Goldman Sees Global Shipbuilding Entering Multi-Stage Upcycle Through 2032
In early April, President Trump signed an Executive Order aimed at bolstering America's shipbuilding capacity. Titled "Restoring America's Maritime Dominance," the order is largely intended to counter China's dominance across the shipbuilding industry. Last week, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung reaffirmed plans to "Make American Shipbuilding Great Again."
A Goldman Sachs team led by Herbert Lu provided clients with a bullish outlook for the global shipbuilding industry, saying it is entering a "prolonged upcycle with two stages" that could last through 2032.
