In Twitter Meltdown, Elon Musk Calls Thai Cave Diver A Pedophile, Then Deletes Tweet

Update: Musk has deleted the tweet accusing Unsworth of being a pedophile (as well as the tweet in which he doubled down that he would "bet ya a signed dollar it's true"). For those who miss it already, here is a snapshot:

The sequence of tweets deleted by Musk can be seen here, and, as usual, there is already a snarky narrative being formed in response:

* * *

What does a billionaire Silicon Valley liberal (or perhaps socialist, or maybe republican) do when his giant “Thai cave rescue” diversion from his auto company woes goes sideways and authorities tell him to back off?

Why handle rejection poorly and question the rescue chief's credibility, of course.

And what does said billionaire do when the Thai rescue chief tells him to "stick his submarine where it hurts" before being outed as a top donor to a GOP PAC?

Engage in a weird Twitter exchange with the Sierra Club about climate change to show the world you're an environmentalist, then call the Thai rescue chief a pedophile.

After Musk's boy-rescuing submarine was rejected by Thai authorities and his idea called a "PR stunt" by rescue chief Vern Unsworth, the Tesla CEO began melting down over Twitter - saying Unsworth had been "inaccurately described as rescue chief."

Unsworth, an explorer and expert cave diver who lives in Thailand's Chiang Rai province, said that Musk was "asked to leave" the cave "very quickly" - and that the Tesla CEO had "no conception of what the caves would be like.

Musk hit back - tweeting “Never saw this British expat guy who lives in Thailand (sus) at any point when we were in the caves ... Only people in sight were the Thai navy/army guys, who were great. Thai navy seals escorted us in — total opposite of wanting us to leave.”

I challenge this dude to show final rescue video,” he continued. “Huge credit to pump & generator team. Unsung heroes here.”

It was then that Musk accused the man heralded worldwide as a hero - a pedo.

After Musk's shocking pedo claim, he doubled down - betting a Twitter user a "signed dollar it's true."

Maybe Thai officials had a bad feeling about his boy-rescuing submarine after Musk promised to send two tourists to the moon in 2018, only to delay the grandiose plan due to "technical challenges"? Maybe they saw pictures of Musk's makeshift tent city assembly line and didn't want to risk Elon rescuing a fraction of the boys he promised despite reassuring investors Thai officials it would be no problem? Perhaps they wanted to avoid a mid-cave battery fire?

Either way, Musk then responded to a nine day old tweet from Texas Observer journalist Christopher Hooks by calling him a jackass...

Musk's latest gaffe comes on the heels of a Bloomberg interview in which he acknowledged the need to tone down his Twitter spats, saying "I have made the mistaken assumption - and I will attempt to be better at this - of thinking that because Somebody is on Twitter and is attacking me that it is open season," adding "This is my mistake. I will correct it."

Meanwhile, Musk's pedo comment is not going over well...

 It's true...

It appears that Elon thinks that every white man that lives in Thailand is a pedo... I've seen this mentality before, but usually from lower-educated knuckle-draggers that thinks the entire 66 million population of Thailand are all whores and ladyboys... Nothing could be further from the truth... In the mean time, Musk denigrates heroes because they told him to take his publicity stunt and shove it...

You have zero knowledge of Thailand, Baron von Duh. Lots of sex tourists in every country. No Thai "social custom" condones prostitution, a shameful occupation for women (and men) driven to it by poverty. The average Thai despises the stinking, crude white guys who visit and shuns them. White guys get the garbage and pay for it, as in every society.

I lived in Chiang Mai for 1 year and was looked after by the local Thai people. The Thais are very kind and considerate people who work hard on their souls and spirituality.

I would ride up Doi Su Thep a few times each week and was in awe of an ex-Army officer who would ride up to Wat Pratat. He was 82 years old and I had to work very hard to keep up with him. He is the toughest 82 year old man I have ever met, and also very humble.

I also like the simple Myanmar people. Kind and considerate like the Thais.

