Mother And Daughter Shot In Oklahoma Restaurant, Suspect Killed By "Good Guy" With A Gun

A mother and her 12-year-old daughter celebrating a birthday at a popular restaurant in Oklahoma City were shot Thursday night around 6:30 p.m. by a man in his late teens, when a bystander armed with a pistol confronted the shooter and fatally shot him as he tried to flee, according to Oklahoma City Police - who called the citizen "a blessing."

Capt. Mathews says when the suspect exited the restaurant, he was confronted by a citizen who took out his own firearm, shooting and killing the suspect. -News9

Natalie and her daughter Niah Will were walking into Louie's Grill & Bar to celebrate the woman's eldest daughter Shayla's 14th birthday when they were shot by a man said to be an 18 to 20-year-old white male wearing eye glasses and ear protection. Natalie was shot in the arm, while 12-year-old Niah was shot in her tailbone - the bullet traveling to her stomach. Shayla's best friend, 14-year-old Alex, was also shot.

"To the good Samaritan that killed that monster I want to meet you and shake your hand and tell you face to face thank you for saving my daughter's and everyone else in that restaurants life. You are my hero sir," wrote Niah's father, Jabari Giles, over Facebook.

Natalie's sister Leslie said on Facebook both were in a stable condition, and Niah was taken into surgery, which 'went well'.

'Natalie was shot in the arm and is going to be fine. My niece suffered a more severe gunshot wound to her hip near the tail bone and bullet tracked into her stomach,' she wrote.

'She had surgery and it went well she is doing well. I just cant wrap my head around this evil in our world.

'My sister is one of the best mothers and sweetest people I've ever known. Her daughters are amazing kids.

It's heart wrenching to know they had to deal that level of fear. Especially while out celebrating my other nieces birthday.'

Natalie and Niah are believed to be stable, but Alex's condition is unknown - a woman believed to be Niah and Shayla's stepmother said on Facebook Niah had part of her colon removed, and Alex will have surgery tomorrow. -Daily Mail

All of the shooting victims are expected to survive, while Police Captain Bo Matthews told reporters that the armed civilian was "a blessing."

Homocide detectives quickly arrived at the scene and interviewed over 100 witnesses, along with News 9.

During the incident a man fell and broke his arm, and was also taken to the hospital. A fourth victim who suffered a minor injury was identified about two hours after the shooting, however it is not known if he was shot.

I'll be watching this evenings national news for the video and professional "reporting" by those highly paid corporate media "journalists".

I'm not sure what to think of this, a private citizen killing an "active shooter" long before the police arrive...goes against everything the "experts" recommend...I'll feel better after the "experts" have explained this and tell me what to think.

Time and again, local police, how to deal with crime..."Just be a good victim and give them whatever they want".

I've never come close to having to shoot anyone, but a few times, while out fishing, I've pulled out my biggest knife and "toyed" with it to give some young whipper snappers pause about fucking with a crazy old man wearing dirty, torn, camouflage smelling like catfish bait sporting an in the front out the back knife; with a smile.

I wonder if the police would take their own advice of "being a good victim" if someone walked into a police station with a shotgun and demanded everyone's wallet?

I think police stations should be "gun free" zones! Why do police need guns inside the police station? There should be lockers outside and all weapons stored there until needed.

Fake news, again. someone is deleting comments in this thread. Eyewitness stated that the person who killed the shooter came out of an suv in the parking lot,, and confrontation occurred near the parking lot, after the shooter was far removed from the restaurant. The shooter's killer didnt stop anything.

Depends which SoCal county. I have a CCW, but I'm fortunate enough to live in one of those SoCal counties where the Sheriff understands more concealed carry permit holders ultimately makes his county safer for everyone. Trust me, there are a lot of concealed carry men and women here in SoCal ... it's just that most of us don't have our primary residence in LA County, where getting a CCW permit is harder than winning the PowerBall Lottery.

I'm confused by the reporting so far.  In some accounts they say the good guy confronted the shooter and shot him as he attempted to flee, which sounds like he interrupted a shooting in progress.  In others, I see that he confronted the shooter as the shooter was leaving the restaurant, which sounds more like the shooter was done shooting and was on his way out when he was stopped.  Two somewhat different scenarios, but either way, I'm glad the good guy smoked his ass and saved society some significant expense.

Among the various comments, including that of h_h, yours shows some good thinking "out of the box"!  Thank you.  We could indeed have a "false flag' in the negative!  Like fracking, helps divide along fault lines.  We all have faults, we also have fault lines.  Story agrees with me, it's true!  Story disagrees with me, it's FAKE!  Etc.  Good comment, sir.

I thought it wasn't legal (fake laws yes) to carry in an establishment serving alcohol, this might be in Florida only.

Possibly the story was changed so the good guy didn't get in trouble? That would be impossible with so many witnesses maybe the confusion is on purpose to cloud the fact good guy shot inside of establishment w/ alcohol.

The legal standard for justifiable homicide is reasonable fear for you life or the lives of others. A known shooter just exiting the restaurant with gun in hand as you are about to enter certainly meets that standard. Also, a dead perp saves the local taxpayers a ton of money - costs of incarceration, costs of trial and defense attorneys, etc.

~"Piss on the sign. Carry on."~

I. like the gentleman above, lived in SoCal and carried, (technically illegally though I had a Nevada non-resident permit, (not recognized in Cali)), for the last 4 years I lived there. Not carrying is not an option in SoCal.

I'm just glad this did not happen in one of those nutty gun-free states like Cali, NY, Chicago, Maryland, and all the other places where free men are denied the right to be secure in their persons and property.

I live in TN now. I don't do "gun-free zones", though I do respect federal & state buildings where it is restricted. Everywhere else, I'm packing. When asked if I'm armed, my response is.

a.) "none of your business" or

b.) "Heavily."

That last one is usually good for a raised eyebrow or two.

Lastly, to the "good guy with a gun": I'm sorry you had to shoot the POS. Do not let it trouble you. You did the right thing.

Ron Benton, 54, of Oklahoma City, was at the bar in Louie's when he heard gunfire coming from the front doors. He said he didn't see anyone shot, but he went outside with others who rushed out the doors.

Benton said a man pulled up in a sport utility vehicle and had a gun. The gunman, wearing protective earphones and eye glasses, was holding a gun in one hand. The man refused to drop it and the other man with the SUV opened fire, Burton said.…

When I took the carry class in TX they were quite clear on what a legal sign banning carry on premises is. White background with 1" black lettering and must quote 30.06 law. The statute not the caliber. All other signs are merely suggestions and not enforceable should you choose to ignore them. i.e. a pistol with a circle and bar is meaningless.

I'll be surprised if I see this reported positively by the MSM, or even the local news stations who take their marching orders from the MSM outlets.

If they report anything it'll be amazing since a gun owner success story hardly fits their narrative of moar gun control.

I don't think the person carrying ever got inside the door so if guns are banned there it would seem no law was broken except by the shooter who was inside who wounded people.

Teachers should have THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE whether or not they bring a firearm to school!

Certainly very strict rules, and I would think at a minimum, they should be allowed, if they wish, to possess a weapon that fires rubber bullets!

Common sense!

Great link. Highly educational. Certainly makes the point that firing rubber bullets is no joke. Might work for teachers, since:

1. the majority of teachers are females

2. female teachers are, by nature, reluctant to physically hurt other people (I know - I'm married to one)

3. women will, under duress, kill or maim to protect little children

4. accordingly, the probability of a female teacher firing off a rubber round is far greater than her firing off a standard round

5. this would side-step the entire efforts of gun-hating urban Democrats to disarm everyone except Pelosi's pet gang, MS13

6. female teachers would be far more likely to build shooting skills if they see the end-point as non-lethal protection of children

Bottom-line: excellent idea. Indeed, one that Trump, NRA, and concerned citizens like myself could get behind. The real payoff is that dangerous assholes would think twice before taking advantage of defenseless children in "gun free" zones. I've had broad contact with criminal personalities. The one word most likely to dampen their enthusiasm for killing is this: FEAR.

I'm not too sure pushing women to get armed is a good idea.  In fact, I think it's about as dumb an idea as I've ever heard.

Those who are capable of it will self-identify, if given the opportunity.  The others... they're likely better off with that can of beans.  "Cower in Place" was designed for them.

The key is to give the self-identifiers, female and male, the opportunity to do such.  By making it legal for a teacher to be armed.  Every other citizen as well, of course.
