Ghouta Is An Aleppo Redux To Save "Assad Must Go"

Authored by Tom Luongo,

It’s clear that U.S. policy in Syria is to make life as miserable as possible for both Russia and the Syrian people.  Syria is of such strategic importance to our foreign policy goals of encirclement that no matter the facts on the ground or the growing distaste for war abroad at home, U.S. foreign policy architects are on auto-pilot.

This morning Alexander Mercouris returns to The Duran with a wonderful piece comparing the current situation in Eastern Ghouta with that of Aleppo in 2016.  It is seriously worth every moment of your time to read.

Mercouris points out what should be obvious to everyone watching this conflict that the ISIS/Al-Qaeda groups holed up in Eastern Ghouta, a suburb of Damascus, represents the end of the “Assad Must Go” policy of the U.S.  If these guys are defeated then it begs the question of what happens next.

The short answer is that just as the destruction in 2016 of the Jihadi enclave in eastern Aleppo showed to the Western ‘democracy promotion’ lobby that their regime change war in Syria could not be won, so the destruction of the Jihadi enclave in east Ghouta near Damascus today would show to the Western ‘democracy promotion’ lobby that their regime change war in Syria is irretrievably lost.

The remaining Jihadi controlled territories in Syria would be reduced to a few fringe areas in remote and impoverished regions of Syria: places like Idlib province in Syria’s northwest, the ISIS holdout areas east of the Euphrates, and the small belt of territory near the increasingly lonely US base close to the Jordanian border at Al-Tanf.

He’s absolutely right about this.  And this is why we keep seeing reports of Israeli attacks in and around Damascus, to weaken the SAA’s logistical support system as well as attacks near Deir Ezzor to keep their attention split.

It doesn’t help that Turkish president Erdogan is overplaying his hand at Afrin, forcing the Syrian government to move troops in there to protect the Kurdish enclave from being wiped out.

The SAA is still fighting a four-front war.  And the U.S. strategy has been to keep the number of fronts from collapsing for as long as possible.  This draws out the conflict in the hope that the Syrian people will tire of war to the point of telling Assad to just give up.

Yeah, that’s as crazy as it sounded typing it out.

But, put nothing past the neocon warhawks that inhabit U.S. foreign policy circles.

Russia’s Response

The response from Russia has been to harden Syria’s defenses and upgrade its air superiority position.  S-400’s to Khmeimim. SU-57s in theatre.

Russia is also working the diplomatic channels hard.  And it should be noted that there has been zero response from Israel after the shooting down of one of its F-16i’s earlier this month.

It seems the phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu made the Russian position very clear.  So did Lebanon’s invitation for Russian warships at its ports.

Because, at this point, it is hard for anyone to believe that Israeli bombing missions in Syria are still targeting only Iranian supply convoys for deployment into Lebanon.  The timing and coincidence of these attacks are far more strategically aligned with weakening the SAA.

And I think Putin called Netanyahu out on this.

The Trump Factor

He, like Saudi crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, made the mistake of over-estimating President’s Trump’s pledge of support.  Bin Salman took Trump’s initial visit last May as a green light to strike out at Qatar and destabilize the entire Arabian peninsula.

I feel Netanyahu similarly misinterpreted Trump’s announcement of moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem as a green light to go on the offensive against Israel’s enemies.

After that announcement the frequency and severity of Israeli air strikes in Syria intensified to a provocative level.  And I think it became obvious to Putin that a message needed to be sent to Netanyahu.

Both of Trump’s pledges of near-unconditional support of Saudi Arabia and Israel are the foundation for a greater Middle-East peace plan.  And I believe Putin understands what Trump is doing in this regard.

Israel will never sign off on a peace treaty without staunch U.S. support.  It hasn’t had that for two generations until Trump.  Saudi Arabia won’t stand down in its proxy war with Shiite-dominated Iran without a similar guarantee.

Both countries rightly feel they are under existential threat, hence their desire to atomize Syria and blunt any Iranian aspirations.

