Wall Street's top energy desks remain divided on whether Gulf-related disruptions to energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz will be sufficient to trigger another US shale boom. 

In mid-March, Arend Kapteyn, the global head of economics and strategy research and chief economist at UBS, said not to expect a shale boom like 2011-14 because "the oil sector is much less responsive to prices than a decade ago."
