Social Justice Curriculum Leaks into Math and Science

Via The Daily Bell

If a train leaves New York going west at 60 mph, and a train leaves Chicago going east at 70 mph, how many microaggressions will the conductors commit before the trains collide?

Think this question can’t be answered by physics? Think again! According to Pomona College, racial bias and microaggressions are a necessary subject for physics coursework.

“Foundations of Modern Physics” is a mandatory class for all physics and astronomy students at Pomona College. And one of their first assignments last fall was a project called “Decolonizing Physics.”

The Pomona College course catalog describes the class as an “introduction to wave mechanics, spectra and structure of atoms, molecules and solids, nuclear physics and particle physics.”

According to an email obtained by the Independent sent from a student asking for assistance on the project, students in Foundations of Modern Physics must “learn and discuss implicit bias, microaggressions and other similar topics.” The email revealed that students are expected to “bring to light some of these issues to both the physics department and Pomona in general,” and cited a student movement at Harvard University, which highlighted microaggressions against students of color, as an example of the work expected from the students enrolled in the physics class.

It is not clear what aspects of wave mechanics, atomic structures, molecules and solids, nuclear physics, or particle physics deals with interpersonal implicit bias, a topic typically reserved for the social sciences and humanities.

The email stated that the student attempted her own rendition of the “#ITooAmHarvard” project—a student-developed movement at Harvard University to highlight microaggressions against students of color—with the catchphrase “#ITooAmSTEM.” The student called for the stories of female students or students of color to discuss STEM-related social justice topics for women and persons of color.

Apparently, colleges are not content propagandizing only their liberal arts departments.

Last year, statistics students at Pomona College were subjected to similar coursework.

“The main goal of this course [Math 058] is to enhance your analytical and statistical skills while exploring topics in social justice.”

A component of the class also includes mandatory journals submitted every week that “should contain reflections on both the statistical and social justice topics covered.”

Students at Pomona seemed to disagree with the course’s objectives. One mathematics student told the Independent, under the condition of anonymity, that “[if] you are studying math influenced by any ideology… it’s not math. The beauty of math is that it is objective – it holds true regardless of culture, politics and so on. If you’re teaching social justice in a math class, you’re not teaching math.”

My grandfather used to say (perhaps quoting Benjamin Disraeli or Mark Twain) that there are three types of untruths: lies, damn lies, and statistics.

Apparently, the intelligentsia wants to prove this true. But they want to make sure the right lies are being told.

A statistics course could hit on these topics inadvertently, by talking about choosing the right type of sample for surveys and avoiding statistical errors based on bias. But it sounds more like they will teach how to work your bias right into your statistical analysis.

Unfortunately, the professors teaching the courses never responded to multiple attempts by the Independent for an explanation of what exactly the social justice component of the classwork will entail.

So please tell us in the comments your own interpretation. Are microaggressions, racial, and gender bias appropriate topics for physics and statistics classes?

You don’t have to play by the rules of the corrupt politicians, manipulative media, and brainwashed peers.

I looked over the curriculum of a nearby school and wanted to vomit. There was no math or science per se. Instead of physics, chemistry, or biology there was ecology, environment, and social science. There was no science. There was some memorization and a lot of history of science and a lot of propaganda. Grades were 90% based on class participation and helping other students with projects. These educators were saying that girls were better at math and science than the boys ... but how would they know?

Even banalities require anonymity. For otherwise the former-gestapo-now-antifa and its affiliated party members among the administrators and the teaching staff would come after you.

Question "If a train leaves New York going west at 60 mph, and a train leaves Chicago going east at 70 mph, how many microaggressions will the conductors commit before the trains collide?"

Answer "ad Infinitum"

The trains may leave the stations at a set speed but as we know from experience, the speed is not a constant and far to often somewhere along the track they come to a standstill.

lol.

The quantum nature of reality incorporates the observer effect in which interaction with a sentient consciousness modifies the nature of reality. This is fundamentally understood in particle physics but less understood at the macro level. It is more commonly dealt with in biology where consciousness is not 'assumed away' as often, the effect is still present in macro-level physics. Why is it so hard to develop a drug which is significantly better than an 'inert' sugar pill? What exactly is the 'placebo effect' and why is it so incredibly powerful? When a cancer undergoes 'spontaneous remission' just exactly what is happening at a molecular level? I'm a scientist and have spent a lot of time shaking my head at my fellow scientists as the they name a phenomenon and then act as if they have explained it away so they can maintain their beliefs in the underlying structure of the universe. The world is not as we were taught. I don't pretend to understand exactly how it works but I've seen enough to know that the scientific materialism we were taught all our lives is a false myth. I doubt that incorporating SJW values into their courses will do much to help but I applaud any effort to shed light on the fact that we really don't understand how the universe functions.

local "news" the other day did that too - had a little happy group of maybe six year old girls and the "teacher" asks them "are girls as good (or better i can't recall exactly) than boys at science?"  and they all happily wildly answer girls are better than boys!

I'm like really?  do they know the definition of "science"?  ask them that.

the answer would be :  crickets.