On the other side Putin has to convince everyone that he can keep Iran under control.  This is why, as The Saker points out, that Russia will only go so far in defending Syria, even if it looks inexplicable to the casual observer.

Trump’s speech at CPAC this weekend was a warning shot to his generals and the neocons.  His framing our presence in Syria and Afghanistan as nothing more than ISIS-eradication operations explicitly contradicts statements by both his Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson and his Secretary of Defense James Mattis.

Both of these men recently made policy statements about our goals in Syria being far bigger than just eliminating ISIS.  This was the first time Trump spoke forcefully on this subject in nearly six months.

He’s done allowing them carte blanche to create havoc in the Middle East.  He used the audience at CPAC (and a 93% straw poll approval) to declare an end to their deal to leave foreign policy to the generals and, by extension, the neocons while he focuses on domestic issues.

I outlined this ‘deal’ back in August and the reasons why it had to occur.  It marked a major change in the Trump presidency.

You give up on foreign policy and we’ll finally stop fighting you on domestic issues that we all know need to be dealt with as soon as possible.

All of a sudden, tax reform is back on the menu. Disaster relief funds for Houston will be approved. Obamacare repeal will be reintroduced after the debt ceiling theatre-of-the-irrelevant is settled.

The border wall will, however, remain tabled in perpetuity.

Trump has pretty much won every domestic policy battle over the past six months.   And as we approach the meat of the mid-term campaign season, Trump has kicked it off with a gentle reminder that all deals have a lifespan.

Ghouta is the War

When the SAA is successful in wiping out ISIS/Al-Qaeda forces holed up in eastern Ghouta, the Syrian ‘Civil War’ will be over.  Unfortunately, this operation isn’t going to end tomorrow or by the end of the week.

There will be false-flags, propaganda, pictures of children being bombed and the sickening images of “The White Helmets” staging all of it.   But, like in Aleppo, the information war will not change the facts on the ground.

It won’t change the fact that eventually, the pro-Assad alliance will exterminate the threat these jihadist animals pose.  And, as Mr. Mercouris so succinctly pointed out above, the rest is a mop-up operation.

The reason they will be successful is because the alternative is a full-out world war.  Putin and Trump both know this.  Putin has resisted every provocation to this point and by doing so has been inching closer to eventual victory.

And it’s a victory that once secured will allow that foundation he and Trump have been building to carry the weight of a peace process frozen for generations by bad policy and old enmities.

There are no ancient Jewish cities in Israel,...
but there are lots of ancient Greek cities.

What is weird is this; that 2000 years ago, it seems that there were no people even resembling Jews, in Israel.

It turns out that there is not a single ancient Jewish city in what is now called Israel. There is not a single ancient city where Hebrew characters are used on the statues and buildings. There is not a single ancient city where the buildings are in the ancient Jewish architectural style. In fact, there is not even a category of "ancient Jewish architectural style".

Of course, the Hebrew characters that are desired, are those of the Dead Sea scrolls (supposedly from 2000 years ago), which are essentially the modern Hebrew characters without points.

If you check out all the ancient cities in Israel from 2000 years ago, they are all Greek, and their ruins are still there for you to visit. Their inscriptions are in the Greek script and the buildings are in the ancient Greek architectural styles.

Here is a list of some of the known ancient Greek cities in (and near) Israel; Ecdippa, Seleucia, Ptolemais, Taricheia Arbela, Asochis, Sepphoris, Hippos, Dion, Sycaminum, Bucolon Polis, Itabyrium, Gadara, Abila, Dora, Comus, Gephrus, Crocodilion Polis, Caesarea, Straton's Tower, Narbata, Scythopolis, Pella, Samaria, Amathus, Ragaba, Gerasa, Apollonia, Sicima, Pegae, Joppa, Arimathea, Jamnia, Port of Jamnia, Lydda, Modiin, Aphaerema, Philadelphia, Birtha, Gazara, Beth Horon, Dok, Jericho, Samaga, Esbus, Medaba, Ladder of Tyre, Azotus, Port of Azotus, Accaron, Jerusalem, Ascalon, Anthedon, Gaza, Marissa, Beth Zur, Hebron, Adora, Engeddi.

