Adam Schiff: Exhibit A?

While Joe and Hunter Biden have been absurdly off limits in the impeachment of President Trump, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is quickly becoming the GOP's "Exhibit A" over claims of an unfair trial in the House, as well as his involvement - and alleged coordination - with the anti-Trump CIA 'whistleblower' who kicked off the entire proceeding.

Schiff, Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, has repeatedly come under fire for conducting 'secret basement' hearings, while refusing to call key witnesses such as the Bidens, their business associates, or Ukrainian authorities with intimate knowledge of corruption claims.

Of note, Schiff's office hired a former colleague of whistleblower Eric Ciaramella the day after a July 25 phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky, in which Trump asked for an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden. Ciaramella worked with Biden with during the Obama years.

In short, Schiff's conduct has made him a target.

Trump’s lawyers and political allies have made Schiff a central focus of their efforts to defend the president during his trial. When they laid out their written case for why Trump should be acquitted, the president’s lawyers mentioned Schiff’s name almost 100 times.

They accused the congressman of running an “unheard of procedure that denied the president any semblance of fair process,” accused him of lying and of personally orchestrating the whistleblower complaint that led to the impeachment probe. -Reuters

Schiff has already been caught lying twice - once when he said his office had no contact with Ciaramella, when in fact, they met with him and directed him to a Democratic operative attorney who helped him file the official whistleblower complaint. The second lie was when he deadpanned a fabricated account of President Trump's July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky - dramatically framing Trump's request to investigate the Bidens as a 'mob shakdown.' When Schiff was called out for his deception, he claimed he was simply reading parody into the Congressional record.

And now, Congressional Republicans are echoing criticism of Schiff - accusing him of running a kangaroo court, and misstating the evidence against President Trump.

Trump goes on the offense

On Thursday, the President said "Schifty Schiff's" Senate presentation was "loaded with lies and misrepresentations," before tweeting reactions from GOP lawmakers.

Trump also claimed last October that Schiff wrote the whistleblower complaint.

So, with the Bidens off limits and Schiff both the lead prosecutor and central to the origins of the Democratic efforts to take down Trump over the Ukraine call, he will most assuredly become "Exhibit A" in the defense of Donald Trump, with or without testimony.
