Practice honesty when it matters most, with yourself.

"This is your life and it's ending one minute at a time."
-Tyler Durden, Fight Club

Three months.

90 days.

129,600 minutes.

This is how long until we come together, again, at the Second Zerohedge Symposium and Live Fight Club in Marfa, Texas, June 1-3, 2018.

The theme this year is, The Insider, and for two and a half days some courageous insiders are going to step up on the Paper Street Soap Box and talk about nine different topics.*

  • Chinese manufacturing
  • The stock market
  • Death and taxes
  • Big oil
  • The US military
  • Renewable energy
  • Nuclear power
  • Municipal bonds
  • Academia in America

*We still need alternate speakers, ready on deck, because shit happens.  Let us know if you are an Insider that is ready, willing, and able to come speak:  hedgeless @ protonmail . ch

Last year, what most interested me was not the quantity of people that showed up, more than 100, but the quality of the people.  This year, in an era of fake news and peak horseshit, the truly interesting thing, for me, is that in Marfa we are very likely to hear these speakers TELL THE TRUTH.

Why?  Two reasons: anonymity and accountability.

At Fight Club, these two concepts are not mutually exclusive, but in fact they are symbiotic.  At Fight Club, it does not matter who you are (there are no conference badges or registration; we are all just space monkeys); all that matters is what you say.  And unlike the presstitute conferences that are broadcast "live" on television, the questions asked live and in person at Fight Club are definitely not scripted.  Speakers must actually defend what they say, just like here in the comments section of ZeroHedge.  "No comment," and, "Next question," simply don't fly in Marfa.  And if anything, we ZeroHedgers are pretty damn good at sniffing out bullshit, tout suite.

Why ZH Fight Club matters: The scarcity of real discussion and debate in today's society and what we can do about it.

So, other than booking your lodging, and donating so we can pay for the meeting hall, PA system, and live music, what can you do, now, to train for fight club?

Stop lying...to yourself.

How?

Project Mayhem homework assignment:

Set a goal for yourself, to be reached in 90 days, with a one sentence plan on how you are going to achieve it, and write this down at the top of a sheet of paper and paste it on your bathroom mirror.  Make sure it is measurable.  Then every day, for the next 90 days, hold yourself accountable.  No accountability partners.  No Tyler Durden showing up with a gun to make sure you are on your way to vet school, Raymond K. Hessel.

Disintermediate YOUR life.

Just you.

Write your progress on your sheet of paper every single day of your life for the next 90 days.  Practice honesty when it matters most, with yourself.

Here are some ideas:

I am going to lose 15 pounds by running for 30 minutes a day, 6 days a week, and not eating bread or HFCS.  Each day write down my weight, miles ran, and my diet success or failure.

I am going to start spending less than I earn by attending all 9 weeks of Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University class and following a budget.  Each day track all of my income and expenses.  As Dave says, "Every dollar, on paper, on purpose."

I am going to not use mind-altering chemicals by attending an AA meeting, every day, getting a sponsor, and working a Twelve Step Program.  Keep track of my meeting attendance.

I am going to lower my stress level by attending a yoga class 5 days a week.  Keep track of attendance and resting heart rate.

I am going to improve my relationship with my spouse by taking dance lessons with him or her and dancing together for at least one song every night.  Keep track of lesson attendance, nightly dances, and number of arguments.

You get the point.

Speaking of dancing, Saturday night's live music this year, Weldon Henson and his band, is going to be amazing.  You will want to bring your cowboy boots!

Please donate early so that we can cover the costs of the hall, PA system, and this great band.

It is all going to happen at the MAC again...