I brought my step-daughter from Europe to an American high school for enrollment. She already had physics, chemistry and biology. She was past geometry and algebra and had a smatter of trig. She spoke her native language, English, Russian and a little bit of Polish.  The school was hung up on her having "an American school language" like French or Spanish. I offered to pay for her to be examined at the local university to determine her Russian language proficiency. Nope, you gotta take French or Spanish. Didn't matter that she excelled ahead of her class level in sciences and math. They couldn't come up with a schedule because she had to have an additional foreign language around which they loaded worthless additional shit. We home schooled her and enrolled her in local college, non-credit courses.

Why do they not teach the truth about jew warI & jew warII ?

HITLER WAS NOT A ROTHSCHILD-BRITISH AGENT!

Excerpt From: http://tomatobubble.com/id956.html

"Every few weeks or so, for the past five years and counting, a reader will ask for comment on the persistent false allegation of Adolf Hitler having been a secret agent of the Rothschild bankers.

Dismissing the claims as retarded rubbish with a few sentences of clarification is generally all it takes to reassure Hitler fans that there is no cause for alarm.

All one has to do is look at the level of never-ending red-hot hatred that is still being leveled at Hitler. Seventy years after Germany's defeat in World War II, he continues to be vilified by the PRC (Predatory Ruling Class) for one simple reason -- to scare people into a "never do that again" frame of mind. The Great One was true blue -- the real deal -- the genuine article.

Contrary to the idiotic claims of patriotards and assorted trolls who are known to pose as “anti-Globalists,” Hitler shut down the German, French and Austrian branches of the House of Rothschild -- a very peculiar action for a “Rothschild agent”, eh?

1 - The Daily News, Perth, Friday, 8 April, 1938, page-2

VIENNA, -- Whether ex-King Ed ward of England, the Duke of Windsor, had anything to do with it is not announced, but his Jewish friend, Austrian banker, Baron Louis Rothschild, was released today by the Nazis. But the Rothschild Bank is confiscated. The Duke made a personal plea to Hitler for the release of Rothschild and others three weeks ago. But he was given a rebuff. Hitler replied, ‘regretting his inability to comply with the request.’ 2- The Sydney Morning Herald, Saturday 23 September 1939

LONDON, Sept. 22. (A.A.P.)

The fortune of Mr. Julius Rothschild, a member of the well-known ‘ Jewish banking house, has been confiscated by the German Government, states a message from Berlin.

This un-sourced nonsense about Hitler the British-Rothschild agent doesn't even merit the time that it takes to rebut it. But because more than a few truthers have bought into this lunacy and continue to repeat this lie (promoted by advertising salesmen such as Alex Jones of DisInfo Wars, among others) -- what follows is a "put-up-or-shut-up"refutation of the major points of the "Hitler-worked-for-the-Rothschilds" fairy tale and its lesser variant: "The-Rothschilds-funded-and-manipulated-Hitler."

Some of these crackpots even go as far as to say that Hitler was not just a Rothschild puppet, but an actual family member!

Claim: Hitler tried to make deals with the British. He should have known that England would ally itself with Russia rather than against it. This proves that Hitler was a Rothschild agent and false opposition.

Rebuttal: The English ruling class was NOT monolithic. Hitler's outreach was to the reasonable elements -- not to scum such as Winston Churchill and Anthony Eden.

There were powerful men in Britain that were resisting the drive to World War II with Germany. Men such as former Prime Minister David Lloyd GeorgeKing Edward VIII (later demoted to Duke because he was an open admirer of Hitler)the 5th Duke of WellingtonLord Halifax, and even Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain -- the "appeaser" who was maneuvered into war by the traitors in his own Party.

It was those type of Englishmen that Hitler was trying to forge an alliance with -- not the Rothschild Jews and their Freemason stooges!" Continued......

A fantastical fictional character created by a crazy woman named Ayn Rand, who knew zilch about economics and business, but had such disciples as Alan Greenspan - of Fed bubble infamy - and Ron Paul who spent most of his life in BIG government failing to audit the Fed.  Go figure.  There are more contradictions and nonsenses in what is generally called "Libertarianism" than maybe any other ideology … perhaps why a successful party has never been formed, after all at one kind of extreme is Noam Chomsky (a Social Libertarian!!) and at another are those calling themselves "anarcho-capitalists", I suppose inspired by John Galt dashing around establishing industries, inventing, preaching revolution, obtaining improbable degrees, etc..  A kind of Elon Musk on steroids and then some.

I counter all of this individualistic flight of fancy with the sharp reminding facts that we are a social species, more helpless at birth than any other, longer to mature than any other, lacking fur and talons, thus VERY dependent on each other - albeit obscured these days by such as switching on a light and being oblivious to the thousands of workers co-operating in oil extraction, transport, power stations, maintaining the grid, etc..  Our species is the only one which has to have artificial shelter and clothing, all requiring co-operative/collective effort.  This just skims the most important facts which negate Libertarianism and dictate, "Co-operate or perish."

Whether an economy is organized by the state entirely (China), a mix of state and private corporations, or entirely in private hands (though that has never been done), ALL depends on co-operation.  Think about it.  A major private corporation is like a small country, with workers showing loyalty and pursuing common goals.  It is not possible to get away from what emerges from our social nature, though of course it can be twisted and exploited, perhaps most seriously in the military.

