Former Obama Officials Suggest European Allies Expel American Diplomats

Authored by Peter Hasson via The Daily Caller,

Two former Obama administration officials suggested that America’s European allies should punish President Donald Trump for withdrawing from the Iran deal and levying additional sanctions on the Islamic republic.

The European Union and individual European countries are obligated to take aggressive steps to preserve the Iran deal, in order to avoid becoming Trump’s “doormat,” Steven Simon and Jonathan Stevenson argued in an op-ed that ran in The New York Times Thursday. Both Simon and Stevenson were directors on former President Barack Obama’s National Security Council (NSC).

The European Union could, for instance, announce the withdrawal of member-states’ ambassadors from the United States. Isn’t this what states do when diplomatic partners breach solemn agreements, expose them to security risks and threaten to wreak havoc on their economies? That is, after all, what the administration is threatening to do by courting the risk of a Middle Eastern war and applying secondary sanctions to European companies,” they argued.

“Depending on the American response, European capitals might even follow up with expulsion of American ambassadors.”

It would be hard to fault these moves as irresponsible, given that they would not impair vital security functions like intelligence-sharing and law enforcement coordination. They would, however, symbolize a stark diplomatic breach that could extend to other areas in which the Trump administration needs allied support,” the former Obama officials wrote.

Thus, the White House would face the first hard choice in this whole process: a full-blown crisis in trans-Atlantic relations. If the administration’s next move were to impose secondary sanctions on Europe, the Europeans could slap its own penalties on American multinational corporations, which in turn would place additional pressure on the White House.”

Simon and Stevenson conceded it would be “radical” for Europe to sanction American companies in order to protect the Iran deal, but claimed that “it would arise in response to correspondingly egregious American behavior.”

Obama himself sharply and publicly criticized Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Iran deal — breaking with precedent that presidents refrain from criticizing their successor. The former president and former first lady Michelle Obama have publicly slammed Trump a dozen times since they left the White House.

Barry is looking old.  We all know the deal.  The deep state (Kerry, Barry, and Hitlary) is running around the world doing damage control, hoping to assuage EU, Hitler's daughter A. Merkel, and officials in NZ, to continue pressuring Trump into follow through with the Iran no deal-deal.  Some awfully naughty secrets are getting ready to be revealed this week.  Our favorite cast of clowns, noted above, took some Iranian bribes in return for letting them continue with their nuke program.  (If you're 43 boy bush Jr., I guess that would be 'nucular'.)  $400 billion some odd, to name a figure.  The EU was in on it.  We all know that's the reason both A. Hitler-Merkel and Rothschild puppet, Macron, paid Trump a visit a couple weeks ago.  I think Iran is going to let the proverbial nuclear warhead out of the bag because we all know this is Trump's angle, to the clowns exposed for their treasonous misdeeds.

It’s all a god cop bad cop game, controlled by the banking elites. Obama was in their pockets like Trump is today. The banksters have no allegiance to any nation or religion and they are bound to destroy the US. Trump is their fall guy, they will get their NWO after the US is finished. That’s why they need to disarm the American people.

When the newly appointed US ambassador to Germany tweeted right out of his landing plane a few days ago that German corporations had to leave Iran asap and cease all business there, I really thought: well, send this motherfucking a$$hole straight back to the Trumptard. How dare this disgrace of an ambassador giving his host country commands as if germany were just a colony of the USA.

But of course merkel and Maas will welcome the guy, being the obedient washington laskais that they are.

But yeah expelling Us diplomats would actually be a great show of strength of Europoean countries against theor US overlords.

Likely, either M0ssad or the C!A would instantly retailiate against any  european politician daring to do so.

Germany has been America's bitch since WW2.  It's not healthy for anyone but that's the fact.

So.......no need to retaliate because that would be like hitting yourself. Germany may as well be considered our 51st state without voting privileges.  No one is going to be expelled.  This is the list of bribe people panicking.

I want to see the bribe list!!!!  Come on Iran.  This is probably why Iran "got pallet loads of money".   How much you want to bet none of the pallets showed up???  Only the bank deposits probably did.

you guys are all so illiterate and dumb - at least that's the impression everybody gives, who talks about 150bn $ being "given" to Iran.

For the umpteeth time: That was Iran's money all the time! It was just frozen in the US as part of the sanctions. the trumptard, of course, keeps lying through his teeth and his moronic followers repeat the bs like parrots. His non-moronic followers get ever more worried by the day and leave in spades.

Another year of that kind of Trump policy and he will face impeachment and a humilating defeat in 2020, no matter who runs against him.

And the Trumptard would fully deserve it for all his betrayals and his teaming up with Bibi, the deep shit and the neocon warhawks.

Fuck trump!

@ cantscratchfever , so you find it perfectly normal that an ambassador comes to his host country and the first thing he does is shelling out commands to that foreign country of how to behave ?

Seriously? Well, that may be the attutude of the US, but that very attitude is the reason why the US of A will ultimately fail like all the empires before her. hubris, arrogance and preference for pressure,  extortion and oppression instead of cooperation and mutual agreements are all fun as long as you have the power to do so. Therafter, they lead to your former slaves punching you to death. And rightfully so.

Russia and China, meanwhile keep building bridges to other nations while the US keeps building warships, tanks and missiles.

guess what strategy is going to win out over the next 100 years?

