Happy Perjury Anniversary, James Clapper

Via JonathanTurley.org,

Today is an important anniversary for former intelligence chief James Clapper. No it is not his marriage anniversary or conventional milestone.  Clapper can celebrate the running out of the statute of limitations on his alleged perjury before Congress — five years and Clapper is now beyond the reach of the law.

recently wrote a column on the approaching anniversary and how it reaffirms the widely held view that powerful people in Washington are immune from laws used against the rest of society.

Clapper appeared before the Senate to discuss surveillance programs in the midst of a controversy over warrantless surveillance of the American public. He was asked directly, “Does the NSA collect any type of data at all on millions, or hundreds of millions of Americans?”

There was no ambiguity or confusion and Clapper responded, “No, sir. … Not wittingly.” That was a lie and Clapper knew it when he said it.

Later, Clapper said that his testimony was “the least untruthful” statement he could make. That would still make it a lie of course but Clapper is a made guy. While feigned shock and disgust, most Democratic leaders notably did not call for his prosecution. Soon Clapper was back testifying and former president Obama even put Clapper on a federal panel to review the very programs that he lied about in Congress. Clapper is now regularly appearing on cable shows which, for example, used Clapper’s word as proof that Trump was lying in saying that there was surveillance of Trump Tower carried out by President Barack Obama. CNN and other networks used Clapper’s assurance without ever mentioning that he previously lied about surveillance programs.

News organizations now regularly feature Clapper who has denounced Donald Trump and members of his government, as discussed in an earlier column.

It is the latest chapter in America’s Animal Farm as average citizens are criminally charged with small discrepancies in statements to investigators while people like Clapper and David Petraeus and Sandy Berger are protected from serious repercussions for alleged criminal acts.

Orwell wrote the fanciful account of a farm society of animals at the end of World War II during a period of authoritarian power and government propaganda. The farm government proclaimed equality of all animals but, as the pig Squealer explained, “all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

Of course, none of our politicians is nearly as open and honest as Squealer. There will be no sign proclaiming the different treatment of the governing and governed classes. They prefer the barnyard to return to its previously sleepy existence once the offender has been put away.  That is why Clapper’s anniversary is a point of celebration in the Beltway as a reaffirmation that, in Washington, “all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

Sure Clapper is a fuckhead...but I was interested in what people thought about whether Merkel really is Hitler's daughter as suggested by Qanon. After the independent revelations that Justin Trudeau was actually the son of Fidel Castro what level of collusion could this be...

And then there is the knowingly untruthful statement told with all the fake emotion one can muster, in the hope's that the display of emotion will be taken as a sign of one's earnestness...one's conviction to only telling the truth...always.

Those are the worst.

Like..."At this point what difference does it make!!!"...and..."Hands up. Don't shoot!!!"...and..."If you like the plan you have, you can keep it!!!"

Using emotion to carry out a willful lie (to me) is worse...to me it should carry a stiffer penalty.

Like the difference between aggravated assault and simple assault  ;-)

This was a minimal bear turd can we get to some really big ones?

And let me guess Obama is Idi Amin's son? Do you think the world is scripted by Steven Spielberg (probably Chaim Weizmann's son)? In 2008 we voted. We could have voted for Hillary, we could have voted for McCain, but we were inspired by Obama, so he won. 2012, same. 2016, same. The world is not a movie. Alan Moore said it best. Conspiracies are comforting, reassuring, truth of the matter is the world is not controlled by anybody. You can take action if you want to. The world is rudderless.

Do you have a map that shows how to get to the world you live in? It sounds nice. Does Santa Claus live there in harmony with the Easter Bunny? The idea that the world is rudderless when installing a rudder would be worth trillions to those who control it seems counter-intuitive. The only way that would be the case is if rudders are intrinsically impossible. I've seen no evidence for that so far.

Some people are more powerful than others. That does not mean every single world leader is literally the son of historical figures and this is all a movie we are living in. Merkel is not Hitler's daughter. Justin Trudeau is not Fidel Castro's son and the Rothschilds don't control every part of the world (or Trump wouldn't even be able to get elected).