My Thai neighbours would make me meals of Pad Thai, invite me to weddings and made me feel very welcome.

I've been to Thailand three times and traveled around the country.  Never paid for sex and wouldn't want to.  I avoid those holes which are tourist traps for some which are sex tourists.  Just because they exist doesn't mean the whole country is a knocking shop or that all visitors are sex tourists.

His dad just married his stepdaughter that he's known since she was he knows all about pedos apparently.
Should've expected this type of behavior though; after all, he warned us:

In quotes | Elon Musk
On failure: “My mentality is that of a samurai. I would rather commit seppuku than fail.”

Nailing it Elon, just drive that sword a bit deeper.

Ok, so I been trimming tree's all day and out of the loop, what the hell has Elon done to drive his stawk price down today?!

Kumail Nanjiani@kumailn

He didn’t just call the British rescuer in Thailand a pedophile. He called him a pedophile because he couldn’t imagine another reason for a white guy to be in Thailand. Which is a false assumption. Sometimes white guys visit Thailand to show off their useless submarines.

Here’s the thing. The diving isn’t that great there, and the expats don’t go there for the weather. The country is violent, they just had another revolt not even five years ago.

What other reason does a Vet diver go to Thailand? That’s like me saying I am moving to North Korean for the scenery and architecture. It would be cheaper for me to moving in prison and the views would be about the same.

Unless the guy is there to learn Muay Thai or his wife is Thai, I don’t see why. Feel free to say something worthwhile instead of being a queer though.

The fantastic food, beaches, mountains, culture.  All at a reasonable price and much safer than US.

And actually there are amazing dive sites in southern Thailand where many national marine parks exist.

Finally, I must say it is ridiculous to blame loose social values for the sex trade.  Thais are very conservative in this regard.  Much more conservative than the tat covered backpackers that come here in droves.  What Thailand has done is set very well defined red light districts, to keep the farangs and their maddening crowd separate from most of the country.  It works pretty well.

The Thais have a fantastic medical system with high-quality doctors and dentists. I had all my dental work done there for very reasonable prices by an associate Professor at the main university in Bangkok.

The cost of living is low and it is possible to rent a nice villa and eat out every night for a reasonable amount of money. The country is very safe in the North (where my wife and I lived) and the climate is not too bad in Chiang Mai. I prefer Chiang Rai as it is much smaller and not as developed.

Most of the expats that I knew in the North appreciated Thailand for the cost of living and high-quality life opportunities. The only negative I can think of is the crazy driving and very high rate of road accidents.

A good post is a good post. Things change in to fog of war.

I see serious change going on the last few days- even on he tone here. No disrespect- but I've voted up people I've not today- and I'm baffled about it in a serious way. There has been a divergence of sorts- still processing it.

Or someone who uses this word regularly... either as a participant or enabler, or like some of us that track the news on peds, psychos, puppets etc.... who else uses such terms? There are straight guys that use 'fag', homo, etc... usually 'physical' types... those that grow up around others using the terms as a put down.... and perhaps calling someone a pedophile, aka, child rapist, is now in vogue as such? Could be... but again, not the way a CEO should operate... he is like Trump, another sign of our times as the endtimes approach.... wait till the real crazies step out of the closet.

If we are going to make allegations based on choice of words in an alarmist tweet- aren't we stepping to the same level of insanity being discussed right now- or worse?

I'm saying EM is obviously quite intelligent and possibly he has offered a brave tip. I was suspicious of the whole thing before EM came around and suspected he was being taken down before hearing the left learned he was a secret GOP donor. Now his cars are catching fire, the cars once beloved by the left are crashing, and the loving investors are asking about things like profit- words foreign to Musk until recently.

We could easily say all verbally assassinating EM are part of the ring just as easily but nobody is saying that yet. Something big is coming and we all know it. Shall we side with the pedos and pedo apologists? Now, EM could be being used as weapon against us since supposedly PizzaGate / Pedogate was proven false, therefore those supporting him would be identifying themselves for elimination. These times pretty much such nothing is based on fact anymore.
