The relentless meltup continued last week as US equities marched back to all time highs and beyond on a string of benign inflation prints (CPI, PPI, Retail Sales, U Mich), a resurgence in the tech sector, and a collapse in trading volume and liquidity.

Software, the biggest short of the first half of 2026, saw another big squeeze higher on WDAY M&A (there was broad-based covering of software baskets / ETFs) coupled with Memory strength positive news flow around SNDK investor day on Thursday. From a flow perspective, Asset Manager and HF skews were benign as trading volumes and institutional activity remain anemic entering the heart of August.
