The Kremlin has issued new statements on the recent drone sightings across Europe which have at times shut down airports and put authorities on a high state of alert, amid allegations Russia is behind it.

On Sunday, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Germany "assumes that Russia is behind most of these drone flights" - but without presenting any evidence. The accusation came after last Thursday and Friday Munich international airport briefly shut down on two consecutive days. Merz observed further, "So far, there have been no incidents involving armed drones — only espionage attempts and efforts to cause public anxiety."