Damn clowns. YOU, as a person, have power. Understand that, and exercise it, rather than sulk online and cry about not being able to affect the world because it's literally the same story today as it was 1945 and every incident that's happened has been "orchestrated for us". It's so pathetic it's mind-numbing.

Don't forget Obama arranged for Eric Holder to leave town just before the formal lying bastard to congress charge was voted. It's a club. But spear and shield waving social justice warriors have arranged a lifetime statute of limitations exemption for grabbing a butt or talking rude to a commoner female. Unless you are a former president DEmocrat with the initials B.C.

This would matter in a country where the rule of law is still "alive" and valued, but it isn't, so this matters not, and Mr.Clapper knows it. As a matter of fact, allot of people know it, people like; Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch, George Bush {old man and the younger}, The Clinton Crime Family, Hank Paulson, on, and on, and on. The only people who the rule of law applies to is "the little guy", the average citizen who doesn't pay all of the taxes that the government says they owe, the farmer selling fresh, non-homogenized milk, the rancher that grazes his livestock on public lands, etc. Notice that we always here about how big multi-national corporations are over taxed and over regulated, but you NEVER here about how over taxed and over regulated the individual is. That right there tells you all you need to know.

To lower tax rates for hardworking Americans, we nearly doubled the standard deduction for everyone.  Now, the first $24,000 earned by a married couple is completely tax-free.  We also doubled the child tax credit.

A typical family of four making $75,000 will see their tax bill reduced by $2,000 — slashing their tax bill in half.

This April will be the last time you ever file under the old broken system — and millions of Americans will have more take-home pay starting next month.

Unless the federal government shrinks accordingly, this so-called tax cut is a lie. You will still pay, just in ways you can't see as plainly {inflation}. And your children and grandchildren will pay, God will they ever pay. This is just another tax scheme where your taxes are just delayed, think of it as an adjustable mortgage: you pay less in the beginning, but later your rates will adjust sharply upward. Short term tax relief in the face of increased military spending, increased infrastructure spending, and increased Social Security payouts is suicide unless you are going to dismantle six or seven federal departments. I'm all for that!

It’s all gone, there is nothing left to tax. It has already destroyed retail, now it is going to spread to other sectors of the economy.

No wage growth plus stealth inflation has bankrupted most families in reality.

Cheap credit is the only thing maintaining the illusion. When rates rise, what then?

Longer loan terms? Lifetime mortgages? Interest only auto loans?

Its gonna get weird folks.

Weird may be understating it a wee bit, de.

It's going to get down right sucky and as the asset stripping continues it will turn into a horror show extravaganza.

And that's not counting the fact that they are planning to kill us all off (Which is actually already well in progress) starting with those that are awake and capable of the most resistance.

The really bad news is; those with the FATTEST bank accounts and most assets, who are the MOST awake, moist and frothy go first and as fast as they can manage it without it being too obvious.

I like to go ahead and call that attempted mass murder myself.

I'm very comfy with that call being 100% accurate too.

Billy, Billy, Billy, the answer's simple, my boy

Those of us at higher income levels have a greater capacity to enjoy the money compared to the poor; & we are also intellectually better equipped to dispense it into the economy

But chin up; there's nothing keeping you from continuing with bad poetry & angry screeds. As a matter of fact, such reactions helps us enjoy our money even more

I used to earn six figures but I got tired of supporting government and central banks so I reduced the amount of business I do to the point where I live on near poverty level income and I do it quite comfortably.

I've learned that those with higher incomes have a greater capacity for wasting effort on acquiring useless gimmickry than those of us who value time and freedom over trinkets.

And please present any examples of poetry I've written with which you've found fault. I'm always willing to learn.

Big dreams?

I do believe big dreams are a superior posture in life to defeatism.

The HAMMER is hardware and that means there is a document trail a hundred yards wide and a spider web of ways to hang it on Obama, Clapper, Brennan AND the FBI who constructed and programmed the precursor spy system. .. It's a super computer, not so easy to destroy with a little hammer. ... Even a $800 gov hammer.

I'm not saying prosecuting Clapper on the HAMMER will be cheap or easy. ..... Just worth doing if we want OUR government back.

I'm not really arguing with you here either. .. Just consider these counter points and the rewards of not 'throwing in the towel' before the bell rings.
