The War Over The Israel-Iran War

As ZeroHedge has noted (and readers have expressed in comments), many Trump supporters are wary of the President getting the U.S. directly involved in the current war between Israel and Iran. Will Chamberlain had an interesting take on this, which I've shared below. It's not about what course to take (or not take) in the current war, but about the merits of trusting Trump's judgment.

Before we get to it, a brief programming note. We've got a biotech lottery ticket trade teed up for Friday--this one may have a catalyst hitting over the weekend (it's not the diabetes one--that one has a potential catalyst hitting next week).

If you'd like a heads up when we place it, feel free to subscribe to our trading Substack/occasional email list below.

And if you want to add downside protection in the event the war in the Mideast escalates, our website and iPhone app are there for you--even on "Juneteenth".

Now on to Will Chamberlain's thought-provoking post.

Why To Trust Trump

I'll give you an example of why plan-trusting works.

I didn't think much of Trump's tariffs. I was skeptical that they would work. But I also know that both Trump and Scott Bessent are extremely competent businessman with the best interests of the country at heart.

So that leads to three thoughts. First - there's a good probability that I'm wrong about the tariffs, if the intelligent people that I elected are pushing them. Second, in the event that I'm right, these are not stupid people: they will change course. And third, it's quite possible that they are just designed to be a short-term tactic to force our partners to the negotiating table.

And now look - things are fine. The economy's humming, trade deals are being signed. Plan-trusting was the move.

On Iran. Say you're against Trump intervening because you think bombing Fordow won't work and that we'll get bogged down in a regime change war. Consider this.

1) Trump and Vance are competent people that spent much of their political careers mocking neoconservatives. If they think it's necessary to get rid of Iran's nuclear program, maybe they are right! After all, they have much more information than we do.

2) If for some reason the bombing fails, Trump is smart enough to cut his losses. He already did something approximating that in Yemen, and avoided getting bogged down. And, as discussed yesterday, he's been responsible for plenty of strikes and brief campaigns in the Middle East - but has avoided prolonged slogs.

3) Maybe all this is part of his negotiating strategy, and will force Iran to compromise. Perhaps Iran needs to see the bombs being loaded into B-2s on Diego Garcia in order to sue for peace.

Anyway, stay frosty, and trust the guys we elected--we elected them for a reason.

Evening Update

President Trump's assistant Steven Cheung, who looks a bit like OddJob, weighs in.
