Pelosi "Saddened" By Trump's Diagnosis, But Hopes It Will Lead To "Saner" COVID-19 Approach; Harris Negative

Update (0920ET): Nancy Pelosi followed Biden with a statement of her own, where she wished the president a "speedy recovery", before adding that she hoped this brush with the virus would lead to a "saner" approach to the virus, as Trump has repeatedly mocked Biden and others for wearing masks during political appearances.

Pelosi told MSNBC that she was tested Friday morning and is awaiting results.

She later said she was satisfied that Trump would receive the best medical care given his age and "other situations" - a subtle dig at Trump's weight. She also claimed that Trump's COVID-19 status could "change the dynamic" for stimulus talks.

More ominously, Pelosi says she was contacted by the White House over succession planning, since she's No. 2 in the line of succession after VP Mike Pence.

After Joe Biden and his top aides acquiesced to Democrats urging him to campaign more aggressively by deciding to restart in-person canvassing, President Trump - Biden's top political rival - has tested positive. One of Biden's aides told the press earlier that the former VP would be tested Friday morning. We're now waiting on the results.

In othe news, one reporter claimed there's no word yet on whether Biden will cancel his upcoming trip to Michigan, a key swing state. They added that the Biden camp has received no communication from the White House or the Trump campaign.

We fully expect Biden to deliver a screed mocking Trump's inability to take the virus seriously after receiving his test results (assuming he too is negative. If not, well...markets probably wouldn't be happy).