The ancient Jewish cities in Israel are,....... well there aren't any. Not even one.

Here's an interesting example of a first century BC Greek inscription (i.e., in Greek letters) from Jerusalem's Temple Mount forbidding the entry of strangers to the Temple precinct.

The pictured stone was found in 1935. It was actually the second such warning-stone to be found, the first being discovered by Charles Simon Clermont-Ganneau in 1871. It was deemed so dangerous to the "Jews inhabited Israel 2000 years ago" theory, that it completely disappeared for 13 years before resurfacing in Istanbul, where, it was correctly calculated, it would not attract much attention.

The first Jerusalem Temple Mount warning-stone, now found in the Archaeology Museum, Istanbul, is pictured below:

It says (in Greek): "No stranger is to enter within the balustrade round the temple and enclosure. Whoever is caught will be responsible to himself for his death, which will ensue."

Slack Jack's CHALLENGE:

Name ONE ancient city (that existed in what is now called Israel) where the building inscriptions are all in Hebrew, and the buildings are constructed in the ancient Hebrew architectural style (whatever that may be).

Then give a summary of "the ancient Hebrew architectural style" (you will have to make this up as it does not yet exist).

Then give links to photos of the ancient building inscriptions which show that they are written in Hebrew.

Then show that the buildings are constructed in the ancient Hebrew architectural style (that you have just invented).

The Dead Sea scrolls Hoax.

The Dead Sea scrolls are a mixture of old documents that were hidden in a number of caves to be miraculously found and used to support the establishment of Israel, a country intended for Jews only.

The main document "finds" were in 1946 and 1947 in caves near the tiny ancient settlement of Qumran.

Israel was created in 1948.

The Dead Sea scrolls are the only really old (well supposedly really old) documents, in the Hebrew characters, that have ever been found. No other really old documents in the Hebrew characters have ever been found.

All other documents in Hebrew characters date from later than 800 AD.

Previous to the "finds", critics had pointed out the late date of all documents in Hebrew characters, and deduced that the Hebrew Old Testament must have been translated from the Greek Old Testament and not the other way round.

Then, low and behold,... a very timely miracle occurs.

The Dead Sea scrolls are "found" and dated to hundreds of years earlier than the oldest previously known documents in Hebrew characters.

Then, it is widely claimed that all the scrolls were produced and hidden in the Qumran caves before 70 AD (the supposed time of the mythical sack of Jerusalem by the Romans).

The critics are not given access to the scrolls nor even photographs of the text, lest they spoil the party.

In fact, for decades, only seven scholars are given access to the scrolls.

This goes on till certain critics are dead and the scrolls have been purged of all anachronisms (like Arabic numerals).

Then, in 1991, only 45 years after their "discovery", the Huntington Library, in San Marino, California, without consent, makes facsimile copies of the scrolls available to all.

So that, in brief, is the Dead Sea scrolls Hoax.

More, however, can be deduced....

One can even guess where the Dead Sea documents came from.

It turns out that some of the Dead Sea documents, for example, the "Damascus Document," are nearly identical to documents from the Genizah collection of the Ben Ezra Synagogue in Cairo, Egypt. So, it is likely that many of the Dead Sea scrolls had their source there.

Worldwide, there are ten manuscripts of the "Damascus Document" from the Dead Sea scrolls and two from the Cairo Genizah. This strange distribution is a result of the fraud. The "Damascus Document" was first published in 1910 by Solomon Schechter in "Fragments of a Zadokite Work."

The Ben Ezra Synagogue was established around 900 AD.

Now, the Arabs have ruled Egypt since they defeated the Greek armies around 635 AD.

Now, the synagogue (and its Jews) existed happily, undisturbed, in Cairo, in the midst of the Islamic world.

So, maybe the original Jews were a group of Arabs.

This would explain why Hebrew and Arabic are nearly identical languages.

