Congress Loses A Colorful Character
With the defeat of Rep. Thomas Massie in yesterday's primary, Congress is set to lose a colorful character. Below are some reactions to his defeat on X yesterday. Before we get to them, a quick housekeeping note.

Reactions To Rep. Massie's Defeat
Why Michael Tracey thought he deserved to lose:
Massie tells Tucker that the only way the Trump Administration can "redeem" itself is not by releasing more Epstein Files, but by indicting "somebody" -- anybody -- for unspecified pedo crimes.

He suggests Leon Black should be charged. Tucker asks on what basis. Massie says… pic.twitter.com/RhEn63cAjQ
The key part of Tracey's post above:
Massie is demanding the Trump Administration indict Leon Black on the basis of evidence that has been JUDICIALLY DETERMINED to have been OUTRIGHT FABRICATED! That would be the only way for the Trump Administration to "redeem" itself, according to Massie!
Massie also claims Leon Black and Jes Staley were never investigated... BUT THEY WERE! You know how we know that? IT'S IN THE EPSTEIN FILES!
MASSIE DOESN'T ACTUALLY READ THE VERY "FILES" HE LOVES TO SCREAM ABOUT SO MUCH.
Frickin' incredible.
This is why, among many other reasons, I argue that he "deserves to lose" today:
Massie's largest donor was a Zionist Jewish billionaire.
Just for the record -- Thomas Massie's single largest campaign financier is an American Jewish billionaire named Jeff Yass, who's a key figure in the far-Right Israeli think tank called the 'Kohelet Policy Forum', which actively pushes for the 'Greater Israel Project.'

Massie is… https://t.co/KVGXEX7cIu
The context for Morse's comment was Massie's quip during his concession speech that it was hard for him to reach his opponent in Tel Aviv. Here's the full text of Morse's post:

Massie is literally the last person that can start accusing people of being under the control of foreign, Jewish influence, lmao.

How Massie squandered his influence.
Brutal and deserved. Massie beclowned himself.

Refusing to vote to pass the BBB was a huge mistake. In politics, you have to make short term compromises for the sake of achieving your long term goals.
For instance, Massie could have put his vote on the BBB up for "sale" in exchange for some relatively small but meaningful cuts to some government programs. He could have secured a real, concrete victory and made the BBB marginally better while also working with Trump.
Instead he did his "principled" grandstanding and then indulged his own ego to the point of implying the President was a pedophile defender--just an outright lie.
Very foolish. Massie could have done a lot of good. He is right that deficits are bad, that foreign intervention is a drain on the nation, and that taxes are too high. He was one of the most sensible political voices on COVID.
But he couldn't grasp the political situation. He could not appreciate the real challenges that he needed to navigate politically to get what he wanted. He was more interested in being on TV and podcasts than governing.
Well, now he will have the free time to do as many media appearances as he wants. Sad.
Finally, a new candidate for former Massie supporters to consider:
