Violent Crime Spree Ends When Suspect Shot By Armed Civilian

Via The Daily Bell

It happens all the time. Armed bystanders stop violent rampages. You might not hear about them because catastrophe is avoided–and we all know the mainstream media is out for blood.

Just this past Sunday an armed Walmart shopper stopped a crime spree that left one victim in critical condition and two others injured.

If that armed bystander hadn’t intervened, the suspect would have certainly continued his spree. Because of the armed civilian, it is extremely likely that lives were saved.

Police had been called but had yet to catch up to the suspect. He was in the process of his sixth attempted carjacking when he was shot by a 47-year-old man.

The “Father’s Day Hero” was out shopping with his family, and just happened to be carrying a firearm for defense of himself and loved ones.

We will never know how many lives were preserved, and how many tragedies avoided because that man took the protection of he and his family into his own hands. But not only did he protect his family, this armed citizen made everyone in his vicinity safer that day.

It all happened in, Tumwater, a medium-sized suburb of Washington state on a Sunday afternoon. It started at a gas station, and it ended in a Walmart parking lot.

[The suspect] approached a family and attempted to take their car but was not successful. He then fled the scene, drove the wrong way on Highway 101 and quickly exited into the City of Tumwater.

Day crashed the vehicle at the intersection of Tyee Drive and Israel Road SW, near Tumwater High School, police said.

He then left his car and attempted to carjack at least two other people, fired shots at the vehicles, and demanded owners abandon their cars. Day was successful in carjacking a third vehicle that he drove to Walmart, police said.

Upon arriving, officers found a 16-year-old boy and another victim suffering from minor injuries.

“As we were speaking to witnesses at that scene, we get another call of shots fired here at Walmart,” Wohl said.

Tumwater Police said Day tried to carjack two cars in the Walmart parking lot at 5900 Littlerock Rd SW.

One driver was shot when he refused to give up his car, Wohl said. He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. As of Monday, the man was in critical condition and in intensive care.

As Day tried to take a second car a “bystander here in the parking lot shot the suspect,” Wohl said.

According to a police release, two armed shoppers saw Day inside Walmart and followed him outside.

Before attempting the carjackings, Tumwater Police said Day went into the Walmart and fired at a locked ammunition display case. He then removed some ammunition and left the store.

Hopefully, the man in critical condition will survive, and the only death will be the suspect.

But we will never know how many more people would have been hurt, shot, or killed if the armed shoppers had not intervened.

That is what doesn’t show up in the statistics: just how many lives are saved by armed citizens, protecting themselves, their loved ones, and their communities.

You don’t have to play by the rules of the corrupt politicians, manipulative media, and brainwashed peers.

This can all be ended easily. Start a program where anti-gun progs get issued a T-shirt with a unique number on the back and a sign on the front that says:  "If you feel like shooting somebody shoot me!"  Laws are implemented so that if you shoot a prog in such a T-shirt no harm, no foul for you.  After the shooting you simply report the serial number on the back of the shirt (if you can still read it - maybe we will also have to tattoo it in a few places).

Any time somebody feels angry or is having a bad day, whatever, they can locate one of the progs and release their anger.

No longer will anyone need to worry about being an unfortunate victim.  Also the 2nd Amendment is retained and stays in full effect.

This thinking is right in line with the way progs "solve" a problem.  So let's get on it!

Had a NYS concealed carry permit when I lived in Roch. (still do but don't live in that tax shithole)The only time I carried it was when I had to visit the super walmart on the edge of the inner city and suburbia. The natives were always restless in that walmart and I'm not talking about the suburbia natives. Now I live in TN and the Super Walmart is no comparison to the upstate NY one. I actually find it a pleasure to shop there.

Armed citizen = correct. Score one for the good guys.

Armed civilian implies that the police are themselves a para military force. When the police start believing they are military, we get John Crawford, Tamir Rice, Daniel Shaver, Justine Damond, Walter Scott, Loren Simpson, Kelly Thomas, etc..........

I carry and respect others who do but I also believe you can have your opinion but not your own facts. Click below.."An FBI study of 160 active-shooting incidents from 2000 to 2013 found that only one was stopped by an individual with a valid firearms permit. In contrast, 21 incidents were stopped by unarmed citizens."

Now unless you hate the FBI as is so popular these days (didn't the liberals hate the FBI just a few years ago and the "Law and Order" FBI and law enforcement voters were GOP stalwarts, my how times have changed.), the facts indicate otherwise. This shows that we have plenty of laws on the books but they are not enforced. Examples include disturbed people with access to arms, irresponsible parents who don't lock up their weapons and their kids get them and off a few dozen people, suicide by gun (or cop), mostly punk ass men who off their wives and girlfriends etc. Just my $.02...

In spite of your sophistry, I have to fall back on the immortal words of Al Capone:

" You can get much farther with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone."

If your contention is that I'm better off NOT having a gun if I find myself in an "active-shooting" situation, then I think you are a fool. And ain't it also funny how the liberals, who used to champion free speech back in the 60's, now want to license journalists, want news "approved" by the state, want to ban forms of speech that they deem "incorrect," etc. ad nauseum.

By your own argument, it seems, you should NOT carry since you would have a much better chance of stopping a shooting if you were unarmed - or it seems that's what you're saying.

And my trust in the FBI is so low ... well, I don't think it could be any lower .... and it's been that way for decades.

It's a crying shame it has to come down to this. There are 16,000,000 to 19,000,000 permits issued and current depending upon who you believe. I recently saw that "the armed citizens" stopped around 2.5 million crimes annually without firing a shot due to the presence of the armed citizen. If one considers the amount of crime stopped before someone is shot, the armed citizen is making a huge difference. To the figure above I believe those who carry in Constitutional Carry states would bring the number of those who carry to about 25,000,000 or about one out of thirteen people in the US. There will come a point where there are so many permitted people carrying that any violent criminal will re-consider their course of action and not commit the crime. Walmart has so many people in it at any time the odds are two citizens are carrying in Walmart at any time. That makes a violent crime at Walmart a form of Russian roulette.

I would bet the number of kids who either shoot themselves or a sibling outnumbers the "street heroes" by 10:1.

But I could be wrong.  Please feel free to provide a link with statistics.

You might want to check out

Real numbers, pulled from law enforcement sources.

And if you really gave a shit about the lives of children, you wouldn't be worrying about guns - you'd be worrying about swimming pools, plastic bags, and a whole host of OTHER "kid-killer" items that take the lives of children every day.  How many kids are killed every day by some asshole using their cell phone while driving?  How is THAT any less negligent?

I have to laugh at the eye-clawing hypocrisy of the Left and the Anti-Gun crowd.  They will screech, "If it saves ONE CHILD'S LIFE! We gotta get rid of GUNS!" ..... and the next day will march in support of abortion on demand ....

actually, you are the idiot.

when did he say anything about banning anything?

he posted a respectful comment, putting forth his belief about a statistic, and stated he is open to have his mind changed about it.

you, on the other hand, replied with an asshol-ish comment, thinking yourself clever.

people like you make us pro-gun types look bad.

learn to talk to people like a civilized human being, if you want to win people over to be pro-2A.

"–and we all know the mainstream media is out for blood."

This continues because we're not having the discussion which needs to be had, because no one in political prominence is willing to weather the shit-storm which would undoubtedly ensue.  And that is what the real meaning - the primary purpose of the right to firearms ownership & use is all about in America.

Defending against criminals, hunting, etc., are vastly secondary.   Not only that, but refusing to acknowledge the primary purpose plays right into the hands of the punditry which is all too happy to keep gun rights advocates wrapped around the axle of secondary 'self-defense' issues, whilst avoiding the uncomfortable issue of government overreach and the written, foundational and Declared antidote for such overreach.

As much as I agree with the sentiment, I'd say the moment has long passed where the true intent of 2A could be successfully applied.

A more likely scenario is social collapse, where the only people available to protect your family and community are yourself and trusted neighbors.

Koreans get this.  Check out their response during the LA Riots.

Carry, think situation awareness, draw early and shoot if you feel threatened.  Pretty simple.  Also make sure you shoot the AH in the front 180 degrees and not the back 180.  Also older kids with look-a-like guns can be targets in some situations.

The legal standard is that you must have a reasonable fear of mortal (death inflicting) danger to yourself or others before you can point your weapon at a person (drawing the weapon and pointing at the ground is OK) or shoot the person posing that danger. You better have witnesses. Absent witnesses, you are in for an expensive legal battle ahead unless the perp you shoot has a criminal record of violent offenses.

Where is the NRA? They should be interviewing each of the heroes and putting up a constantly expanding video of all the people who defend themselves and others with guns. Each person can get their own minute or two or even just 30 seconds.

The only problem is the video would be so long no one would be able to watch it all.  There are over 2 million plus incidents of self-protection with guns each and every year.

GPW Tue, 06/19/2018 - 17:33 Permalink

Now, what the guy should have done rather than shoot the perp was to approach him and have an intelligent conversation as to why he should change his life and become a better person.  Explain to him that crime doesn't pay and that he will regret his actions in the morning.  He could even slip him a few bucks if he's down on his luck or maybe even give him his own car. That's the charitable thing to do.

After all, it's Societies fault that he's doing these things, not his.  He's just another victim.  Probably his mother liked his brother best or something like that.  Yeah, that's probably it.  No wonder he turned to crime.

The dudes gonna get his fucking balls sued off in civil court.  I legally carry and there is no fucking way I would interject myself into any incident UNLESS MYSELF or MY LOVED ones were threatened.

If some moron was shooting up a Walfart and me or mine were not in immediate danger....I'd just leave.

Gun Control is a PsyOP

  • 32K deaths per year approx
  • 20 K are Suicides
  • 10 K are gang related natural selection
  • 2 K are accidents and random murders aka robberies or spouse etc
  • 1 K are by Police

80,000,000 Chinese who didn't own guns exterminated by those who had the guns.

60,000,000 Russians and Ukrainians didn't own guns exterminated by those who had the guns.

There is a long list.