Sand in your mangina, soy boy?

Ayn Rand wrote about these topics considerably better than you just did, and this wasn't her native language. She had libraries and typewriters, while you have the collected knowledge of mankind at your greasy fingertips, and you never even have to extricate your fat ass from mom's chair to research anything. Ayn was, in every way, including writing in English, a better human than you. It would be remarkable that you haven't suicided, except that doing so requires balls.

I'll assume you're a twinkle: average or above people outgrow Marx by the age of 30.

This will throw the idiots who have overrun Zerohedge into a full. frothing lather.  The real name of Ayn Rand was Alisa Zinovyevna Rosenbaum.  Yes, you read that correctly, her name was "Rosenbaum," and Ayn Rand was a Jew.  She entered the U.S. on a travel visa and was hired illegally as an illegal alien by a Hollywood producer.  She spoke out in support of the Yom Kippur war and was a vocal advocate for Israel.  Thousands of heads are now exploding across Zerohedge space.

As a matter of fact I could build a house, restore a car, farm and do a lot more that you probably can, when I was in my prime 40 years ago. I managed to combine a wide variety of practical skills and knowledge, whilst mostly informally acquiring academic knowledge, including Marx, who I got past at about 23 after reading J K Galbraith.
When I was first studying - I started school 70 years ago - computers did not exist and did so only in crude form when I formally studied philosophy, anthropology and psychology nearly 40 years ago for a while, so for me too it was all books, libraries and mostly hand writing. So you can shove your slurs where the Sun don't shine, you arrogant Chump.
If you think that Ayn Rand was a philosopher and that logical positivism stands up, then you clearly have not studied anything much ... which is fairly obvious because your only "rebuttal" is ad hominin.

No. Next question. Perhaps too complex for you - too either/or with sloganish labels like "collectivist", which I suppose you associate with Stalin. Lenin knew that that was a mistake and now everyone does, except for maybe a few lingering followers of Trotsky. You can call me a co-operatist. Co-operative movements worked well alongside capitalism during the late 19th Century and up until about the 1980s, when neoliberalism gained ascendancy, privatising everything, ruining public banking and replacing both co-operative movements and capitalism with monetarism/financialism, simultaneously destroying what was left of real social ties, such as via the multi-cultural nonsense.

Whilst humans are a social species, the social group we evolved to work in was around 30 individuals, not some transnational corporation's 10,000, or a nation's 300 million.

Secondly, whilst we begin dependent, we achieve independence. And whilst we can run a power grid on our own, a strong individual can provide and maintain their own shelter, farm, defend themselves, etc. Many people have done it throughout history. I and many others can do ALL we need to not only survive, but thrive.

Right now, the Government is a drawback to me, and all who are moral and capable, not an advantage. That's wholly wrong.

You don't know me. In my prime I could build a house, restore a car and do pretty much anything you might mention. During the 70s I had ambitions for self-sufficiency, but impractical because Western Australia does not lend itself to intensive agriculture, husbandry, etc., not least because of water shortage. Some tried … and failed. As it was I didn't do too badly in suburbia, but then at 58 my back gave out.

Objectively no one can start down your kind of track until at least in their 20s and most will be past it soon in their 60s, then have to fall back on whatever social safety net that exists. In any case I'd bet my bottom dollar that, when younger, I could have done far more than you if viable land had been available, which it isn't for millions of people … probably S California, Nevada, New Mexico, or northern states like N Dakota.

Along the way I happened to study anthropology, psychology and philosophy, so there is nothing useful that you can tell me about tribes and their clan systems of 30-100 people - of all ages - whilst the key to existence was thousands of people having the same culture, though in groups/clans small enough for everyone to know each other intimately.  This cannot happen in civilisations/living in cities, so unless numbers of formal institutions replace what was naturally done it tribes/clans, e.g. mutual child care and rituals for deaths, everything will break down.

I won't argue with you about government having got too big and corrupt - it has - but short of a global catastrophe decimating the population and forcing a return to small communities - for those who survive - we are stuck with governments, which can hopefully be made accountable in future.

What's interesting about this is that, by demonizing, attacking, and disenfranchising those who are productive the US govt has guaranteed an economic collapse. No idea when, but the destruction of all that is required to actually produce - from factories to the mental and physical ability to work, to the economic foundations for effective stable and sustainable commerce, to effective management techniques, makes this outcome at least seem inevitable. The surviving SJW's will get their wish and be forced to live in camps, caves, or ruins.

As an odd aside, being an SJW may (in some respects) be seen as  survival strategy. As long as nothing goes too seriously wrong, they are NOT part of the 30% of the US population fit for military duty. They are so ineffective they cannot even be drafted in extremis.

First, people of color are referring to brown/black peoples. The people of color are the Caucasians with the wide variety of eye, hair and skin colors. After living amongst and working among mud people for several years I've decided that it is a micro-aggression just walking down the street. Mud people can SEE who the superior man is. Mud woman intuitively KNOW it and they WANT your DNA. Mud men are some of the most stupid humans I have ever met.