And it is scary because I don't want to imagine a world under Chinese rule. And yet, that is precisely what we are all going to get. Thanks, in large part, to American shortsightedness by virtually forcing Russia right into China's arms.  Washington D.C. for sure is tha world#s capitol of poltical morons and unscrupoulos mass murderers. (of course others carry out the actual killings. but the strings for that are pulled in D.C. and some of those string pullers are themselves puppets of tel Aviv.)

Fuck you warmonering a$$holes who enjoy to use brute force against others, but cry like babies whenever you get pushed back even a little!

Your concerns are a minor sideshow. If we kept up on the same path we've been on for the past 30 years, there wouldn't be a USA for you to be concerned about.

And don't think China and Russia want to be "friends" with other nations. The game is power. Nothing more, nothing less.

I don’t mean to be ugly but if your country has U.S. bases, you are an occupied country.  Germany has been occupied since 1945.  America cannot supply its own oil needs.  There is no way it can supply Europe.  As the American Empire contracts, you will once again be on your own.  The irony of ironies is that whatever chance you have of continuing business as usual is very much dependent on the Russians.  It is the Russians that may very well help keep your lights on.  Without their natural gas and oil, things would very interesting.  The German Army released a study on your predicament back in 2010.

http://www.energybulletin.net/sites/default/files/Peak%20Oil_Study%20EN…

Iranian oil like Saudi oil comes with a price.  Europe must be tolerant of the Islamic invasion.  Germany worked very closely with the Ottoman Empire during the first half of the 20th century.  Arab divisions served in the Wehrmacht. This alliance was driven by the realization that the German economy was very dependent on oil imports.

Despite the noise produced by speculators talking their books, the legacy fields are declining.  We have seen it in Mexico, in the North Sea and in Alaska.  Shale oil and tar sands are exhibits of the desperation that exists in the industry.  They are touted as unlimited sources of oil production.   Meanwhile the net energy produced by all the combined sources continues to contract.

It is the surplus energy produced by two centuries of fossil fuel extraction that has produced the opulence we all enjoy.  Enjoy the party.    As the lights dim, American will not be there to save you.  Hell, we cannot even save ourselves.

Shale oil extraction is no more an act of desperation than horizontal drilling was circa 1990.  It represents an evolution of advancing tech pushing the cost curve downward on previously marginal/uneconomic NRG reserves.  There will be a point when all that kerogen in CO, known as oil shale, becomes economic to extract.  At that point, the US will be the undisputed #1 in extractable oil reserves.  Today, the USA keeps hitting record weekly oil flow extraction metrics.  We're gonna surpass 11 million barrels per day within the next 3 months.  Let's wait and see what gets discovered in the ANWR.  Very exciting prospects, I think they will find something bigger than Prudhoe.

Love it! But don’t be fooled there isn’t plenty of oil left in Alaska. Obama and others did their best to shut it all down but America needs Alaskan oil and the only thing any conservation measures taken in the past has done is to insure more oil in the future. Look at the present day oil foot print. See that tiny, tiny speck that is producing those billions of barrels of oil? Well, multiple that by 10,000 and MAYBE you’ll access 10% of all the oil under Alaska. NOW let’s talk about how much natural gas America has (which Alaska would lead the field with unmeasurable amounts) . . .

Hey, Europe, how’s that Russian hatred working for you now?

Frost, I have no doubt that there is a lot of oil that can be extracted in Alaska.  My gut tells me that if it was economically viable, the correct politicians would have already been bought by the oil majors and we would be drilling like crazy. Aside from the drilling issues, you have transport issues as well.  It takes a lot of oil in one location to make a pipe line a viable proposition.  The next best alternative is rail.  I know you can do it because I have had the great good fortune to have taken the train from Denali to Anchorage. Wow, what a trip.  Still if the oil extracted is not worth the cost of extraction and transport, it stays in the ground.

Europe should have stuck with nukes.   (France may yet do OK on this score.)   The Europeans stupidly signed up to the global  warming nonesense and made impossible committments, including decommissioning their domestic reactors, and wasting billions on wind and solar power.   Now Russia owns them because they cannot keep the lights on without Russian oil and gas.

As for throwing out US diplomats, this will further increase their vulnerability to Russia because they have been comfortably sheltered beneath the umbrella of the US military ever since WWII.   They have never spent enough on their own defences.   Germany's military is a joke and even Britain, which spent more than most, would be hard put to defend itself.

In short, Europe is in no position to upset anyone.

I’ve never gotten to question a deep state operative before. How are you doing these days? Scared? Worried that although America has known about you for a long time she’s finally going to spit you out of her gut and stamp on you with her steel toed boots? Do you stay up at nights realizing you destroyed your entire career and any legacy you had hoped would follow you after death? Are you crying over the fact you’ll go down in history as a traitor to the American Constitution? What are your plans when they come for you? Thinking of moving to Iran with all those peaceful folks that love you? Do you think they’ll still love you without those billions in unmarked cash? Are you ready to go to jail and be someone’s boy toy? How does it feel realizing you’re a hasbeen and no European country would be stupid enough to follow your advice because they see how you treat your own country, how you have been stripped of your power and how the American people will NEVER give that power back to you?

Some of of us may disagree with the aggression against Iran, but don’t think for one second that means we’re going to crawl on our bellies begging you to take back over. We’re done with you and like the Romans had their coliseum we’re feeding you to the lions. Bon appetite!

Trump is not trying to dis-arm the American people. That's your lib and Deep State buddies trying to do that. If Trump was "in their pockets" they wouldn't hate him so much and try to impeach him for nothing. When Trump pulled out of TPP that was it for the cabal. Things are messy but they have to be in order to get straightened out...get prepared!