This would explain why the Hebrew and Islamic religious traditions are very similar.

And, it would also explain why Jews turned up in Spain with the Arabs (Moors).

Another couple of points:

It should also be noted that a few Jewish scholars (in particular, Solomon Zeitlin) have long insisted that the Dead Sea scrolls were a Medieval production. [Zeitlin was a well-known Talmudic scholar and would not claim this unless convinced it was true.]

Internal evidence from the scrolls themselves indicates a Medieval production. See, here.

And, the fact that many scrolls are written on vellum (90% of them) proves these are indeed a Medieval production.

It is estimated that 20 people occupied the site of Qumran (estimated by the number of inhabitants for whom there was room in the buildings). Now these 20 people were not just ordinary people, they read and wrote Greek, Phoenician, Aramaic, Nabataean, and Hebrew documents, like natives, and managed to write learned works on numerous religious topics (about 900 manuscripts were "recovered"; about six hundred separate works), while gathering enough water, and raising enough food, for their survival, in a desert.

Some have tried to claim that as many as 200 lived at Qumran, but most have considered that number ridiculously high.

Anyway, I think it is clear that the Dead Sea scrolls are a bunch of old documents that have been thrown together and sold to a gullible world.

And Russia suddenly declares a ceasefire to let their "partners" in the US regime remove assets before bombing the dumb paid killers who didn't get the memo.  Old controlled opposition from the co-op called "cold war" days, and the zionist empire spreads under the umbrella of fighting an enemy created by propaganda and paid killers just following orders.

HowdyDoody greven40 Tue, 02/27/2018 - 10:57 Permalink

The ceasefire doesn't apply to recognized terrorist groups such all the 'carefully vetted moderates' trained by the US. It is simply the offer of a last chance to the non-Wahhabists to renounce violence, and an opportunity for the civilians held as human shields by the USCVMs to escape via defined escape routes as used in the liberation of Aleppo.

Waydogo ZH awesome article. Nice to know the Syrians have such an effective air defense system in place now that the Israelis are shaking in their boots. The israelis like the US love beating up on countries and people who can’t defend themselves but when the come up against an adversary who can, they scurry want like cowards.

To the author

My father was a Navy pilot and when we discussed the fire bombings of Dresden, Tokyo, Seoul and Hanoi, it always came back to the most familiar ingrained theme he was taught that becomes instinctive over time -you wear your "enemy down" no matter the price!... I always asked him the same question that I ponder to this day as an old man "why" would you do such things when you know the "truth" of who started these war(s) of choice in the first place that will inevitably one day be revisited on U.S.?.... I never got an answer to that question and I'm certain we will ALL understand very soon what it will be like being on the receiving end of it when you make the worst choices to want what you can no longer have and refuse to "STOP"!...

Thank you for giving U.S. a taste of the 21st Century version of Gruesome Harvest (…) to a culture that doesn't understand nor cares what it does in the business of "human torture" and suffering that is unequalled no matter how egregious the lies to preserve the "mission"... Even when it includes sacrificing it's own ( to control what it no longer "controls"!...

Tip o' the hat to the Tyler(s) for putting it up!...

We should all be very introspective given the harm we have caused as a Nation everywhere else on humanity simply to keep a currency and a way of life intact that will never recover given the choices we continue to make in perpetuity that we know are not only wrong but evil and can only fail!

The biggest imperfection in this read Tommy boy is that you place too much trust in the intelligence of the guy in the "oval office" that is not only NOT THAT SMART, but is simply along for the ride on a 150 mph train he wants to get "off of" and "desperately so" I might add!!!

Our military adventures serve repulsive or pointless purposes. Half of our population has rejected decency or sanity. Our public debate is a joke, awash in bogus anti-Russia hysteria. Feminist hyenas and homosexuals poison politics. Spending and debt are uncontrolled. So is third-world immigration. The MSM cling to utter fairy tales about race, immigration, Muslims, multiculturalism, Israel, and our (gutted) Constitution.

