alone. At least a figurehead of a male is needed. That is how we are wired, no matter however much we pretend "Gender roles are taught." NO they are not. They are hard-wired into you. I had seen too many real-life incidents where a man is a man and a woman is a woman, and both are needed to raise kids.

no description means they are following San Francisco's policy.

let the description disappear whilst they get away.

San Francisco TV station crews have been robbed and assaulted a dozen times in the last years reportin during daylight hours in "safe" areas.

too bad it's too warm for the Snowflake Team to appear and defend them.

what happened to Chicago? surely it's cold enough for the snowflakes to showup to defeat the baddies?

yep.  we used to use the analogy of a card game here in the zerolounge - as if you came to a game of cards and looked at the players and did NOT recognize a "MARK" -= then you are IT.

this is HOW it is now in CommiForNiA - take a walk in a suppoedly safe park and "Voila!" - you a "white supremacista" are now the TARGET.

Oh, sorry - no one informed you of the new game?

better wise up.  at least carry a well handled sharpy 4" or more with you at all times.  and make sure your girlfriend is well accustomed to it as well.

thanks Dimtards.

and all Repuglicants who went along with the shithole scam.

Your Chinese friend is not a libtard. Siding with BLM is an opportunistic way of getting ahead of whitey at work. Most Asians in California on the BLM bandwagon because it allows them to freely express their hatred of whites. Then he goes to work and calls boss a racist white and boom, he’s promoted. That’s not liberalism. He’s opportunistic and he’s not your friend.