Europe is no better but still the arrival of American forces anywhere ought to be viewed as an outright curse. If the world doesn't see American "leadership" as a curse, it should.

This is absolute US bullshit propaganda. The US, UK, Israel, and SA started destabilization efforts in Syria over ten years ago and then through their paid terrorist insurgents they started the war. The Al Qaeda "moderate" terrorist groups were not tough enough with their terrorism in order to get the job done, so continuing with their stealth they created ISIS - no longer a theory but actual fact. These nations are the leader nations of the rest of NATO nations in their ME and Russian conquest efforts. Their immediate purpose is the control of the entire Levant not because of a Shiite threat to Israel or SA but because of the greed of these warmongering world-exploiting nations.

Turkey as part of NATO is not really defending itself from Kurdish aggression but simply continuing the destabilizing process in an effort to break Assad partition Syria.  The Ziocon control of US foreign policy actually supports the incessant Israeli attacks on the Syrian government SAA installations in their desperate efforts to escalate the war. Like 9/11 they are the main cause of the senseless mass killing and devastation of the nation.  If there was any justice in the world, they and all of their debt-slaved nations behind the mess would be held totally accountable and made to to Syria letting the Syrians hire who they want to rebuild their nations.

"The city of Damascus and the countryside to the East of the capital, East Ghouta, are the theatre for violent combats opposing Al-Qaïda (supported by the United Kingdom and France) and the Syrian Arab Army. The Republic is trying to deliver the population from seven years of occupation and sharia. But the colonial powers do not agree."

The "coalition" = USA, Israel, SA, UK and France, all of which nations will go down in history as shitass lying nations guilty, guilty, guilty of murdering hundreds of thousands of Syrians, displacing millions more, and totally devastating that nation.  The military and the propagandizing media of these coalition nations are as guilty as their leaders and the banksters and oilmen who own and control them.

Syria - The Two East-Ghouta Campaigns - One Is For Liberation, The Other To Save Terrorists  Go Here

Terrorist attacks in eastern Ghouta are blamed as Russian/Syrian bs spins Same narratives and hence demanding U.N. Security Council 30 days ceasefire vote on Syria by the west as their moral high ground can't allow them to see the killing of Assad regime.
And their moral for humanitarian concerns are selective and choose to snap at odd times like after i$i$rahelli jet downed, Syria was moving about to liberate the eastern Ghouta regions and the daily bombardment of Yemen by saudstan is not a crime.

The western nation's bias hypocrisy and immoral has no bound as Sergey Lavrov said.

"Syrian regime forces launched a fresh ground and air offensive on Sunday against rebel positions in the besieged and battered enclave of eastern Ghouta in defiance of a nationwide ceasefire ordered by the UN security council."

Check all western outlets narratives full of copied past shit and crocodile tears.

They are crying for the rebels aka terrorist who got helped by them for their agenda, made escaped from Aleppo then are being used again to bash Assad/Putin at a critical time when the Russian initiative of peace was reaching fruit and when Syria moves to liberate the region from the terrorist.

The UN resolution for ceasefire is delayed by Russians demanding assurance that their terrorist will respect it, who will monitor it, who will make sure the humanitarian convoy/car won't contain supplies to terrorist or the halt of 30 days is to rearm them etc

These are legit questions and they got no real answers except their master's orders them to achieve this truce for some reasons.

To get their failures of regime change in Syria a lot of civilians must be dead just as they did in Aleppo, remember after the liberation of Aleppo how the MSM dropped its news, why because it's no longer in the advantage of their phony narratives.Again they don't follow and report the progress in Aleppo.

 E. Ghouta front is turning into Aleppo 2.0 RT Here

The UN has been seating the whole fucking 7 years and oh they just snapped now? Who is doing war crimes all of these years and still arming jihadists and committing heinous crimes against humanity?

Why don't they be man enough and fight themselves instead of hiding under schools/hospitals and attack by the scripts?

For an atheist or secular who don't believe evil exists here their proof, issrahell/saudsatan/usa/uk/turk/... sponsors and host of the devil.
